Batelka, Michal ; Stehlík, Michal (referee) ; Kolář,, Karel (referee) ; Cigánek,, Jindřich (referee) ; Adámek, Jiří (advisor)
This work deals with issues aimed at the possibility of treating the material which has not been used yet – coal tailings. The work includes among others the production, its optimalization and utilization of a new type of lightweight artificial aggregate in the process of production of concrete. The possibility of manufactured the artificial aggregate is dealt with the principle of self-burning of the raw material's batch at the agglomerative grate. The optimalization of the burning process was performed both with the homogenous and the layered batch. Further part of the work focuses on the fabrication of diverse types of concrete and determination of their parametres. This section is significantly extended with the comparison of basic physical and specific properities of the new type of concrete with those of the commonly produced types. The last part of presented work deals with the ecological - economic situation of these issues. The proposed solution points to the possibility of utilization of the coal tailings which are put to the tailings heaps. It was managed to optimize the burning process and to find the most convenient system for storing the raw material's batch at the agglomerative grate. Next, it was proved that the types of concrete produced with a new sort of aggregate are also suitable for fabricating the construction concrete with the strength above the border of 50 MPa, which are applicable even in harder conditions. These sorts of concrete also have a lower volume weight and very good bending properties. The major finding, which underlines the contribution of this work, is that the up to now unused material is suitable for fabrication of relatively high-quality and thermally stable aggregate of strength on the border of 5 MPa, which can be use for fabricating concrete with very good results even in this field. Another great contribution of this work can surely be the fact, that a preliminary economic balance of the manufacturing pr
Change in the durability of concrete made of recycled concrete by alternative addition of ceramic admixtures
Stavař, Tomáš ; Hoffmann, Oldřich (referee) ; Stehlík, Michal (advisor)
The master thesis dealing with problematic about durability of concrete, with use of recycled concrete and addition of silica additions. Predominant for resistance of concrete constructions is surface layer, through which aggressive gasses and liquids penetrate from surrounding environment. The most important indicator of concrete durability is ability of surface layer transmissions of aggressive substants. In experimental part will be defined the actual state of surface layer by normal testing methods. The transmissions of surface layer will be tested on concrete cubes. Tests for transmissions of air (method TORRENT), of water (method ISAT), of acid gases (dept of carbonation by quick test in 98% CO2) will be carried out and also strength tests. Assessment of positive or negative influence of additions and amount of cement on durability and mechanical properties of concrete will be discussed in conclusion.

The beginnings of the male branch of Opus Dei in the Czech republic
Sterzik, Josef ; Michela, Miroslav (advisor) ; Stehlík, Michal (referee)
(anglicky) The bachelor thesis is about Opus Dei, the only personal prelature in the Catholic Church. The thesis focuses mainly on the beginnings of the male branch in the Czech Republic. It is based on the analysis of historiographical works and in the last chapter the method of oral history is used. Within the framework of oral history research, the main line of narrative is that of the three founding members of the Prelature in the territory of the Czech Republic. The whole thesis is divided into three parts. The first part describes the life of the founder, the related history of the organisation and its structure based on secondary literature of Czech, German and English provenance. The main source is mainly the three-volume biography of Josemaría Escríva by the Spanish historian Vazquez de Prado. It also describes the legal development and organizational structure of Opus Dei. In the second part of the thesis, the historical context is explained, specifically the situation of the Catholic Church between 1945 and 1989. The somewhat specific background of the situation of the Church in Czechoslovakia before the arrival of Opus Dei is outlined. The third part shows the changes that took place after 1989, when the Velvet Revolution made possible, among other things, the arrival of Opus Dei in...
"All honor, chairman Holman...": Strategies for the preservation of cultural monument in Czechoslovakia by the example of the reconstruction of the Staré Hrady castle near Libáň.
Limberský, Jan ; Randák, Jan (advisor) ; Stehlík, Michal (referee)
1 Abstract (in English): This thesis presented on the example of the reconstruction of the Staré Hrady castle deals with the process of preserving a cultural monument in the area of Czechoslovakia, mainly in the second half of the 20th century. It does so through a microhistorical analysis of inter-official negotiation strategies in the context of the cultural history approach, while in connection with this procedure it does not neglect to take into account the political, legal or architectural aspects of the problem. As part of this procedure, it examines not only the aforementioned negotiation strategies, but also the interests and effectiveness of the relevant institutions in their cooperation on a joint project.
Visions and Building of the Socialist Cities during the Stalin Era (Prague 1948-1956)
Kurz, Michal ; Stehlík, Michal (advisor) ; Biegel, Richard (referee) ; Gjuričová, Adéla (referee)
The dissertation thesis focuses on the contemporary concept of the socialist city in the context of Czechoslovak Stalinism. Using Prague as an example, it examines how this concept was defined in the historical city environment. The aim of the thesis is to reconstruct the process of socialist modernization of Prague in the 1950s, to identify the basic features of the socialist city, to analyze its ideological foundations and to contribute to the discussion on the nature of Czechoslovak Stalinism. The thesis is divided into five main thematic sections. The first conceptualizes the notions of utopia, Stalinism and space. On their basis, it interprets the socialist city as a distinctive vision of modernization. The second section reconstructs the political and symbolic significance of the transformation of space (landscape, cities) within Stalinist modernity. Based on contemporary texts and urban plans, the third section analyses the planning and construction of Prague in the 1950s. It defines the chronology of events, the typology of the implemented projects and the main actor groups that participated in this transformation (politicians, architects, preservationists, journalists, citizens). The fourth part of the thesis explains the roots of the concept of the socialist city in the professional and...
The Role of New Media in Museum Presentation
Wančová, Nina ; Stehlík, Michal (advisor) ; Frank, Jiří (referee) ; Grulich, Petr (referee)
Museums are traditional and collection based cultural institutions. From the very beginning of the 20th century the established approaches in museums have been continuously challenged by social and technological changes. New topics including modernization are newly in the centre of interest. The dissertation examines use of technologies and new media ideas as the starting point of complex museum modernization while keeping the use appropriate and meaningful for museum content. There are three main areas where new media are used in museums: 1. museum presentation, 2. visitor engagement, 3. online communication and PR. The main method used to examine the current state of using new media in Czech museums was quantitative research with surveys. With regard to the dynamic development in the area of the research surveys were conducted longitudinally in 2015 and in 2020. This approach helped to capture more complex reality, including changes and trends in time. Respondents are museum employees from 358 institutions. The use of new media for museum displays increased significantly, while less than a half of the museums launched an online exhibition project. Almost all museums are offering accompanying programs and more than 80 % also offer game activities. The amount of museums which are not online at all...
Forbidden Faith: The so-called Religious Sects and Communist Dictatorship
Pácha, Martin ; Stehlík, Michal (advisor) ; Gjuričová, Adéla (referee) ; Šebek, Jaroslav (referee)
The state-socialist system built after 1948 in Czechoslovakia was characterized by an effort to purposefully secularize society and replace religiosity with an ideological system based on the values of Marxism-Leninism. The repressive measures gradually affected all religious organizations, but not all of them equally. A specific category was constituted by religious groups, which the communist discourse defined as "sects." These were repeatedly placed in existential danger because they were outside the contemporary notion of "normal" religion. The dissertation uses the example of two such communities (the Pentecostal Movement, the Jehovah's Witnesses Religious Society) to analyse the interactions of religious actors with state representatives. The thesis demonstrates that the state's atheization strategies did not produce an atheistic society and, using the concept of the religious field, created a disjunctive space at the intersection of religion-culture-politics in which various believers were forced to modify their spiritual practices, but certainly did not become dominated passive bystanders. Similarly, the state administration did not remain static, and its activities gradually diversified according to the specificities of a given religious group. The thesis concludes that the state did not...
