Čína jako pobřežní stát ji obklopuje z východu Tichý oceán, které se dále dělí do 4 jednotlivýcho moří, z nichž je pro Čínu z hlediska ekonomického nejdůležitější Východočínské a Jihočínské moře, jelikož se v těchto mořích vyskytuje ohromné přírodní bohatství jako jsou mořské plody a nerostné suroviny na kterých je Čína a mnoho dalších zemí v této oblasti závislé, protože s ekonomickým vývojem souvisí i její závislost na těchto surovinách. Tyto suroviny byly nalezeny v oblasti ostrovů Senkaku ve Východočínském moři a u Spratlyho ostrovů v Jihočínském moři. Ovšem vedle Číny se o tato sporná území přou i ostatní státy v tomto regionu. O ostrovy Senkaku se pře Čína s Japonskem a o Spratlyho ostrovy se vedle Číny nárokují Vietnam, Filipíny, Malajsie a Brunej. Tyto spory se táhnou již několik desítek let a tak došlo mezi aktéry i k několika přímým i nepřímým střetům. V blízké době nelze moc předpokládat, že by došlo k vyřešení těchto sporů vzhledem k tomu, že Čína a ostatní aktéři v posledních letech mohutně vojensky zbrojují a tak lze i předpokládat, že by mohlo dojít i k přímým střetům. Proto je nezbytné tuto oblast monitorovat, jelikož zde dochází ke střetům zájmů mezi mocnostmi jako je Čína a Japonsko, ovšem i USA projevují zájem o tuto oblast. China as it the coastal State is surrounded from the East by the Pacific Ocean, which are further divided into 4 different seas, which the East China Sea and South China Sea is China's most important from economic aspects, as in these seas there are great natural wealth such as seafood and minerals where China and many other countries in the region are dependent, because economic development is related to its dependence on raw materials. These materials have been found in the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea and the Spratly islands in the South China Sea. But beside China other countries in the region also claim the disputed territories. The dispute between China and Japan over the Senkaku Islands, China has dispute with Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei over the Spratly Islands. These disputes stretch for several decades and among the players there were several direct and indirect conflicts. In the near future we cannot expect that there would be some resolution, given that China and others have in recent years arming heavily militarily, and so we can also assume that there might even be a direct conflict. It is therefore necessary to monitor this area, because here we can see conflicts of interests between the great powers like China and Japan, but also the U.S. are showing an interest in this area.
