Water retention in the Úhlavka catchment area
Lukášová, Karolína ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Matějček, Tomáš (referee)
Water retention in the landscape is a very current topic these days. Thanks to a warming climate, we have to deal with hydrological extremes, erosion, or accelerated water runoff. If we choose to improve the retention capacity of the landscape, we can help transform flood waves, slow down runoff, and mitigate soil water erosion. In the agricultural landscape, we solve the mentioned problems by combining near natural measures and technical measures. This master thesis focuses on water retention in the Úhlavka basin, which is located in western Bohemia and forms a tributary of the Mže River. In the theoretical part, the physical-geographic properties of the area of interest and the rainfall-runoff process are characterized. A literature research is also carried out regarding retention, its components, and the factors influencing it. Furthermore, the individual types of measures that can be used to improve the state of retention in the landscape are also listed. The practical part offers a process of choosing a specific area for proposals in the Úhlavka basin. The Olešná basin was chosen, where the majority of the land cover is agricultural and, thanks to its geomorphological properties, it was also included in the list of critical areas. Three grassed strips, a swale, and strips of crops rotation...

The theoretical part presents the fundamental bases, methods and data sources which can be used to evaluate the evolution of landscape. An important part of the paper are physical-geographical and socio-economic characteristics and a description of historical development of the area, focusing on individual settlements and the industrial zone. The practical part focuses on land use analysis, maps creation and web application. Results of the land use analysis are summarised in chapter seven of the thesis. The web application presents the created land use maps along with additional photographs and texts. Key words: landscape transformation, land use, Malešice-Hostivař industrial area, ArcGIS Online

The theoretical part contains a research based on relevant sources, in which the specific terms associated with landscape memory of rural area are described in detail. The essential information about the microregion, its nature protection and landscapes, is also provided in this part. The detailed description and comparison of two selected cadastral municipalities are provided in the practical part. The comparative method is used to describe natural conditions and land use development in both cadastral municipalities. It is followed by the analysis of semi-standardized interviews with long-term inhabitants and local landscape values identification. The values are subsequently drawn into maps of the cadastral municipalities. Current state of the landscape values has been explored during the field investigations. The final part is dedicated to several suggestions for creating, preserving and renewing landscape values in both areas.
Golfová hřiště v kontextu posuzování vlivů na životní prostředí
Levá, Alice
The work is divided into three separate parts, each of which has its own tissues. The first part is devoted to the process of environmental impact assessment in general. It explains the purpose, principle and course of the process, and also describes the legislative framework that controles this process. The second part is dedicated to golf itself and the use and typology of the landscape. Here are explained the basic concepts and characteristics of the golf game, its history and the description golf courses according to the use of areas according to the cadastre. We can also find the classification of the Czech landscape and the typology of golf courses divided according to various aspects. The third, analytical part, which is at the same time the key part of this work, is devoted to the assessment of the use of golf courses in the Czech Republic and to the study of the EIA. The first chapter deals with the case study, comparison and evaluation of the information obtained concerning two selected golf courses and assessment of their impact on the environment. The second chapter deals with golf courses, their records and assessments within the EIA legislative process. The object of the work was to create a comprehensive golf course map, based on the map and the register, with a short description of the characteristics of each golf course, and to create the database of golf courses from the EIA information system. It also includes analysis and assessment of the impact of golf courses on the environment.

Detailed presentation of the influence of specific socio- political changes in agriculture and landscape was made by a case study in administrative region Tábor. The used concepts were described In the opening part as well as the main stages of development of agriculture and landscape in Czechia and in the model area. The main method used in the case study were semi-structured interviews with farmers, who were active in agriculture before 1948 and in the time of the research. According to the results of the research the influence of institutional driving forces significantly increased in comparison to the period before 1948. The results also showed to important role of non-productive functions of current agriculture. . Keywords: landscape, agriculture, driving forces, land use, intensification and...
Land use change in the Cheb area - new wilderness
Pekárková, Hana ; Bičík, Ivan (advisor) ; Matějček, Tomáš (referee)
The theses deals with exploration of new wilderness which comes into being in abandoned areas in border regions in the Cheb district. Using the newly defined transformation index, two cadastral territories in the district were identified with the highest probability of new wilderness occurence. The occurrence of a new wilderness was demonstrated in both cadastral areas and was categorized into typology already established. Photographs and ArcGis maps were added to the field survey. Post-habitat and post-agrarian new wilderness were identified in both cadastral territories. Further, there were identified post-montane and post-aquatic new wilderness. Despite the position near the border, where the Iron Curtain was located, post- military new wilderness was not identified there. New wilderness occurs in both localities on more than 10 % of area. Keywords: Land use, change of landscape, new wilderness, West Bohemia
Landscape changes in border areas of selected military bases in Bohemia since the second half of the 19th century
Hájek, Filip ; Chromý, Pavel (advisor) ; Jančák, Vít (referee)
This thesis deals with the long-term changes in the landscape of border areas of selected military bases in Bohemia  Brdy and Hradiště. Specifically, in these areas it is focused on land use changes since half of the 19th century to the present. Its main objective is to identify whether and to what extent military bases affect character and intensity of land use changes beyond their borders. The first part of the thesis is devoted to general solutions relating to the key topics/concepts representing thematic base for further work (landscape, spatial polarization and military bases). The methodology of this part is based on research and discussions of literature and other sources. In the second part of the thesis the focus is on the spatial definition and characteristics of both areas of our interest. The third part is based on the knowledge of the previous two parts, and is engaged in the land use changes research in both areas. This research has a quantitative nature and is based on the use of statistical data provided by the LUCC Czechia database, which were further processed and evaluated. Final part of the thesis is based on the results of the third part and discusses the possible impact of the military bases to changes in land use in the close border areas. Societal Driving Forces of LUCC in the Boží Dar Model Area, Krušné hory Mts., in 1842-2009
Kašková, Magdalena ; Fendrychová, Lenka (referee) ; Jeleček, Leoš (advisor)
The thesis deals with land use development in the model area Boží Dar, situated near the Czech-German border in the Krušné hory mountains, from 1845 to 2009. Based on an analysis of data taken from the LUCC Czechia Database, changes in land use patterns are explained and the primary driving forces, particularly societal forces, behind these changes are explored. This was made possible by analysing the historic-geographical development of the territory in question, focusing in particular on the last twenty years. Tendencies in land use development were similar to general trends for Czechia; however, they were more significant in the studied area. Major changes took place between 1949 and 1990. Besides the exodus of the Czech Germans after WW II, the primary factor of land use change was isolation, caused by the establishment of a border zone. Changes of similar importance, recorded in the 2000 - 2009 period, were caused by unique economic developments in Boží Dar. These are based on support for sustainable tourism, effectively drawing on financial resources from the EU and the active participation of local government administration. The most significant change was a decrease in permanent grasslands. At present, their overall area is increasing again, due to the renewed use of waterlogged land for...
