Optimization in selected engineering problems

The goal of this paper is a basic understanding of elementary concepts of the mathematical programming field and an aplication of such concepts for the optimization of machine design. The subject of nonlinear optimization is put under deeper scrutiny and so are solution methods of nonlinear problems. This paper also contains essential findings about shafts in the context of engineering components. In the practical part these findings are applied for an optimization of a shaft where the goal is to minimize the shaft’s weight.

This bachelor thesis deals with the use of optimization in the problems of beam loading and buckling stability. The problems were solved in the GAMS software. The solutions of the first two problems is compared with results obtained using software Ansys. It also contains chapters on basic optimization theory, the theory of ordinary differential equations and a chapter on selected concepts in mechanics of materials.
Modeling of system motors with flexible component

This thesis deals with problem of experimental identification using principles of artificial intelligence and development of nonlinear models. It shows how to estimate parameters of nonlinear models and it compares different types of nonlinear models based on analytical analysis which were developed from measured data in simulation and real system motors with flexible component.

On Parameterization of Long-wave Radiation in Small Mountain Basin in Sumava Mts

The incoming and outgoing longwave radiations are often estimated from empirical relationships with a number of calibration coefficients. When testing the parameterization of available components of longwave radiation in the frame of a small mountaineous catchment we were able to demonstrate the reliability and robustness of calculating the outgoing longwave radiation. The estimate of net longwave radiation is burdened by considerable uncertainty, which could not be reduced by calibration of the coefficients.
