Prasata ve věku 3-4 a 8 týdnů věku (tři zvířata v každé skupině) byla per orálně infikována Cryptosporidium muris, C. tyzerri, C. suis a Cryptosporidium pig genotype II dávkou 1 × 107 oocyst / zvíře. Prasata inokulovaná druhem C. tyzerri nebo C. muris nevykazovala žádné klinické příznaky onemocnění a v průběhu 30 dní po infekci nebyla zjištěna žádná infekce zmíněnými druhy. Během pitvy nebyly zjištěny žádné makroskopické změny na vnitřních orgánech. Vývojová stádia kryptosporidí nebyla v gastrointestinálním traktu detekována ani histologickými a PCR metodami. Infektivita těchto izolátů byla ověřena na SCID myších, které začaly vylučovat oocysty od 4 do 8 DPI. Experimentální infekce prokázaly vnímavost obou věkových kategorií prasat k druhu C. suis. Zatímco parazitologické, molekulárně genetické a histologické vyšetření prokázalo vnímavost 8 týdenních prasat k infekci Cryptosporidium pig genotype II, 4 týdenní selata nebyla k této infekci vnímavá. Vývojová stádia obou kryptosporidií, C. suis Cryptosporidium pig genotype II, byla detekována jak v tenkém, tak i tlustém střevě. Na základě našich zjištění můžeme konstatovat, že prasata nejsou vnímavá k infekci C. tyzerri a C. muris, druh C. suis není věkově specifický a Cryptosporidium pig genotype II není infekční pro selata před odstavem. Three-four and 8 week old pigs (three animals per isolate) were inoculated with Cryptosporidium muris C. tyzerri, C. suis and Cryptosporidium pig genotype II at a dose of 1 × 107 oocysts per animal. Pigs inoculated with C. muris or C. tyzerri showed no detectable infection and no clinical symptoms of cryptosporidiosis during 30 days post infection (DPI), and no macroscopic changes were detected in the digestive tract after necropsy. Any developmental stages were detected in gastrointestinal tract tissue neither by histology nor PCR throughout the duration of the experiment. The infectivity of these isolates was verified on SCID mice, in which oocysts shedding started from 4 to 8 DPI. Experimental infection revealed susceptibility of both 4 and 8 week old pigs to C. suis. While parasitological, molecular and histology examination confirmed susceptibility of 8 week old pigs to Cryptosporidium pig genotype II, 4 week old pigs were not being infected with this genotype. Both C. suis and Cryptosporidium pig genotype II were detected in small and large intestine. Based on our findings, it can be concluded that pigs are not susceptible to C. muris or C. tyzzeri infection, C. suis does not have age specificity and Cryptosporidium pig genotype II is not infectious for pre-weaned pigs
