Young volunteer's perception of volunteering and their experiences with peer reactions to volunteering Bc. Barbora Stolínová Abstract Peer influence is usually studied in the field of negative behavior. This thesis handles the topic of influence of peers and their reaction to prosocial behavior and volunteering as one of its manifestations. In the first part of thesis a search of research from foreign countries was performed. Focus groups and semi-structured interviews were conducted in the second empirical part of this research. The aim was to find out how volunteers perceive their volunteering within their social environment, which reaction of their peers they experience and how they deal with them. Target group for this research were young volunteers in the age from 15 to 25 from environmental non-profit organizations. Findings from the empirical analysis of the focus group and interviews can be used for work with volunteers in organizations, so there are recommendations for volunteer coordinators in the final part of the thesis. Eurolect in Czech translations originating in EU Institutions

This thesis presents a definition of eurolect and a corpus-based analysis of Czech eurolect. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses mainly on the distinction between existing concepts of the specific language of translations originating in EU institutions and on the definition of its main characteristics. As the process of translation in EU institutions is unprecedented, this thesis provides its detailed description. The analysis of Czech eurolect and its main features was conducted on several sub-corpora comprising of EU translations and reference corpora comprising of Czech journalistic texts from before and after 2004.

This bachelor thesis contains a translation of Calvin Thomas's article "Last Laughs: Batman, Masculinity and Technology of Abjection", which was published in a gender- oriented magazine Men and Masculinities. The second part of this thesis is a commentary on the translation. The commentary includes a translation analysis; it focuses according to relevance on extratextual and intratextual factors and on various translation problems that occurred in the process. The commentary describes strategies for dealing with the problems as well as the typology of translation shifts that occurs in the target text.
