Cílem této bakalářské práce je přiblížit čtenáři, jakými způsoby OSN předchází konfliktům, kdo jsou aktéři prevence v rámci Organizace a jak se k preventivní činnosti Organizace staví její členové. Dále pak má identifikovat příčiny úspěchu či neúspěchu preventivních akcí. Práce se v první části zabývá teorií konfliktů v mezinárodních vztazích a teorií jejich prevence, zejména pak preventivní diplomacií a jejími nástroji. Druhá část prezentuje teorii prevence konfliktů z pohledu OSN a uvádí její aktéry, jejich role a možnosti. Poslední kapitola zachycuje reálné působení OSN na několika úspěšných i neúspěšných příkladech preventivní diplomacie, peacemakingu, peacekeepingu a preventivního rozmístění mírových sil. Jednotlivé příklady jsou zhodnoceny na základě získaných teoretických poznatků. The objective of this thesis is to acquaint the reader with the ways in which the UN prevents conflicts, who the actors in conflict prevention within the Organization are and how the Member states participate in and are concerned about the preventive activities of the Organization. Furthermore, it should identify the causes of success or failure of preventive actions. The thesis in its first part deals with the theory of conflicts in international relations and theory of their prevention, especially with preventive diplomacy and its tools. The second part presents the theory of conflict prevention from the UN perspective and indicates its actors, their roles and possibilities. The last chapter shows real UN action on several successful and unsuccessful examples of preventive diplomacy, peacemaking, peacekeeping and preventive deployment. Individual examples are evaluated on the basis of attained theoretical knowledge.
