Contemporary Cirkus as a Dramatic Art. From Contemporary Cirsuc Performance Analysis to is Aesthetic Discourse
Štefanová, Veronika ; Christov, Petr (advisor) ; Drozd, David (referee) ; Pšenička, Martin (referee)
This dissertation introduces contemporary circus as a type of dramatic art. The work thus provides a basic framework for the analysis of contemporary circus and suggests a terminology for the designation of its specific traits. This terminology is derived first and foremost from the Czech theatre studies environment. The theoretical delineation of contemporary circus stems from selected theses from Otakar Zich's The Aesthetics of Dramatic Art and Erika Fischer-Lichte's The Transformative Power of Performance: A New Aesthetics. Contemporary circus, which is depicted as belonging to several discourses - historical, aesthetic, cultural policy and pedagogical, is described from a formal as well as content-focused point of view in order to best point out how the circus element changes and takes on meaning in relation to its theatrical counterpart. The thesis is subdivided into five parts. The introduction outlines the key theme, goals and methodology as well as terminology and theories which provide the work with a suitable point of departure. The Contemporary and Traditional Circus chapter describes the history and development of traditional as well as contemporary circus in selected countries (France, Canada, USA, Scandinavia) which are considered significant within the context of circus arts...
Otakar Zich's The Aesthetics of Dramatic Art and the issue of inner-tactile perception
Bezděk, Ester ; Kaplický, Martin (advisor) ; Dykast, Roman (referee)
This bachelor thesis is primarily focused on Otakar Zich's theory of Dramatic art. The first part, which is the main part of this work, deals with Zich's approach to drama in general, localising the thought of inner-tactile perception afterwards. Inner-tactile perception is presented as a crucial part of Zich's theory. Not only it is a part of the process of creation, but also of perception of drama itself. The second part of this thesis is an addendum to Otakar Zich's theory. This part is a response to Zich's thought of inner-tactile perception in current aesthetic theories of proprioception. In context of several aesthetic theories it is shown what proprioception is and what role it plays in aesthetic situation. It also reveals a relationship to Zich's inner-tactile perception. Theme of Psychical Distance in Otakar Zich's Concept of Dramatic Art
Pátek, Filip ; Kaplický, Martin (advisor) ; Zuska, Vlastimil (referee)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the comparison of the concept of psychical distance of Edward Bullough with the concept of dramatic art of Otakar Zich. Bullough at the key points of his essay on psychical distance refers to the dramatic art, but unified concept of this art he does not present. Zich in his work, which tries to present unified concept of dramatic art, does not refer directly to Bullough's concept of distance, but it is still possible to find in the works of both authors analogical moments. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to find these moments and systematize them. The first part of this work deals with the presentation of Bullough's concept of psychical distance, the second part deals with the presentation of Zich's concept of dramatic art and the third part is devoted to the comparison of Bullough's views with selected themes of Zich's aesthetics of dramatic art. Keywords psychical distance * aesthetic attitude * dramatic art * theatre * semantic idea

ČERNÍKOVÁ, Lucie
This work will deal about issue of scene in dramatic art. My intention is to show how it is possible to define the scene and the role of scene in the dramatic arts. It describes the way the drama teach the children in an entertaining way to explore the world they are living in, to appreciate the literature of the past and to get familiar with the literature of the present. These aspects are depicted on a specific example of drama in education. The teacher chooses an attractive or up-to-date topic and the children play the story while looking at the issue from a different perspective, think over the consequences of their actions and search for the optimal solution of the problem, which develops further their social intelligence.
Aesthetic Distance and Theatre
LOUKOTOVÁ, Veronika
The basic topic of the Bachelor Thesis Aesthetic Distance and Theatre is the explanation of basic characteristics of ?psychical distance? as described in ?Psychical Distance? as a Factor in Art and as an Aesthetic Principle by Edward Bullough. At first, the thesis deals with the distance in general, explains Edward Bullough?s terminology ? the conception of distance, the conception of ?psychical distance?, and the antinomy and variability of distance. Then it concentrates specifically on distance in the art and tries to demonstrate the facts obtained by examples in individual kinds of art. The thesis also contemplates the distance as an aesthetic principle whereby the problems of the ?beautiful? and the ?pleasant? can be explained in aesthetics. Further, this Bachelor Thesis aims at the distance in artistic creation and tries to describe it in one selected kind of art ? the art of drama. The aim of the thesis is to prove that there are several theories of acting, which are extremely different in opinion of distance of actor. The thesis, in concord with the facts gained from Edward Bullough?s text, leans to the theory which is near to the two noted theoreticians of art ? Denis Diderot and Bertolt Brecht. The thesis also aims to give a true picture of their innovative thoughts and views concerning theatre.
