Mitra nám nepředstavuje jen oblek či součást oblečení, ale také byla chápána jako insignie, tedy znak hodnosti, které jsou určené moci světských a církevních osob. Mitra představovala legitimní právo určité osoby vykonávat jistou funkci a zároveň poukazovala na její společenské postavení. The author in his article points out the fact that miter is not just a garment or a piece of clothing but it was also understood as insignia, i.e. a sign of rank, representing the power of secular and ecclesiastical persons. Miter represented the legitimate right of certain persons to perform certain functions and also indicated their social status.
