Hry Václava Havla v zemích balkánského regionu
Xhelo, Katerina ; Stehlíková, Eva (advisor) ; Chrobák, Tomáš (referee) ; Drozd, David (referee)
The Doctoral Dissertation focuses on productions of Václav Havel's plays in some of the Balkan countries, namely Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Macedonia before 1989 and from 1989 until today; it also focuses on the roots of popularity of Havel's plays in those countries. By analyzing theatre situation in the above-mentioned countries, analyzing performances and translations of the plays I have found that the performances of Havel's plays brought new ideas and forms of expression into the theatre and they especially offered to actors new ways to explore their own forms of acting. I have found different reviews, materials, and literatures which show that Havel's plays led to a lot of polemics. I have made use of all possible sources for my work (libraries, archives, written materials, interviews with directors, film documents, video documents etc). Based on these sources I have found that the performances of Havel's plays in some of the countries were staged in form of a political theatre, and in pursuit of a certain political message. Searching through the materials we understand that directors went to the deeper meaning of Havel's plays and in most cases the plays were staged with an intention and desire to influence the society. In the dissertation I have proved shown that a new stage language was...
Use of the diary of nursing care for patients in the terminal stage of the disease
STEHLÍKOVÁ, Eva
The bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of using the diary of nursing care for patients in the terminal stage of the disease. This theoretical bachelor thesis is based on research of sources taken from Czech and foreign literature, including database sources. The work focuses on general palliative care and the terminal stage and is divided into several sections. The needs of a dying person are described in detail here, both biological, psychosocial, and spiritual. The work also focuses on the dying stages, according to Kübler-Ross, which are described here in detail. The central chapter focuses on palliative communication, which is of special importance. Medical staff, including nurses, are not trained in how to talk to the family of a dying or deceased person. The following sub-chapters are devoted to the central topic of using a nursing diary for terminally ill patients abroad. The creation of a nursing diary in various countries of the world is described here in detail, as well as its acceptance in practice. It also includes a description of the diary, how it looks in certain healthcare facilities, and its possibilities. The effect of using a diary in practice on the quality of care provided is also discussed. The data show that the diary was very beneficial, especially to the families of the patients who kept the nursing diary. The diary helped families to better come to terms with the death of a loved one during the grieving process. The author's view on the issue is described at the end of the work. In response to the data, a proposal for a nursing diary in the Czech version was created to contribute to the development of palliative nursing care within the Czech Republic.

Alfréd Radok's dramatization and staging of Heinrich Böll's "The Clown" in the context of Radok's productions in German speaking countries
Slavíčková, Eva ; Stehlíková, Eva (advisor) ; Just, Vladimír (referee)
The intention of the author of this diploma thesis is to acquaint its readers with the theatre productions in German speaking countries by the foremost Czech theatre director Alfred Radok (1914- 1976). They date back to the period of the 1960s and 1970s. So far only minimum attention has been paid to them in the Czech environment. The productions include: A. P. Čechov - A. a. M. Radoks: The Swedish Match in the Theater in der Josefstadt (Vienna, 1965); M. Gorkij: The Last Ones in the Müncher Kammerspiele (Munich, 1965); F. G. Lorca: The House of Bernarda Alba in the Schiller Theater, Schlosspark Theater (West Berlin, 1966) and H. Böll - A. a. M. Radoks: The Clown in the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf (Düsseldorf, 1970). All the above productions, with the exception of The Clown, were staged by Radok in the Czech (Prague) and in the German speaking environment. In the centre of the present thesis is Radok's dramatisation and Düsseldorf production of The Clown. In addition to the partial reconstruction of The Clown, in which Radok again used his typical combination of film projection and live performance (he used the same procedure in The Last Ones on the stage in Munich); this thesis gives a brief comparison of The Clown, as dramatised by the Radoks, and the original novel by Heinrich Böll, and also other theatre...

Dionisis Fotopoulos
Ihyane, Marcela ; Stehlíková, Eva (advisor) ; Christov, Petr (referee)
This master thesis deals with theatre work of Dionisis Fotopoulos, the most popular, worldwide famous, and award-winning Greek scene designer. The thesis is probably the first malysis ofFotopoulos' scene design while, so far, there is no other research essay written on :his topic either in Greece, or in some other country. I try to show Fotopoulos' creative periods and style s on his work on ancient Greek lrama. Dionisis Fotopoulos is considered to be one of the few Greek scene designers who )rought strong Greek tradition of staging ancient tragedies and comedies abroad. Ris masks md costumes draw on the tradition which tinctures the Greek theatre, as well as they are :onsidered to be experimental and visually very effective. The other reason why we focus on mcient Greek drama is that it is also believed to be a part of European, not only Greek ;ultural heritage. The first chapters contain basic information about history of a modem Greek theatre in ~Oth century, about a history of staging ancient Greek drama in modem Greece and few notes _bout living Greek theatre tradition which try to explain its basic phenomenon to Czech eaders. The following chapters contain short Fotopoulos' biography and analysis ofhis theatre vork. I have chosen the important performances of each style and period and I tried to...
The theatre Romathan (along the paths of Romany theatre: from Indian origins to the theatre Romathan)
Kočí, Julie ; Stehlíková, Eva (advisor) ; Christov, Petr (referee)
My thesis presents a concise outline of the development of Romany dramatic and theatre culture from its Indian origins to the Slovak oiginated Theatre Romathan, which represents the actual artistic and intellectual development peak. Further on, the work deals with the crucial developmental tendencies of the artistic production within the Theatre Romathan. It also highlights the importance of the Theatre Romathan in the European context. ln the first part of my thesis I briefly point out the development of Romany theatre, drama, and theatricality in genera\. My main argument is that Romany theatricality stems from three different sources. Firstly, the roots of Romany theatricality are to be found in Doms musicians' performances in ancient India. Secondly, one has to look for the roots in the competition of Romany performers with the non-Romany artistic production of medieval mimes, histriones, ioculatores and musicians. And finally, the source of the theatricality lies in the Romany folk culture, which is manifested in songs, stories, musical and musical-dramatic performances, ceremonies, and rituals. ln the second part of my work I analyse the beginnings and the development of Romany theatre wthin the territory of former Czechoslovakia. I argue that the very beginning of Romany theatre is connected with the...
Reception of Theatre in Late Antiquity: Apologies, Philippics, Scholarly Treatises
Sarkissian, Alena ; Stehlíková, Eva (advisor) ; Vedral, Jan (referee) ; Kulhánková, Markéta (referee)
This thesis has examined several texts that were created in period from 2nd century AD - 12th century AD, i.e. late ancient texts or the texts that drew inspiration from classical tradition. Although the period might seem too wide, it enabled study of continuity and change in the reception of theatre in ancient monographs on this topics. Several questions were asked here. The texts seemed not to have much in common generally. This thesis seeks to find out whether there are any affinities, what their real informative value is in respect to their generic affiliation, what influences affected these treatises and whether and how they influenced each other. The first two chapters determine the issue of this thesis and the current state of research. The third chapter establishes terminology, since the scholarly works on theatre of Late Antiquity and Byzantium have very often defined the term theatre too vaguely, which made it hard to obtain any reasonable output of research. In the fourth chapter the texts to be examined were shortly introduced in chronological order and basic information on their literary qualities was provided to the reader. The analysis of the texts starts in the fifth chapter that discusses generic questions of drama and theatre in Late Antiquity. Tragedy is studied and compared in relation...
Alfréd Radok's adaptations for the "laterna magika" principle
Šmídtová, Lenka ; Stehlíková, Eva (advisor) ; Pavlovský, Petr (referee)
Czech theater director Alfred Radok (1914-1976) was always temped by confronting several layers of meaning in one single work of art. On theater he used different scenic spaces at once - in e.g. his production of Offenbach's opera Hoffman's Tales (Velka opera 5. kvetna IThe Great May 5th Opera/, 1946) he combined two spaces which symbolized the two worlds of Hoffman's fantasy. The true character of these worlds was not only formed by the stage design but also by acting. When transiting from one space to the other the actors changed their gestures, their body language, the way they walked, etc. A similar principle was applied in Verdi's Rigoletto (Velka opera 5. kvetna IThe Great May 5th Operal, 1947). In this production the singers were moving inbetween two different worlds - one being represented by a ceremonial opening night of this performance in Teatro La Fenice, while the second by the theater backstage which unveiled the reverse side of fame (scene-shifters were preparing the change of the upcoming scene, one singer was flirting around with the dancers, prop-woman was knitting etc.). This specific technique of totally diverse realities medley became the basis for Radok's film debut Daleka cesta IFar Away Journey/ (1949). A portrayal of a life story of a mixed marriage during the Second World War is...
European medieval women writers
Bednaříková, Eliška ; Stehlíková, Eva (advisor) ; Doležalová, Lucie (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with writings of women writers of European Early and Central Middle Ages, particularly with four women writers, who flourished from the half of the 9th century to the beginning of the 13th century in western Europe. In the Middle Ages there were much more male than female writers, but unique personalities, influencing the world of literature, could be found even among the women writers. Ladies presented in this thesis exemplify with their writings general literary development of the Middle Ages, but, simultaneously, they are always at the beginning of something new. These women writers are Dhuoda, infelicitous wife of nobleman, canoness Hrotsvit of Gandersheim, abbess Hildegard of Bingen, and finally conscious author from the royal court, Marie de France. Dhuoda created in the middle of the 9th century with her writing Liber manualis unique didactic-educational work, the oldest "in France" written piece about education.377 Hrotsvit wrote, as her fellows did, legends and historical epics, but, moreover, she created first performable plays of the Christian world.378 Hildegard of Bingen represensts with her writings the breaking period of the 12th century, but her work is really vast and in its range unique. The last one, Marie de France, is the representative of the courtoise...
