Předložená bakalářská práce s názvem Gymnázium v Písku v letech 1918-1928 se věnuje vývoji jedné z nejvýznamnějších jihočeských středních škol 19. a první poloviny 20. století. Práce vznikla na základě prostudování odborné literatury a archivního materiálu uloženého ve fondu Gymnázium ve Státním okresním archivu v Písku a je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. První kapitola se zabývá proměnami středního školství v českých zemích a v Písku v první polovině 20. století. Následující kapitola se věnuje vývoji gymnázia od jeho založení, tj. od roku 1778, do konce první světové války. Třetí kapitola přibližuje dějiny města v první polovině 20. století a působení píseckého gymnázia v letech 1918-1928. Závěrečná kapitola je věnována studentům a pedagogům, kteří zde v uvedené době studovali, resp. vyučovali. V případě gymnazistů práce analyzuje teritoriální a sociální původ studentů, jejich strukturu dle pohlaví a náboženského vyznání, jejich studijní výsledky, ubytování ve městě, neopomíjí ani otázky placení školného, či posky-tování stipendii a podpor. V neposlední řadě práce přibližuje též školní každodennost i vztahy hostitelského města a školy. The submitted bachelor thesis named Grammar school in Písek from 1918 to 1928 deals with development of one of the most significant South Bohemian high school of 19th and the first half of 20th century. The thesis was developed by studying specialized literature, stored mainly in the Grammar school collection in the State Dis-trict Archives of Písek, and is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with the changes of high education in the Czech country and in Písek in the first half of 20th century. Next chapter is devoted to the development of the grammar school since its foundation in 1778 until the end of the First World War. The third chapter approximates the history of the town in the first half of 20th century and the operation of Písek grammar school between 1918 and 1928. The final chapter is dedicated to the students and pedagogues, who had been studying or teaching there in the given period. In case of the students, it analyzes their territorial and social origin, the structure according to gender and religion, their study scores, accommodation in the town; it does not neglect the issues of tuition payment, or granting scholarships and fi-nancial support. Last, but not least, it also focuses on the everyday life at the school and also on the relationship of the host town and the school.
