Basal stimulation in hospice care
HRŮZOVÁ, Soňa
Current state The main purpose of Basale stimulation in hospice care is to offer terminally ill patients security that they aren?t alone and that somebody will be with them until the very last moments of their lives. In lenitive care we use basic and additional elements of basale stimulation, which allows us to ensure all the needs of the clients are always taken care of. This also expands opportunities of the nurses to be helpful to patients and it motivates them to achieve better results in the hospice treatments and care. Research objectives 1. Find out whether Basale stimulation improves the life quality of patients in hospice care 2 Find out how clients react to the techniques of Basale stimulation Research questions 1. Does Basale stimulation improve the lives of patients in the hospice? 2. How do the techniques of Basale stimulation affect the client/patient in the hospice? Methodology To complete the reserach part of the project we used qualitative research, where the method of data collection was interviewing the nursing staff and observing the patients in House of pain relief with St Joseph?s hospice in Rajhrad u Brna. Observation took place during the individual applications of Basale stimulation to clients and during the cooperation with the nurse. Information about the clients were also collected through the analysis of nursing and medical documents. Some of the results were processed through categorization and mindmaps. Research group The research group consisted of five patients from the House of pain relief with St Joseph?s hospice in Rajhrad u Brna. Two of these clients came from the Department of increased monitoring, where I merely assisted the nurse and observed the reactions of patients undergoing Basale stimulation. While conducting reserach with those two patients I interviewed the assisting nurse. With three other clients with regular care I carried out Basale stimulation for three days and observed their reactions to it. The reserach took place in January 2013. Results It is obvious from the reserach that Basale stimulation is beneficial and it improves the life quality of the patients in hospice care. Thanks to Basale stimulation, the clients are calmer and it is easier for them to communicate with the nursing staff, which is very important for improving their mental health. It also helps to establish trust with the patients and it opens up new opportunities for communication and possible confiding about their troubles, pain and relief. For the basic usage of Basale stimulation in lenitive care not all elements are necessarily beneficial; however, those used in this reserach are very easy to incorporate into basic nursing care and all of them were met with positive reactions from the clients. Conclusion The empirical part of my research was conducted through observation of patients to whom I personally applied Basale stimulation ? therefore I could easily evaluate how the techniques affected them. This research was interesting and intriguing; and it definitely enriched me with new insights and experiences. I believe Basale stimulation is still a highly underrated concept in some medical fields. On the other hand, the practice is time consuming and it is understandable that some only just have enough nurses to cover the basic care of the patients, therefore it is not always possible to provide this technique to the patients. After consulting the head nurse of the hospice the results of this study can be provided and in case of interest even presented in the House of pain relief with St Joseph?s hospice in Rajhrad u Brna. I also offered all of this work to PhDr. Karolina Friedlova. I also contacted centres offering hospice care, who provided some additional information for the theoretical part of my project and I offered to them the presentation of my work and of the acquired results.

Monitoring and Evaluation of the Services in Selected Types of Social Sphere
FABEROVÁ, Veronika
This thesis is focused on monitoring and evaluation of social services. Mentioned issue is not well known to the public, therefore I decided to process this topic. The social sphere is constantly changing and improving and new laws, amendments, regulations and ongoing social reforms come into force. We can say that many changes have taken place in this area of social services especially in the recent years. In the first part of this thesis I tried to outline this issue. This section contains three major subjects such as social services, monitoring and evaluation. Part Two, the research, is devoted to the application of theoretical knowledge from the literature into practice. The first section describes the methodics of the research and outlines the research questions. I chose a qualitative research because according to this topic a direct contact is important and therefore the interviews are better to be personal. It is also important because it gives us closer look at the organizations providing social services. With regard to the group of respondents, I have interviewed respondents in eight institutions. The institutions were chosen according to two criteria, firstly by target groups, i.e. the clients for whom the services are intended as the effort was to encompass the widest possible spectrum, and secondly according to the registered services that they provide in a way to represent all types of social services - social consulting, social services and social prevention services. The results are diverse because of the diversity of services and differences between the target groups. In all organizations the monitoring was carried out. The responses differed in the way of implementation and frequency. In conclusion, I can say from what I have observed, the clients are in good hands. The quality of provided services has increased, as well as their spectrum. In most cases the workers were passionate about their work and they try to bring something new into it. The thesis is underlined with attachments, diagrams and tables. This thesis may be beneficial because in my opinion it explores and outlines this issue.

Health and social activities of elementary schools in the region České Budějovice
PLCHOVÁ, Eliška
Today, school is viewed as a social institution whose traditional function is that of providing education to pupils of appropriate age groups. The concept and functions of school are subject to changes of social needs. Accordingly, health education is now gradually making its way into the curriculum: it is a subject that permeates many a school subject and various school activities. At the same time, the school has become a place where pupils socialize and it is also a place that supports their personalities and social development, preparing them for their personal, work and civic life. These two aspects ? health and social ? are not substitutable and complement each other. The objective of the present bachelor thesis is to describe the activities performed within the social sphere by primary schools in the region of České Budějovice. On the basis of a selected sample of school prevention methodologists, its aim is to ascertain the means, possibilities, goals and visions for the future these methodologists have, and what prevention programmes they support. Furthermore, the objective of the thesis is to discover who they cooperate with and if any changes are needed to remedy situations that prevent them from the realization of their plans. The theoretical part examines health and social activities that can be implemented by primary schools. Moreover, this part focuses on school prevention tools and how these problems can be communicated and integrated in classes. The last chapter delves into the arrangement of counselling at schools, and specifies the function and activity of the school prevention methodologist. Within the framework of the present bachelor thesis, research was conducted which was realized by means of a semi-guided interview with school prevention methodologists in 7 selected schools. These schools included the primary schools of Trhové Sviny, Borovany, Nové Hrady, Nedabyle. The following schools were selected in České Budějovice: Primary school of Vl. Rada - Madé, Matice školské and Kubatova. The findings of the said research have been processed into two categories, i.e. health and social school activities. These categories have been further divided into four equal sub-groups. The first sub-group gives the summary and description of activities of the aforesaid schools, the second sub-group examines the method of realization of health activities in schools, while the third section focuses on the cooperation between organizations and schools, and the last section explores plans and visions for the future. Within the present bachelor thesis, three research inquiries were postulated. ? Do primary schools prefer health acitvities to social activities? ? When implementing preventive programmes, do primary schools prefer cooperating with organizations to performing activities on their own? ? Do primary schools create and support activities for both pupils and their parents? The results of the present bachelor thesis may be utilized for further research in the given sphere. I believe that my bachelor thesis will become an information source for primary schools in the health and social sphere. I hope that the resulting data will be utilized by experts working with pupils in primary schools for the realization of other activities pertaining to the given problems.

The influence of the type of post-mining areas restoration on biodiversity {--} the model group of small mammals.
MIKLAS, Bořek
One way to assess restoration success is to examine the biodiversity in the newly created areas. We chose small mammals as biodiversity indicators because of their good reproductive capacity and invasive ability. The aim of the study was to compare different types of restoration from the small mammal biodiversity perspective. Small mammals were captured five times during the 2004 season at spoil heap localities with various types of restoration: agricultural, forest and wetland, using standard methods of capturing with snap traps in lines and quadrates.
