Čirok, jedna ze světově nejvýznamnějších polních plodin, je nejčastěji využívaný pro potravinářské či krmné účely. Cílem této práce je formou literárního přehledu shrnout informace o vlastnostech čiroku z pohledu energetického využití, energetické výtěžnosti, technologii pěstování pro energetické účely, možnostech využití čiroku pro energetické účely a stavu ve světě i v ČR. V poslední době je čirok zkoumán jako surovina pro všechna odvětví energetického průmyslu a to z důvodu široké škály potencionálních produktů jako je etanol, vodík, metan, lipidy, aceton, butanol a kyselina mléčná. Díky poměrně vysokým výnosům fytomasy lze čirok využít jako surovinu pro přímé spalování. Pro daný směr využití je rozhodující složení jednotlivých druhů čiroku, které může být výrazně ovlivněno agrotechnikou a klimatickými podmínkami pěstování. Významnou úlohu pro zvýšení produkce a využitelnosti této plodiny ve všech klimatických podmínkách má šlechtění. Sorghum, one of the world's major cereals, is the most commonly used for food or fodder. The aim of this Bachelor thesis is in a form of literary review to summarize information about the properties of sorghum in view of energy use, energy yields, the cultivation technology for energy purposes, the possibilities of using sorghum for energy purposes and the situation in the world and the Czech Republic. Recently sorghum has been tested as a raw material for all branches of the energy industry because of the wide range of potential products such as ethanol, hydrogen, methane, lipids, acetone, butanol and lactic acid. Sorghum can be used as biofuels due to the relatively high yields of phytomass. Utilization of individual species of sorghum depends on their chemical composition that can be significantly influenced by climatic conditions and way of cultivation. Crops improvement plays an important role for increasing production and utilization of this cereal in all climatic conditions.
