The impact of nature on human health and development

Title: The Impact of Nature on Human Health and Development Objectives: The main aim of this bachelor thesis was to do a detail research of foreign scientific articles concerning effects of nature on human health and development of individual. Methods: To do the desk research of academic literature, the databases of foreign scientific articles such as PubMed, Medline, Scopus have been used. Results: There are studies which focus on influence of environment on people and examine this influence on three levels: physiological, psychological and cognitive. Results show a potential effect of natural environment on people on all researched levels. Studies describe this effect of environment as restorative and is commonly explained by two major theories: 1) Attention Restoration Theory explains this restorative effect by regeneration of directed attention capacity. 2) Stress Recovery Theory explains the restorative effect like a positive influence on emotional state of an individual. This has a positive consequence in lowering stress levels of the individual and it also induces desired physiological processes which lead to relaxation, regeneration and release. Use of outdoor activities in extracuricular education in Sedlčany region

Title: Application of Outdoor Activities Program in After-school Childcare Programs in the Region of Sedlcansko Goals: The goal of this thesis is to apply a program of games in nature and verify its popularity in the afterschool programs environment. Methods: The research sample consisted of 121 children and 13 teachers, who participated in the designed program. The program was applied in nine afterschool programs of the Sedlcansko region. We designed questionnaires that were used to determine attractivity and usability of the program. The questionnaires were filled in by the children and the teachers separately. The data obtained from the questionnaires was processed using contingency tables and frequencies. The results were displayed using graphs. Results: We created two versions of a 1.5 hour-long program: for natural and gym environments. Games introduced in the natural environment received an average rating of 1.38 compared to the rating of 1.23 for the gym environment measured on a scale 1 -5, with one being the. The average difficulty rating of all games given by the teachers is 1.78, which is close to level 2 -moerate difficulty. 33.03 % students chose as a best game a game that included the ropes course. Evaluation of pupils' interest in adventure activities during school physical education lessons

Title: Evaluation of pupils' interest in adventure activities during school physical education lessons Objectives: The aim of the master thesis is to evaluate the interest in adventurous activities of pupils aged 11 to 15 at the Elementary school Bronzová in Prague, based on a set up adventurous program. Methods: The research sample consisted of 145 pupils, aged 11 to 15, 78 girls and 67 boys. Data were gathered by a questionnaire, which included closed, semi-closed and open questions addressed to pupils. Further data were collected by teachers' observation. Gathered data were recorded in writing, graphically processed and evaluated. Results: Results showed that pupils were actively involved in the adventurous programme and were interested in adventurous activities within the physical education lessons. They have experienced the greatest adventure on the obstacles and during trust activities. Pupils do not seek adventurous activities during their free time. The aim of the work is to verify how and whether movement games for these children are important at all, how they spend their free time and how their family situation reflects on spending their free time. Title: Customers' satisfaction assessment of tourist tours - a case study of CK Alpina tours to Bulgaria Aim: Through questioning and direct observation to evaluate customer satisfaction at selected CK Alpina tours to Bulgaria and propose changes in the final questionnaire. Methods: For obtaining necessary data we used questioning and observation. The questioning used the existing questionnaire CK Alpina containing 7 questions. Customers rated satisfaction with Likert's scale, but they could use an open answer. The Likert's scale was evaluated quantitatively by assigning the stamps by answers. For word responses was made categorization. There were direct, hidden observations of my person on two tours. Observed phenomena were selected based on operationalization and external stimulus. Results: Satisfaction of clients with both, the tour program and tour guides, was found at all five tours to Bulgaria. The biggest drawbacks occurred with the bus service CK Alpina ordered from the carriers. We have developed a new questionnaire, which is more focused on the characteristics, abilities and skills of the guide. Title: Paraglider's lifestyle Objectives: The main aim of this thesis is to find out the impact of paragliding on human lifestyle and to explore the temperament characteristic of paragliders. Methods: The data was collected using a semi-structured interview with five respondents and through standardized EPI questionnaires. The respondents are men between the age of 26 and 37. The interviews were recorded on the recording device and then transcribed into a Microsoft Word document using the Listen N Write application. The questionnaires were evaluated and processed in Microsoft Excel. The impact of paragliding on lifestyle was evaluated through the use of qualitative research processes such as interviews and questionnaires. Comparative methods were used to compare the obtained results with other case studies dealing with lifestyle, motivation, flying and similar sports. Results: The results of the thesis show that the impact of paragliding on lifestyle is significant. The paragliders describe the paragliding group as very different from the ordinary population. They are people who seek excitement, the feeling self-control, and especially want to define themselves. They focus more on the quality of their lives than on material goals. Title: Skateboarding - sport or lifestyle Objectives: The aim of the thesis is to examine connections, relationships and results, why are skateboarders prefering this activity and to describe them objectively within the majority culture to understand their thoughts. We will try to describe, what are the main differences between them and the rest of the society and how it is important to their own identity. Methods: We gained needed quantity of information from 6 skateboarders, with the aid of qualitative method - semi-structured interview. The data picking was taking place from April to July 2015. From the gained information we analysed behaviour patterns, motives, motivation and thought of the skateboarders. Results: Skateboarders never think about definitions, have no interest in somehow categorizing skateboarding. Some skateboarders immediately identify with the fact that skateboarding is their lifestyle, some of them gradually realize that skateboarding lifestyle can be for their way of life considered, others argue that they would skateboarding lifestyle imagine more intensive than how they do it. Also, it was used own experiences of the thesis author. Title: The Reflection of Tourism and Outdoor Sports Courses Objectives: The main goal of this work is to evaluate the Course Tourism and Outdoor Sports at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University in Prague from the view of its participants. Methods: The research method used in this paper is a quantitative method - questioning with the elements of quantitative research for the finding of concrete opinions and attitudes of course participants. There was a questionnaire created based on the questionnaires used by an Outward Bound organisation to evaluate its courses. Results: The outcome of the work is an evaluation of the course Tourism and Sports in the Nature at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University in Prague by its participants. The hypothesis that the course has a strong positive impact on its participants was confirmed. The work of the teachers and other aspects of the course that can be modified to maintain the high standards of the course were evaluated as well. Forest schools in Liberec region

Title: The importance of nature as a learning environment by mapping forest clubs and forest kindergartens in the Liberec region from from the point of view of educators. Objective: The aim of my thesis is to map forest kindergartens and forest clubs in the Liberec region. Further, by using semi-structured interviews to obtain specific information about the operation and educational activities of the forest kindergartens and clubs in the district. Results: Literature about pre-school pedagogy, alternative ways of education, forest kindergartens gave us insights into the topic. From semi-structured interviews that I conducted with various teachers of forest kindergartens or clubs in the Liberec region, I received necessary information. The functioning of forest kindergartens and forest clubs is different in many ways. Opening hours of kindergartens are about 7:00 to 17:00. Their approach to children is inspired by Waldorf and Montessori pedagogy. The timetable of the day differs, but the materials they use are similar and come from nature. All respondents mentioned that parents cooperate with them. It was evident that all of them have good relationship to nature and see its positive influence on children.
