Senior cohousing

Senior cohousing is situated in the Moravian-Silesian Region in city Orlová and it is designed as complex. It is a new form of living for seniors in the Czech Republic. The loose translation could be „close neighbourly living for senior people. “ Access road to the complex is from Tešínská Street and then down the main road from the southeast on the car park. Near the car park there are three main buildings. Building A is the main common building for seniors’ meetings. Building B has a private doctor and a small gym. Building C is designed as technical premises. There are four types of family houses for seniors. Family house type 1 - in the complex 3x is suitable for two seniors. Family house type 2 - in the complex 2x is suitable for two seniors with moving difficulties. Family house type 3 - in the complex 3x is designed as semi-detached house for two senior couples. Family houses accommodate 30 seniors in 15 housing units. All the objects are brick, single-storey without cellar built up from HELUZ system with footings from plain concrete with foundation slab, flat roofs, contact insulation of perimeter walls, partly wood tiling. What is more, in senior cohousing there are senior playground, orchard park, lake, road inside the complex, pavements and paths.

This master’s thesis is focused on creation of business plan for creation of new company which offers services to seniors and employment of students at the same time. The base for formulation of SWOT analyse is analyse of external environment and branch analyse. Set up of strategy and the concrete business plan follow. Its practicability is supported by finance plan processed in variant.

This bachelor‘s thesis deals with the issue of bicycles for seniors and city traffic with additional electric drive. The introductory part deals with the influence of movement on human health. Further development and technical analysis of bicycles. This is followed by a comprehensive analysis of pedelecs and an outline of an ideal electric bike for seniors. In conclusion, there is my evaluation of this issue.
A Great House for a Small Town

The subject of this thesis is the conversion and extension of the former School of Industrial High School in Rousínov furniture and expansion of housing for the elderly. School buildings were built in the 70s of the 20th century and today are only partially and temporarily used, and are waiting for its rebirth. The aim of the project is to open the area to people and incorporate it into the daily life of citizens Rousínov. Cinema, restaurants, galleries, clubs and housing - it's all part of the new city center. Already incurred background builds housing for the elderly, which is its location in the heart of a quality place for the next stage of life. By activating these functions is an isolated island in the city center becomes a full-fledged part of the public space Rousínov. The first stage is the conversion of schools to the cultural and community center. Slogan conversion is cleansing. Clean up objects from unnecessary structures and layers of history. Show support structure and inject new energy into the buildings. The construction itself enables spatial play of vertical and horizontal surfaces. Space clubrooms and galleries are open to the second floor, housing units are designed as maisonettes. Everything is simple and functional. It remains only the pace of life, which objects to bring residents Rousínov. As a next stage will be created in the area of housing for seniors. Demand for housing for the elderly is still high and it's no different in Rousínov and surroundings. In the House of care service that is not on the edge and the capacity is insufficient. Therefore, the potential use of school premises in the town center is a suitable solution for senior housing. The proposal does not find one universal solution for all, but aims to promote the uniqueness and future residents based on their individual needs. Therefore, there is no one big complex retirement home, but three different objects according to the degree of autonomy of the population.
Evacuation of Disabled Persons from Hight Buildings

In the introductory part the Bachelor´s thesis solves an evacuation of people complex, especially its inclusion in valid legislation of Czech Republic. Secondly, the categorization of incidents and means of separation of evacuation. Then, this work gradates to an evacuation of persons with reduced mobility, with a focus on social care sphere. The aim is to define an incident and all factors affecting the evacuation of persons and the identification of facilities of escape routes in buildings with residential care. In the last part of my work are described recent state solutions of people evacuation in social care institutions, based on monitoring made of selected residental care providers.
Elderly driver as a traffic risc personality

The goal of this thesis is to determine the current risk factors for individuals who are 65 years or older and using public transportation. The theoretical portion contains comments from literary sources which deal with transportation phychology with a focus on lower the cognitive abilities and psycho-motor skills and their effect as Well as the assistance features of cars. The analytical portion describes the future development of an aging population, ratings of statistics showing the accident proneness of senior citizens, examples of accidents, and casuistry from transport psychologist workplace. An analysis of the results from measuring reaction time of seniors and to compare it with younger generations. The final portion is dedicated to solutions that may be able to contribute to lower the number of accidents involving seniors of public transportation grounds.
Rehabilitation Former Jaselsky Barracks Area in Brno

The urban design for an area of former barracks Jaselská kasárna in Brno is based on an effort to create sustainable town structure, which allows a free movement of inhabitants through the area. The lot is well connected to the city centre and has a good accessibility to public transportation. More over it is situated in a rather quiet part of Brno. Designed houses are oriented parallel to Štefánikova and Staňkova street. The design is defined by two types of public space – square and park. Nursing home for elderly is situated on their edge. The residents of the home have the opportunity to visit both public spaces. Shops and services are within the walking distance. Due to its location in the center of the new dwelling resort, the elderly stay a part of society and they will not feel useless.

The role of sipping in the nutritional support of geriatric patients

Introduction: Malnutrition is a significant problem in old age. Malnutrition is present in 30 - 70 % of hospitalized elderly and its consequences are severe. Systematic screening and early treatment are essential to ensure and maintain good health in the elderly and are an integral part of overall geriatric care. Nutritional support with sipping - oral nutriti- onal supplements (ONS) is one of the basic approaches in the management of malnutriti- on in geriatric patients. Aim of the thesis: The main aim of this thesis was to evaluate the intake of sipping in geri- atric patients and to monitor possible pitfalls in its use. To answer the main objective, four research questions were set to provide the following answers: 1. What proportion of the total energy intake (CEP) of a patient is from diet and from sipping, and how does gender and age affect energy intake from sipping ? 2. What proportion does dietary and sipping protein make up of the patient's prescribed intake? 3. Will the diet, including sipping, cover the patient's energy and protein needs? 4. Will patients drink their prescribed dose of sipping, and will certain factors such as education by the nutritional therapist and ability to eat affect the patient's in- take of sipping?
