The importace of the Hildprandt von Ottenhausen Family for Blatná region

The aim of this thesis is to point out the various contributions (cultural, economic, political, entrepreneurial, etc.) of the aristocratic family Hildprandt von Ottenhausen for Blatná region. At the begining, various views on the determination of the Blatná reigon are compared. The history of the family line is also reviewed. Most attention is given to the activites of the Hildprandt family which were beneficial for the Blatná region. Hildprandts von Ottenhausen contributed to the development of the Blatná castle, they also remade the adjacent forest to a park. Thanks to them, industrial activities (sugar industry, distilling industry or beer industry) flourished in this region and many people became employed in these companies or on the farm owned by the Hildprandts. Many prominent persons visited Blatná, as guests of the noble family, amongst these persons was Franz Ferdinand d'Este, heir to the Austrian monarchy, or an indian maharaja. Hildprandts employed some of the Czech patriots (Jan Evangelista Purkyně a Antonín Jaroslav Vrťátko), those patriots taught next generations of the family love for their country. The thesis describes the history of the school T. G. Masaryk in Blatná in the years 1967-1989. The first chapter is an introduction. The second chapter describes the history of the town of Blatná, the next chapter deals with the history of the school building. The fourth to eighth chapters contain a description of the individual stages of development of the Blatná school depending on events in society, changes in the regime, the course of individual school years, cultural events and attractions.

COUNTESS SERENI AND THE TOWN OF BLATNA The thesis is not only a contribution to the regional history of Blatná nad Blatná district, but also a probe to the life of a baroque noble marital pair. The first part of the study (the 1st and 2nd chapters) takes heed of the research survey up to now, mainly of the personality of J.P.Hill, and the summary of sources. The reader is also acquainted with the life milestone of Marie Alžběty (Mary Elizabeth), countess Sereni, née Waldstein (1698 - 1787), and her husband, count Josef (Joseph) Sereni. The Blatná demesne was under their rule in the period of 1709 to 1787 (part 3.1). Part 3.2 deals with the official career of count Josef Sereni. Chapters 4 and 5 present an insight to the everyday life of barogue nobility, mainly through the medium of preserved accounts of the count household; the author deals with the question of banqueting, their residences, domestic stuff and wardrobe, primarily taking account of noble self-presentation. Its specific form - the problems of family legends - is analysed in chapter 6. The most extensive chapter (No 7) deals mainly with widowed Marie Alžběta's activities at Blatná demesne, namely through baroque religiosity. Social and Demographic Development of the Manor Blatna in 17th-19th Century

The topic of this diploma thesis is the social and demographic progress in manor Blatna in the 17th-19th century. During almost three hundred years' period the various demographic indicators are monitored, such as natality, nuptality, mortality but there are also described other detailed problems (f.e. illegimate children, multiple births, causes of death, sizes of individual villages, etc.) In addition to information obtained from the register books the thesis author uses all kind of different sources, such as seigniorial registers or censuses, which enable to study the population social status of this south-czech manor, especially their occupation, or the actual amount of dependants. In the final section of the diploma thesis there is presented the list of all cognomens and surnames, which occured in that period in manor Blatná.
