Benefits of retina laser photocoagulation using PASCAL system
Němčanský, Jan ; Studnička, Jan (advisor) ; Kolář, Petr (referee) ; Řehák, Jiří (referee)
- Benefits of retina laser photocoagulation using PASCAL system Objective. To evaluate functional, anatomical and clinical efficacy, and safety of the pattern scanning laser (PASCAL®) photocoagulation in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR) and/or diabetic macular edema (DME). Methods. From 2008 to 2013, 235 eyes of 151 patients were treated with pattern laser photo- coagulation at the Ophthalmology Department at University Hospital Ostrava. Patients were analyzed in the subgroups A, B and C according to presence of DR and/or DME indicated to panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) and grid or focal macular laser treatment. In the group A, one eye of the same patient was treated with pattern photocoagulation (20 ms/impulse) and the fellow eye with conventional settings. In groups B and C all eyes were treated with pattern photocoagulation. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central retinal thickness (CRT), fun- dus photography, biomicroscopy, complications, pain response and duration of the treatment were evaluated during the minimum 12months follow-up period. Statistical analysis using parametrical and nonparametrical tests with p less than 0,05 was done. Results. Pattern laser PRP lead to BCVA stabilization in patients with very severe nonprolife- rative DR (NPDR) and proliferative DR (PDR). DME...

Surgical treatement of idiopathic macular hole using different types of tamponades and different postoperative positioning regimen Summary Aim: To compare the effect of different types of intraocular tamponade and different types of postoperative positioning on the closure of an idiopathic macular hole (IMH). Design: Prospective randomized clinical trial. Methods: In this work we evaluate the surgical results of 104 eyes of 100 patients (76 women, 24 men) who were operated for IMH. The mean age of the patients was 70,8 years (57 - 87). The mean initial best corrected visaul acuity (BCVA) was 0,15 (0,05 - 0,50). The mean extend of the macular hole at the narrowest point was 408,5 µm (133 - 741). All patients were operated using a 25-gauge pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling under retrobulbar anesthesia. Patients were randomized into the following four groups: SF6 + reading position (n = 26), air + reading position (n = 25), air + prone position (n = 26) or SF6 + prone position (n = 27). Results: The follow-up period is 6 months. Closure rate of all IMD was 83,7 % (In the 1st group 100 %, in the 2nd 56 %, in the 3rd 84,6 % and in the 4th group 92,6 %). The air tamponade + reading position group was statistically significantly less successful compared to the other three...
Social Media as a Marketing Tool
Studnička, Jan ; Böhmová, Lucie (advisor) ; Čermák, Radim (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse marketing tools of Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and to suggest a recommended plan for small companies that wish to start using social media as a marketing tool. The aim is achieved with knowledge gained from a theoretical part of this thesis, which explains marketing, its forms on the internet and social networks. Further, an analysis of marketing tools of social media, particularly of Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, has been used to accomplish a goal of this thesis, as well as a practical application of these networks for a Summer camp Gandalf, and an interview with an expert in this field, all of which are present in the practical application part of this thesis. Based on above mentioned analysis, a company Facebook page has been evaluated as the basic element for success on Facebook, because it offers enough possibilities for communication with a customer and good-quality analytics and marketing tools. An Instagram profile is a very good place for visual presentation of company with photos thanks to the simplicity, good arrangement and a growing number of users, its link to Facebook proved to be very useful as well. YouTube is then an ideal setting for sharing videos of company due to its popularity and cooperation with Google that can find YouTube videos directly in its search engine. A particular suggestion for small companies differs based on its type and result that the company expects from its use of social media. A very important aspect, however, is to create a good relationship with a customer by sharing and publishing a quality content. A contribution of this thesis is its critical evaluation of marketing tools on social networks Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and their utility for small companies. The Summer camp Gandalf was chosen as an example of applicability of these tools. In this thesis a suggested plan has also been laid out for small companies which are beginning on the field of social media.
