Schumannová, Klára ; Poláková, Dora (advisor) ; Núňez Tayupanta, Lucie (referee)
(in English): This Bachelor's Thesis examines the novels that have the figure of a dictator as their theme, which is typical for Hispano American literature. It focuses on the character of a dictator in the two novels of Hispano American literature: the dictator Rafael Trujillo in "The Feast of Goat", written by Mario Vargas Llosa and the character of Manuel Estrada Cabrera in "El Señor Presidente", written by Miguel Ángel Asturias. In the theoretical part, the thesis is concerned with the term "dictatorship" and with anti-democratic regimes as such. Furthermore, the circumstances of Latin America regarding the dictatorship are described; and, above all, the thesis examines the tradition of the novels with the figure of a dictator as their theme, their discovery and typology. The following part is more practical and concentrates on the actual novels, in which it examines, apart from the circumstances surrounding the writing of the novels and the historical context, also the literary description of a dictator and of his regime, the depiction of the atmosphere and also the stylistic devices used for the authentic descriptions of the rulers. The final chapter compares the both dictators.
