Regional disparities and their possible solutions
Kahánková, Jana ; Boháčková, Ivana (advisor) ; Zdeňka, Zdeňka (referee)
The main topic of the dissertation is mapping of regional disparities in Czech Republic. It is focused at regions of NUTS 3 level. NUTS 3 coresponds the level of lowest territorial administrative region of state administration (district and region level). The dissertation is devided in two parts, theoretical and practical. Theoretical part includes solutions from scholar literature and reliable sources. Practical part is oriented on regional differences in economic and social dimension. The research of regional disparities by selected indicators is the key part of this dissertation. The dissertation aim is quantification of regional differences and follow-up evaluation of applied measures towards regions.
Sensory evaluation of wafers by consumer test
Kaňka, Martin ; Kouřimská, Lenka (advisor) ; Zdeňka, Zdeňka (referee)
This thesis deals with a consumer test, which was conducted with a questionnaire survey. For research four kinds of Austrian Manner wafers were used Neapolitaner, Vollkorn, Vanilla, Zitrone. The thesis is focused on the difference between the expected and perceived impressions of all flavored wafers. It further compares the result of research carried in Austria and Vietnam. The questionnaire was presented to 123 respondents. The distribution of the number of men and women was similar as in Austria and in Vietnam.
The Incidence of Typical Diseases of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Breed.
Homonická, Vendula ; Sedmíková, Markéta (advisor) ; Zdeňka, Zdeňka (referee)
Summary The thesis is focused on the incidence of inherited diseases such as the patellar luxation (LP), episodic falling syndrome (EF), dry eye and curly coat syndrome (CC/DE) and eye defects in the population of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (CKCHS) breed in the Czech Republic. It builds on the bachelor thesis focused on the incidence of degenerative heart disease called the myxomatous valve degeneration (MVD) in CKCHS. In 2003 the Czech Republic introduced a recovery breeding program following the example of some European countries, whose objective is the systematic monitoring of the CKCHS population restoring the health of the breed. The aim of the study was to evaluate the above-mentioned diseases in the CKCHS population of the Czech Republic and to find any potential correlation with sex, age and coat colour. LP is a polygenic and multifactorial disease. From a set of 360 individuals 16.7% males and 22.2% females were diagnosed positive for LP. The difference between the sexes and between age groups was not statistically significant. It was, however, found a weak correlation between diagnosed dislocation of the patella and coat colour. Most individuals diagnosed with LP were Black and Tan, while Tricolour was represented the least. Alleles for EF and CC/DE (EF/CC) are hereditary were not proven for any other breeds than CKCHS. Of the evaluated group of 337 individuals 25.9% males and 20.8% females were carriers of the EF/CC alleles. In the case of these diseases was also no statistically significant difference between males and females. Moderately strong correlation was found between EF/CC alleles presence and the coat colour. The majority of individuals positively diagnosed for EF/CC alleles were Black and Tan, and Ruby. Most individuals positive for the above mentioned alleles were aged up to three years, but statistically significant differences between age categories were not confirmed. Hereditary eye defects were from the whole set documented for only three individuals. Therefore, the correlation of the incidence of this disease with age, sex and coat colour was not statistically evaluated.
Risk of medical waste management
Veselá, Michaela ; Zimová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Zdenka, Zdenka (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the medical waste management in the Czech Republic. The research part describes the medical waste management from production to disposal. At the same time, there are risks characterizes in the waste management. The thesis analyzes waste production of catalog number 18 01 in the Czech Republic and in the individual regions. At the conclusion of the thesis results are presented. The practical part describes the waste management at the Institute for the Care of Mother and Child and in the Bulovka hospital. The thesis describes healthcare facilities and process of waste management through the directive, which employees have to direct. Then is made analysis of data which is compared to the waste production of catalog number 18 01. The thesis is based on field surveys, where specific waste management are determined.
The use of inovative sorbents for immobilization of Zn in soil
Řečínská, Magdalena ; Vítková, Martina (advisor) ; Zdeňka, Zdeňka (referee)
Amorphous manganese oxide has been already successfully tested as an efficient amendment for limiting the mobile fraction of risk elements in soil. However, its application is accompanied with an unsolicited phenomenon of increased dissolution of this agent related to oxidation of soil organic matter. For that reason, surface modification of the studied Mn oxide with the layer of MnCO3 has been proposed (Sm-AMO). The subject of this thesis is to assess the effectiveness of chemical stabilization of two contaminated soils using Sm-AMO with a focus on Zn and to verify the stability Sm-AMO based on laboratory experiments. The results of preliminary stability testing of both materials in demineralized water confirmed that Sm-AMO is less soluble than the original AMO. However, this fact was not confirmed by the results of testing of AMO and Sm-AMO performed using pH-static leaching experiments, when no differences were observed between AMO and Sm-AMO stability based statistical analysis, except for the natural pH (6.03) in the Litavka soil (soil L). Both sorbents yielded greater stability with increasing pH. Adsorption kinetics of Pb, Zn, Cd and As, which are present in the tested soils, onto AMO and Sm-AMO was studied to compare the adsorption properties of both materials. Affinity of these metals was generally higher towards AMO, but the recorded equilibrium time was similar for both sorbents. The results of adsorption kinetics for both materials tested showed the highest sorption rate and the highest adsorbed amount for Pb and the lowest for Zn. Similar results were also observed at pH-static leaching experiment. Stabilization effectiveness of Sm-AMO compared to AMO was mainly demonstrated for Pb and As under natural pH conditions (pH 6,03 and 6,43) of Litavka and Smolotely soils. Considering the stabilization of Zn statistically significant stabilizing effect of AMO/Sm-AMO was observed only at pH 8, when the AMO showed to be more effective. The effectiveness of Sm-AMO for the immobilization of Zn was not as significant as expected, but compared with other immobilization amendments Sm-AMO is an effective sorbent for Zn stabilization.
