Transformations of the centre in the hinterland of medieval Prague: the stronghold in Praha-Vinoř

(in English) he presented work is a summary of the results of systematic research of the Praha-Vinoř hillfort carried out for last several years under the direction of the Institute of Archaeology of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. The location can be seen as unique testimony to the transformation of the centre in the hinterland of Prague. Its significance and function have changed substantially in the past. The oldest identified early medieval component is represented by the relics of a hall-like structure of great dimensions and an elite burial of a young girl located in its interior. The second important horizon of past activities is a creation of a large scale early medieval cemetery in the area surrounding this (perhaps still standing) building. According to well-known analogies and other numerous indications, it can be assumed that there was also a church, but the only excavated situation that allows us to consider this interpretation are the relics of a stone structure discovered on the southern edge of the necropolis. Already at the time of the burial ground the hillfort was gradually losing its importance and in the end its function was probably reduced to just a centre of a local church administration. Stará Kouřim- the revision of the selected sections from the archeological excavasion made by M. Šolle.

This thesis deals with the revision of archaeological research at Stará Kou im. This locality was excavated between 1948 and 1957 by M. Šolle. Sixty years after the end of the Stará Kou im research, some conclusions need to be reinterpreted. The paper was mainly focused on the revision of the middle fortifications research and brought new, unpublished results. Rural settlement as the basic unit of a medieval settlement on the example of Dřetovice

This Master thesis is dedicated to the early medieval settlement in the wider of the thesis is created by the location Na blatech. This site was investigated from 1977 - Ivan Krutina, Petr Sommer and Jan Rulf. A plan of all investigated objects and areas is also included. Furthermore, attention is focused on the older excavation completed by llowed up those excavations. It has been proven, this settlement was occupied from the beginning of the early medieval (Prague type culture) to the high middle ages. Therefore, it is possible to compare particular horizons of occupation and the changes in the structure of the settlement pattern. The area of interest was very well investigated from the archelogy point of view. Not only for this reason had we paid attention to the circumjacent early and high medieval settlement. In the time period when the stronghold and settlements in its vicinity, arises. This part of the thesis is based on the list of locations and created maps of evidence of occupation. The architecture and structure of housebuilding on early medieval centres

(in English): The main objective of this thesis is the evaluation of remains of structures uncovered by rescue archaeological excavations in Stará Boleslav. Practical part consists of evaluation and dating of layers, structures and artefacts. The evaluation is followed by summering its results in context of development of Stará Boleslav. The theoretical part deals with comparison of architectonic structures revealed on other fortified centers in Bohemia, their constructions and the conditions and possibilities of their preservation. It also summarizes preserved structures with focus on log houses.
