The Reconstruction, and the Re-use of the St. Thomas Yard in Brno

Bachelor’s thesis deals with reconstruction and re-use of listed buildings of St. Thomas Yard in Brno. Good transport connectivity, pleasant surroundings and proximity of several academic buildings have predetermined this area for a new purpose instead of the inappropriate current one – in the future, leisure time centre offering hobby groups, sport activities, study rooms, gallery, café and parking-site should be sited here. Urban concept consists of building block with a park compound. There are three listed buildings with decorated frontals to be preserved, complemented by brand new lightweight low-profile structures. Modern objects situated next to the historical ones are designed to be transparent by means of suspended glassed-in exterior with distinctive sun shading elements on the south facade. Other buildings are specific for their single-pitch vegetative roofs emphasizing peaceful nature of the park.
Reconstruktion and new plan of St. Tomas court in Brno

The St. Tomas Court is the official historical monument of Brno city dated back to end of 18th century. This thesis is dedicated to reconstruction and rebuilding of the whole building whose premises are currently used by a horse riding club. The purpose of this thesis is to maintain the original symetric composition of the courtyard. The yard area creates an inner space which will be used for verdure redesign including a lounge area. The inner structure will be enclosed by terrain stands. That will create a decent green area in the city centre which could be freely used by general public for relaxation purposes. The whole rebuilding will turn the building into a cultural-commercial premises. The left part of the building will be dedicated for a multipurpose cultural hall. The main building will be used for administration and other related activities. The right wing is going to be turned into cafe, shop and administration unit.
TRANSFORMATION OF THE POST-INDUSTRIAL AREA OF MODETA JIHLAVA

The subject of this bachelor thesis is an urban and architectural study on the transformation of the post-industrial area Modeta in Jihlava. The layout reflects the close proximity of the factory to the Jihlava zoo and the needs of the city as the owner of the building. The complex is multifunctional and reconstruction disturb expressive character of buildings and existing structures.
The Renovation of the Main station in Brno

This thesis deals with restoration and repurposing of main train station building in Brno. It consists of Building permit documentation and part of Documentation for execution of the project, both of which are based on architectonic study created as part of course AG33 - Architectural Design Studio III. during previous studies. The building is situated in Brno city centre, district Brno – Střed, cadastral area (municipality of) Město Brno (610003). The project assumes that the main train station will be moved ca 800 meters to the south, leaving the current train station building unused. The project incorporates a conceptual study of a new purpose for the historic building and nearby railway junction, including its interconnection with near surroundings. Detailed solution describes a new hotel building, which will replace current newest wing of the train station. The main idea of the transformation is to keep as much of the historic building and valuable structures as possible, avoid increasing the building footprint and bring new life to the building and city centre. The attractiveness of the site will be enhanced by a new park located in the area currently occupied by the railway junction. The park will be connected to the 2nd floor of the Tesco shopping centre and Vaňkovka shopping gallery by a pedestrian bridge. Parking capacity will be provided by a new underground car park built below the railway junction. Additionally, modern version of the original tower above the main hall, which was destroyed during World War II, will be built. The new hotel building, as well as all repairs and changes (new tower) will follow a modern style, while respecting and enhancing the historic Art Nouveau building and genius loci of the place.
A Great Opportunity for Municipal Palace

The subject of this thesis is an architectural study of reconstruction of chateau in Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou. The chateau is a cultural heritage but it is currently abandoned and derelict. The new usage is aimed at bringing life back to the chateau grounds and atracting turists into the city. The building is used polyfunctionaly. It serves as a galerry, wine bar, hotel and cafe. The multifunctional hall, reprezentative room and ceremony hall are also included. The part of the plan is a garden designed to enhance the chateau atmosphere. The front yard is decorated with a fountain, benches and flower beds. Behind the chateau is a courtyard with a seating area for cafe guests, a herb garden, amphitheatre for musical and cultural events and a parking lot for visitors.
Industrial and military architecture of seaports, comparative analysis of reconversion of industrial and military heritage

During World War II, seaports Brest, Lorient and Saint-Nazaire were heavily destroyed because of their strategic location on the Atlantic coastline. Those historical events could be considered as new opportunities for the seaports to realise new thoughts and ambitious architectural projects in order to improve the functionality of the urban organism. In these days, a new occasion has come. Military and industrial areas, which were always thoroughly separated from the town centres, have been now releasing from their original activity. There are huge free building sites in the middle of the cities, waiting for the urban architects.
Conversion of freed castle original facility(service) buildings, Zdar nad Sazavou

An extensive historical estate of the Kinsky family connected with the Žďár nad Sázavou monastery and create a remarkable set of cultural and natural heritage. Monastery owners, the Kinsky family, are seeking for a long time to evaluate this legacy, and therefore, has recently decided to prepare concrete reflection on the development and rehabilitation of the monastery and its accessories by preparing a global strategy for the concept of building development and its tourist use. The ambition of the Kinsky family is to develop in Žďárka a project of an important monument and Cultural center with European fame. Their will is to create from this place an important example of cultural and tourist development beyond the territory The presence of a unique collection of Baroque culture and architectural monuments from the Jan Blažej Santini (pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk, The Monastery, the Abbey, the Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, the Riding Hall, the Cemetery, the Lyra Farm, the Chateau) make this area a unique monument and an important cultural heritage of the Czech Republic. The area of the monastery with its surroundings opens the strong potential of free space in the remarkable historical buildings capable of transforming cultural, tourist and commercial functions of all types: cultural events, expositions and exhibitions, seminars, accommodation, restaurant operations. Recently, the topic of the public cultural space has become more recent. These are new cultural buildings where people can meet, have fun and learn every day, spend their free time every day. Earlier, communism times fulfilled this function with cultural buildings. But modern life dictates new demands and functions of public space. Today it assumes more interactive space than before. Person works with space and architecture, engaging in activities. A new urban space is emerging, which opens up for a full-day multifunctional use - a cultural area. On the basis of the analysis of the solved territory, a proposal dealing with the whole locality of economic premises of the monastery was elaborated as a complex whole whose main aim was to create a functional and aesthetic environment. The site is situated in the area of the Cistercian monastery, which is located between two ponds. Next to the monastery there is a public transport stop and a public car parking. Design territory is defined by the monastery's backyard area. In addition, there is a functioning elementary school. The project is based on minimalism and respect for the place. Combined with the historical basis of the complex, a new cultural unit will be created. The cultural center is multifunctional, which corresponds to a simple and clearly arranged operation allowing for a wide range of cultural and educational activities, which can be attended by both: tourists and children from the local elementary school. The proposed multifunctional cultural facility meets the basic requirements for organizing cultural events of diverse character, such as theater, film and music performances, shows, balls, dance and sports courses and other social activities. It also provides facilities for families, mothers with children and open-air events during the summer months.
Design and operation of the coworking space

The diploma thesis solves the new utilization and renovation of an industrial building near the Baťa canal in the village of Huštěnovice which was used as former pumping station for agricultural purposes. The aim was to find such uses that will support the development of the adjacent area and at the same time will also refer to the original usage of the building. New community centre „PŘÍLIV“ with aquaponics connects both of them and what is more, it offers modern connection of people with nature. The construction plan is solved as a complex project form architectural study, through the project for the building permit to the design of the aquaponics technology itself. Project of the community centre and aquaponics is designed as off-grid building with minimal environmental impact.
The Reconstruction of Zlín Chateau

The base of Bachelor Thesis is the architectural study wich was done in summer semester of the third year of the bachelor´s studies. The topic of this study was rocontruction and new use of chateau in town of Zlín. Until recently, the build was just restaurant and Museum of Southeastern Moravia. Now the Zlín chateau offers new restaurant with own small kitchen, cafe, wine cellar, learning centre for people of all ages, offices for beginning and small businessman, there is also small library with playroom for children and especially gallery in attic space with observation towers. Reconstruction does not alter the historic character of the chateau, therefore I want to use here just mild colours and simple materials like glass, concrete, metal and wood. From the new constructions we have got here the most outstanding ones, like four corner observation towers, new elevator in concrete tube and glass roof above courtyard.
The Restoration of the Country Court of Zlín

The base of bachelor thesis is the architectural study which was done in summer semester of the third year of the bachelor´s studies. The topic of this study wasthe restoration of the former zlín country court. The complex is multifunctional, individual services include a cafeteria, a library and bookshop, art gallery and exhibition space. Reconstruction does not alter the historic character of the chateau, therefore i want to use here just mild colours and simple materials like brick, glass and metal. From the new constructions is the most striking additions from the southern side.
