Multigenerational Coexistence / Happy Living in a Castle
Habancová, Anežka ; Dvořák, Tomáš (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
Previously, the bulk of the population lived in rural areas. The whole family lived there together in the family house on the same property. Young helped the elderly and old to their offspring, with households with children, with the economy. With the advent of industrialization and mobilization, many young people moved into the cities, to work, to the newly constructed blocks of residential houses, which were rather less than they could live with a large extended family. Mutual cooperation was suddenly far away. The town has more people, more jobs and more older people, which the state took care of them - homes for the elderly - retirees concentration in one place, without daily contact with young, with family. Thanks to good quality of health care older people is increasing and this problem is must be solved. The country has still semi-detached houses and multigenerational houses, where the family lived with grandparents, but in the city is hard to find to buy or rent two apartments near each other. The main concept of my work is to create a semi-detached flats, flats with common vestibule, which connects one smaller and one larger apartment. Use the castle for this principle is more than appropriate - will be returned the housing for the family and each of generation finds in the castle grounds space for their activities or employment. This area still remains open to inhabitant of the city and offer them new possibilities for leisure (restaurants and an amphitheater).
Mapping the role of the child in generation gap
Hrdličková, Michaela ; Zvírotský, Michal (advisor) ; Richterová, Magdalena (referee)
In my bachelor's thesis entitled Mapping the role of the child in intergenerational relationships using case studies, I focused on the important role of family upbringing in the life of the child and his/her relationship with the grandparents. Through qualitative research I looked for differences in parenting. In my small scale research sample, I met children who showed interest in their grandparents. In my work, I examined both people who are caring or have cared for a loved one and their reasons for doing so, as well as the elderly who are being cared for. I was interested in how satisfied they are with their care, and whether there is a difference between seniors who are intensively cared for by their loved ones or who are dependent on the care of other people in a facility. From the questionnaires I found out that people who care for someone regularly are extremely mentally and physically exhausted, but they do it gladly and with love. Some feel it is an obligation, but if they are able to provide care themselves, they always want to take care of their loved one. Seniors, whether living at home or in a facility, are happy to have someone helping them with their care and they are not alone. How each person deals with their old age is very individual, it depends on their satisfaction with the...

Linking Family Care and Personal Assistance
BRABCOVÁ, Jana
Currently, old age and associated issues of care for the elderly are very topical problem in terms of the demographic changes in society. This BA thesis responds to the changes in the society-wide climate caused by population ageing. This BA thesis focuses on linking of family care and social care in accordance with the Social Services Act No. 108/2006 Coll. These are examined in the context of a particular field social service providing personal assistance. The aim of this thesis is to establish what options and limits exist in terms of care for the personal assistance client who is concurrently attended toby a family member or members. The thesis emphasizes several fundamental topics. It focuses predominantly on the importance of family care and personal assistance services, relations between generations, and the role of the elderly and their family in providing care. For the empirical part of the BA thesis a strategy of qualitative research was chosen, using methods of participant observation and focus groups. Obtained data were divided into four areas on the basis of the examined phenomenon, and these were analysed into research results. The focus group consists of twelve personal assistants of the organisation who were selected by exhaustive selection method. The subsequent analysis of obtained data assessed what situations of the combined form of care most often lead to conflicts and difficulties. These include mainly miscommunication among the client, personal assistant and family, conflicts of interests, family disputes, domination, necessity to reduce the load on the family, and obtaining information on care. In conclusion, the results of both theoretical and practical part demonstrated that the essence of the combined care can be fully accomplished only under the condition of effective communication and cooperation of all parties involved - personal assistant, client, and family.
The Opportunities of Intergenerational Solidarity in the Senior Nursing Homes in the Pilsen Region
SLÁMOVÁ, Kamila
The thesis called "The Opportunities of Intergenerational Solidarity in the Senior Nursing Homes in the Pilsen Region" deals with intergenerational activities, activities that run between the retirement homes and school facilities in the Pilsner Region. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and an observational part. Theoretical part of the thesis deals with questions connected with age structure of the population, intergenerational relationships, solidarity and education. At the same time it deals with intergenerational cooperation, intergenerational programs and with importance of the intergenerational cooperation in international documents. For the observational part a qualitative research was chosen. For this part its goal, methodology and a schedule were defined. Primarily methods of questioning and semi structured interview were chosen. The interviewees were staff of the retirement homes in the Pilsen Region. The research group was formed of the staff that performs intergenerational projects. Secondarily a method of general data analysis, literal transcription technique, coding, data categorization and the method of forming clumps. To answer the research questions the obtained data were evaluated and interpreted according to the individual research questions. The research mapped activities within the intergenerational projects. They deal with long-term meeting and cooperation between senior citizens and school children. Thanks to the intergenerational projects a permanent intergenerational cooperation was enabled. Senior citizens may live a large part of the final stage of their lives in an active way according to their inner mentality and fulfil their higher needs. Intergenerational cooperation has its difficulties such as insufficient time span, insufficient room for activities, ageism or wrongly chosen communication between the given generations but still the intergenerational projects have been carried out to fulfil the set goals gradually. Within performing the intergenerational projects even the goals expected from such programs on the national and international level have been gradually fulfilled. The intergenerational cooperation has been strengthened thanks to such projects in the retirement homes. The intergenerational projects are thus reflected positively in gradual strengthening of the intergenerational relationships and solidarity which has been much needed to supress constantly growing ageism in the society. The result of the thesis may be used as feedback not only for the management and staff of the Pilsen Region retirement homes but also for management and staff of other organizations who may stand up for performing of the intergenerational projects in their facilities. Appropriately they may be used as studying materials for humanities or social work students or as a background material within next intergenerational solidarity research. In relation to the current Covid-19 situation in the Czech Republic it would be reasonable to consider using of the virtual communication through appropriate platforms. Thanks to the modern communication technologies the intergenerational cooperation in the retirement homes could proceed further.
