Diplomová práce ve třech kapitolách zachycuje vývoj Portugalska v kontextu Evropské unie. Popisuje období před vstupem do Evropských společenství v 70. a 80. letech, kdy došlo k pádu dlouhotrvající diktatury a k postupnému přechodu k demokracii za ekonomické i politické nestability. Další část práce se zabývá průběhem vstupování Portugalska do Evropských společenství, následným obdobím reálné konvergence na přelomu 80. a 90. let, vstupem Portugalska do ERM a přijetím společné měny. Poslední kapitola rozebírá vývoj portugalského hospodářství během účasti v eurozóně a současné problémy Portugalska v kontextu probíhající hospodářské a finanční krize. The thesis in three chapters shows the development of Portugal in the context of the European Union. It describes the period before accession to the European Communities in the 70s and 80s when the long dictatorship fell and the period of transition to democracy followed during the political and economical instability. Another part of the thesis deals with the process of Portugal's accession to the European Communities, followed by a period of real convergence in the late 80s and early 90s, Portugal's entry into the ERM and the adoption of the common currency. The last chapter discusses the development of the Portuguese economy during participation in the eurozone and the current problems of Portugal in the context of the ongoing economic and financial crisis.
