Diplomová práce se zabývá volbami do Evropského parlamentu v České republice a představuje toto téma ve vzdělávacím oboru Výchova k občanství. Úvodní část stručně popisuje historii vývoje Evropského parlamentu od prvních přímých voleb roku 1979 až do současnosti. Následující kapitola analyzuje průběh voleb do Evropského parlamentu v České republice v letech 2004 a 2009. Dále se zaměřuje na postihnutí hlavních rozdílů mezi těmito volbami a popisuje, jak se od sebe lišily volební výsledky, postoje české veřejnosti i kandidujících subjektů. Druhá část práce se věnuje Národnímu programu rozvoje vzdělávání v České republice a zaměřuje se na vzdělávací obor Výchova k občanství, do kterého spadá průřezové téma Výchova k myšlení v evropských a globálních souvislostech. Práce shrnuje, jakým bodům v tomto tématu mají učitelé základních škol věnovat pozornost a také jak a proč začlenit Evropský parlament do výuky v oboru Výchova k občanství. V závěru práce jsou zpracovány dva průzkumy. První průzkum se týká výuky tématu Evropského parlamentu na druhém stupni základních škol a ve druhém průzkumu jsou uvedeny a porovnány názory devíti českých europoslanců. Práce se opírá zejména o české internetové zdroje a knižní publikace. This thesis concerns with elections to the European Parliament in Czech republic and introduces this topic in the educational branch of Citizenship Education. Introductory part of this thesis briefly describes the history of European Parliament since the first direct elections in 1979 up to the present. The following chapter analyses the process of the election to the European Parliament in the Czech republic in 2004 and in 2009. Another chapter focuses on describing the main differences between these two elections and characterizes how the election results differ from each other, the attitudes of the Czech public and candidates themselves. The second part of this thesis is devoted to National programme for the Development of education in the Czech republic and concentrates on the educational branch of Citizenship Education, which involves an interdisciplinary topic of Education of thinking in European and global context. The thesis summarizes what points of this topic shall the elementary school teachers pay attention to and it also summarizes how and why to implement the European Parliament into the educational branch of Citizenship Education. At the very end of the thesis there are elaborated two surveys. The first one relates to the education of the topic of the European Parliament in the upper primary schools and in the second one there are introduced and compared opinions of nine Czech Members of the European Parliament.
