Příbram and its Surrounding Areas as a Goal for Geological Hikes

The title of my graduation thesis is Příbram as a destination of geologie walks. Altogether, it surveys five geologically interesting areas. It's main contribution is that it can be used as a material of which work projects for students can be made. The purpose of these work projects is to activate the students who take geologic excursions. Further, my thesis contains a manual for teachers. This manual is concerned with specific areas and it consits of both teoretical and practical information. Influence of Uranium Mining on the Environment of the Ždár nad Sázavou Region

Thema in aim of this bachelor thesis is mining of uranium ore and its impal on the environment of the Dolní Rožínka area. The first part is focused on a knowledge summary of mineralogical and geological overview, which limits are examined area and characterises uranium bearings in Rožná. It is dealt also with the history of uranium mining and oves a brief technological activities in processing of the raw uranium under responsible company of DIAMO, represented by the GEAM Dolní Rožínka. Furthermore some specific aspects of activities are described in a relation to rehabilitation and recultivational measures in afected area of Dolní Rožínka. Second part is dealt to individual aspects of negativ impal on environment and the risk some radionuclids escaping into surounded nature, especially a local waters, the air and the soil and ganges within suroundings with secondary formativ of ecosystems. This is a demonstrativ that meaning of uranium has an impal on helth miners and employees of chemical department as well as locals. The last part of thesis presents the possibilities of implementation of the studied topic in Primary School education. Sedimentologic and microfacies study of the Suchomasty Limestone at Zlatý kůň Hill near Koněprusy (Lower Devonian - Dalejan)

This master thesis comprises results of sedimentologic, microfacies and physical stratigraphic research of the Suchomasty Limestone at Zlatý kůň Hill near Koněprusy (Prague Basin, Lower Devonian - Dalejan). Six instructive sections have been selected for detailed study. Physical stratigraphic records (MS and GRS) have been used for correlation of two lithologically different sections (Section I - to the East of the Herget Quarry and Section IV - near the entrance to the Koněprusy Caves). This comparison showed that both sections correspond to the same stratigraphic level, and thus can be included in one sedimentary system. This assumption is also supported by preliminary results of studies on stratigraphic distribution of conodonts. Stratigraphic variations in MS and GRS may also be used for reconstructions of sedimentary environment and its evolution (e.g., changes in sea level). However, all measured parameters show only low oscillations and reflect probably only local conditions. Five microfacies types corresponding to three facies belts have been identified in the studied sections.
