Znakový jazyk jako jedna z forem alternativní a augmentativní komunikace je používána především k dorozumívání osob neslyšících, u kterých se nevyvinula nebo nebyla dostatečně vyvinuta verbální složka projevu. Ve zjednodušené podobě znakového jazyka pomáhá vyjadřovat se také dětem s Downovým syndromem. U této cílové skupiny slouží znakování jako podpůrná metoda, která by měla napomáhat rozvoji řeči, jež je v důsledku mentálního postižení opožděna. Při komunikaci s dětmi s Downovým syndromem se verbální řeč doprovází znaky. Ty pomáhají dítěti porozumět sdělení a taktéž mu dávají možnost vyjádřit se. Cílem práce bylo porovnat na základě studia českých i zahraničních odborných publikací dva rozdílné náhledy na využití znakové řeči při komunikaci s dětmi s Downovým syndromem a tyto náhledy ilustrovat pomocí kazustik. Práce obsahuje vymezení a charakteristiku Downova syndromu, vývoj řeči dětí s touto diagnózou, charakteristiku alternativní a augmentativní komunikace a její jednotlivé systémy, a také přínosům a možným rizikům znakování. V další části práce jsou poznatky z předchozích kapitol ilustrovány formou kazuistik. Na základě rozdílných zkušeností se znakováním byly vybrány dvě respondentky, matky dětí s Downovým syndromem. Odhalilo se, že při znakování je nutná podpora matky celou rodinou a její zapojení do procesu znakování. Dále se ukazuje, že nelze poznatky z odborné literatury aplikovat na celou cílovou skupinu, tj. děti s Downovým syndromem. Práce také ukazuje, jak málo odborných publikací se věnuje možným rizikům znakování. Bakalářská práce může sloužit jako informační materiál pro rodiče, kteří se rozhodují, zda se svým dítětem začít komunikovat za pomoci metody znakové řeči. Signing language as a form of alternative and augmentative communication is firstly used for communication of deaf people who are not enough developed by verbal component of speech or for those where there is no verbal komponent of speech at all. In simplified form of sign language it also helps children with Down syndrome to express themselves. For this target group the signing is supporting method which helps to developt the speech which is delayed because of the mental disability. In communication with children with Down syndrome is verbal speech accompanied by signs which help child to understand the meaning and give him the opportunity to express oneself. The aim of the thesis was a comparasion by studying Czech and foreign professional publications by two different views on the use of sign language in communication with children with Down syndrome and this views illustrate by case studies. The thesis includes definition and characteristics of Down syndrome, speech development of children with this diagnosis, characteristics alternative and augmentative communication and its individual systems and also benefits and potential risks of signing. The next section of thesis illustrate the knowledge from previous chapters by case studies. There were selected two women as mothers of children with Down syndrome. They were chosen on the different experience with signing. It was appeared while signing there is necessary to support mother by whole family and to involve the family into the process of signing. Next there appears that knowledge from professional literature can?t be apllied to whole target group, i.e. children with Down syndrome. The thesis also shows how few professional publications apply the potentional risks of signing. The thesis can be used as an information for those parents who decide to communicate with their child by using methods of signing.
