Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the work of the English playwright Sarah Kane especially with her last play 4.48 Psychosis and its two Czech productions ? the Czech premier at the Kolowrat theatre staged in 2003 and its latest production so far staged in HaDivadlo in 2010. Using the dramaturgical analysis this thesis compares the dramaturgical concepts of both productions. It also makes a short excursion into the life and works of Sarah Kane and mentions the other four plays Blasted, Phaedra's Love, Cleansed, Crave and a short screenplay Skin. This thesis attempts to summarize the main characteristics and principles of Sarah Kane?s plays. It also mentions Sarah Kane?s era - i.e. the nineties of the twentieth century, the era of in-yer-face theatre and new British drama (in the Czech Republic known as cool drama).
