Use of data mining in business processes

This bachelor thesis focuses on the sales analysis of the products of a specific brand, focusing on the selection of TOP products. The thesis aims to automate this process and make the product selection process transferable to other brands in the company's portfolio. In order to realize the set objectives, I use a TOP product selection metric created by me. The results obtained by applying my solution are compared with competitors to determine the quality of my proposed TOP product selection process. Additionally, I compare my solution with selected data mining techniques and show its suitability for this type of analysis.

Gender gap index and happiness

This bachelor thesis investigates the relationship between the level of gender inequality given by The Global Gender Gap Index (GGGI) and women's happiness. Using the cross-sectional data from The World Values Survey from 22 different countries, the main goal was to explore the possible existence of a positive relationship between the GGGI index (which reflects the rate of gender differences in particular country where lower values represent higher rate of gender inequality) and relative happiness of women in comparison with happiness of men. The work introduces not only the variables that are considered to be the main determinants of happiness according to the current studies, but also specific indexes related to the issue of gender inequality. All in all, the work is comprised of seven models working with the whole dataset of 22 countries, six models working with the data divided by gender and two different models created for each of four groups into which the countries were divided based on their rate of GGGI index. Expression on interpropsitional relationships inthe translation of art historical texts

The author of this paper focuses on the transfer of interpropositional relations in the translation process of art- historical texts from Spanish into Czech language. When analysing the real, synchronic and representative texts, she applies the descriptive-contrastive approach using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. The emphasis is placed on the genre conventions, interpreted as a determining factor of the compactness of the expression. El objetivo que la autora persigue con este trabajo es el análisis de los medios de expresión de las proposiciones, así como el estudio de los modos en que las relaciones interprosicionales toman cuerpo en ambos idiomas, el checo y el español. Para este fin, la autora aplica método tanto cualitativos como cuantitativos y trabaja con textos reales, sincrónicos y representativos con el objetivo de describir y comparar dichos fenómenos sintáctico-semánticos en ambos idiomas. Consciente de que las convenciones del género influyen sobre la sintaxis, se enfoca exclusivamente en textos pertenecientes al género que denomina bajo el término "catálogo de exposición", relacionándolo únicamente con textos de contenido histórico-artístico. Asset Prices, Network Connectedness, and Risk Premium

This diploma thesis introduces the measures of network connectedness in the context of asset pricing. It proposes an asset pricing model in which the factor of connectedness is included as one of the risk factors together with the three Fama-French factors. The goal of the analysis is to examine whether the con- nectedness represents a signifcant risk factor that should be considered while determining the risk premium of the portfolio in diferent sectors in the market. Using the realized volatilities and returns of 496 assets of SP 500 index over the period 2005 - 2018, that are divided into 11 sectors, we frstly determine the linkages of connectedness between the assets in the same sector. Applying Fama-MacBeth two-step regression model, we explore the signifcance of the connectedness factor for the determination of the risk premium. We argue that the sector overall connectedness represents a signifcant risk in most of the sec- tors and should be therefore taken into account by the investors in all sectors. Moreover, the total directional connectedness that captures the spillover of shocks to one asset from the other assets in the sector, is a signifcant risk fac- tor that should increase the risk premium of the portfolio, especially in sectors such as the fnancial, health care, consumer...
