Vliv vybraných potravin na hladinu glykémie
Habánová, Veronika
The thesis deals with the measurement of glucose levels at regular intervals in a selected group of volunteers after the consumption of breakfast cereals in combination with milk products. The theoretical part is devoted to the basic components of the diet and their digestion and metabolism. It also deals with the regulation of blood glucose level, methods for measuring glycemia, disorders related to metabolism of carbohydrates and the concepts of the glycemic index, glycemic load. The aim of the practical part was to find out how your chosen breakfast cereal in combination with dairy products have an effect on blood glucose levels in a selected group of volunteers. 16 students of the Mendel university in Brno were attended the experimental measurements. The students measured on the InBody, in order to determine composition of the human body. The level of blood glucose was always measured in time 0 (fasting), 60, 90 and 120 minutes from the beginning of the consumption of the food. Statistically significant difference was shown from measured values of blood glucose in 60. and 90. minute between the glucose solution, and breakfast cereals (P < 0.05).

This Bachelor thesis deals with the topic of Technological possibilities of beer brewing for special diet. It includes beer production and illnesses which obviate drinking this beverage in virtue of presence of undesirable substances. The first part of this thesis is aimed to description of ingredients which are used for brewing in the Czech Republic and also technological processes of beer production. Furthermore it describes celiac disease and thus gluten intolerance, because gluten is naturally occurred in beer. The second illness mentioned is diabetes mellitus causing a disability to break down the carbohydrates from the blood. The discussion of both diseases contains limitations of beer consumption and consequently various technological ways of production modifications which make the beer safe to drink for these patients. Last but not least the work deals with special nutrition focused on increased intake of specific group of substances, where beer can be used for its positive effects on human organism or as a carrier of added particular substances.
Vztah výživy a diabetu II. typu
Soumarová, Tereza
Diabetes Mellitus, or diabetes, is due to its increasing incidences and especially its severe complications becoming a very serious societal problem. It is often associated with a number of other diseases or disorders (e.g. metabolic syndrome), or can be one of the many causes of cancer. The origin of type II diabetes is in the vast majority of cases caused by external factors. One of the most important is nutrition which plays a major role in preventing often very serious complications of diabetes. In addition to medicamentous treatment, adjusting dietary habits (meal planning) along with physical activity is essential to treating type II diabetes. Unfortunately, we still encounter numerous fundamental errors and myths concerning right diet choices for diabetics and proper regimen measures. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to describe in a comprehensible manner which foods and their combinations are for the purposes of prevention and treatment of type II diabetes suitable and which are not.

Herentinová, Marie ; Kordulová, Pavla (advisor) ; Bohuslavová, Monika (referee)
An Introduction to the Topic and Why it is Significant: The numbers of patients with second type of diabetes mellitus is every year increasing. Whether is genetic predisposition for this kind of disease important, for increasing trend is provably crucial unhealthy life style. Imbalanced nutrition with domination of carbohydrates, absence of regular movement and finally gaining weight are the main factors. Diabetes is potentially very serious disease, in case is not properly treated, can caused serious results even rising of disability, for example kidney malfunction and than dialysis dependency, limb amputation or blindness. The treatment of this disease is based on non-pharmacological procurement as nutrition precautions and increasing of sport activities but also pharmacological treatment. Very important part of treatment is consistent, repetitive and effective education (Karen & Svačina, 2020). Methodology: For the elaboration of the bachelor's thesis, I chose a case study of a patient who was diagnosed with type 2 DM. Educational procedures are presented in a specific case. The aim of the work: Conducting basic education at the beginning of diagnosis. Implementation of a comprehensive education, which already deepens the acquired knowledge and skills from the basic. And the implementation of...
Detection of pathologies in retinal images
Mesíková, Klaudia ; Kolář, Radim (referee) ; Vičar, Tomáš (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to design and implement software for the detection of diabetes mellitus symptoms from the image of the human eye retina. Diabetic retinopathy is the most common disease affecting the retina. Pathologies connected with this disease can lead to partial or complete blindness. For the detection of pathological symptoms is important to correctly detect some parts of the eye retina such as optic disc and blood vessels. These can cause a problem with the identification of disease. After removing the optic disc and blood vessels, the pathology object is being detected.

Diabetes mellitus in equestrian sport in Czech Republic
Mašková, Marie ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Vařeková, Jitka (referee)
Title: Diabetes mellitus in Equistrian Sport in Czech Republic Objectives: The aim of the literature review part of the thesis was to give an introduction to the issue of diabetes mellitus as well as the effect of sport on the decompensation of the disease, to search for available sources on a narrowly focused topic - the impact of horse riding on diabetes mellitus, and to process the findings in a clear form into the first (literature review) part of the work. The goal of the second (research) part was to map, with the use of questionnaires and interviews, the situation of diabetes patients in the Czech Republic who do equestrian sport actively. In the case study their subjective feelings were reviewed. The main aim was to prove the positive impact of horse riding on diabetes mellitus, or more precisely to find out if it is stress or physical exertion that has a greater effect on the blood glucose (BG) level. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on the issue of public awareness of disease management as well as first aid. Methods: The first part of the thesis was carried out in the form of a literature review, for which research articles and other literature sources were found primarily on electronic information portals (mainly Web of Science, etc.) For the second (research) part a questionnaire (on the...
The knowledge of certain pupils in secondary schools from the area of North and Central Bohemia about selected diseases of civilisation
Jírová, Kateřina ; Hanušová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Váchová, Alena (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the problems of diseases of civilization. The work is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part explains what are diseases of civilization, how they arise and how they can be prevented. For each disease (coronary heart disease, obesity, diabetes, cancer) the thesis describes in more detail how and why they arise, what are the risk factors, what preventive measures exist and how to treat the disease. In the practical part, the thesis is devoted to the research of pupils' knowledge in the field of diseases of civilization of selected schools. Using a questionnaire, we dermined the knowledge of the pupils of two secondary schools and found the variance in their knowledge. Furthermore, this knowledge of pupils was compared with their knowledge two years ago when a similar questionnaire was completed in the same schools. The purpose of this thesis was to find out how the knowledge of identical pupils of these two schools changed after two years. The final discussion shows how the knowledge of pupils has changed after two years. It was found that pupils' knowledge improved overall. Cancer, diabetes and obesity knowledge have all improved. There was a slight deterioration in the question concern the number of patients. There was no change in the...
Study of the variations in the expression of different adhesion and cytoskeletal proteins of podocytes (E-Cadherin, Podocin, Vimentin) due to Bisphenol A
Chvojanová, Zuzana ; Kovařík, Miroslav (advisor) ; Němečková, Ivana (referee)
Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Department of Biological and Medical Sciences The University of Alcalá, Faculty of Medicine, Department of biomedicine and biotechnology Student: Zuzana Chvojanová Supervisor: PharmDr. Miroslav Kovařík, Ph.D. Consultant: María Isabel Arenas Jimenéz Title of the diploma thesis: Study of the variations in the expression of different adhesion and cytoskeletal proteins of podocytes (E-Cadherin, Podocin, Vimentin) due to Bisphenol A Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the most widespread compounds in the world, producing over 6 billion metric tons per year. It is widely used as part of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins, from which reusable plastic bottles, food boxes and some medical equipment are made. It is also used to coat the inner layer of the cans. Previous studies have shown that BPA contributes to many chronic diseases in the human body, such as kidney disease - diabetic nephropathy. Podocytes - terminally differentiated cells of the Bowman's capsule in glomerulus - are an integral part of the filtration barrier, where they play an important role in preventing the plasmatic proteins from penetrating to the urine. Therefore, in this study, we looked at the effect of BPA on these cells and their particular proteins, using both in vivo and...
The effect of maternal diabetes on embryonic cardiovascular development and fetal programing
Čerychová, Radka
Maternal diabetes mellitus negatively affects embryonic development and increases the risk for congenital malformations. Besides direct teratogenicity, diabetic intrauterine milieu can predispose an individual to chronic diseases later in life, including cardiovascular diseases, obesity, and diabetes mellitus, in a process termed fetal programing. Molecular mechanisms of embryonic and fetal responses to maternal diabetes are still not fully elucidated. Using mouse model, we show that maternal diabetes induces gene expression changes in the hearts of developing embryos. The most significant changes in the expression of 11 selected genes were detected at the developmental stage associated with completion of cardiac septation, myocardial mass expansion, and increased insulin production in the embryonic pancreas. These affected genes encode products involved in the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, a crucial process in heart development. Using immunohistochemistry, we detected increased hypoxia in the diabetes-exposed hearts at the critical stage of cardiac development. Correspondingly to increased hypoxia, the expression of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF1α) and vascular endothelial growth factor A was increased in the heart of diabetes-exposed embryos. Based on our results indicating the...
