Teaching Librarian Competencies

in English: Theoretical part of the thesis provides overview of foreign documents defining the role and competencies of teaching librarian. Then it summarizes their shared features. Afterwards, the theoretical part presents overview of documents and activities affecting the professional profilation of teaching librarian in Czech Republic. The research part of the thesis investigates a small sample of czech professionals of this specialization. It aims to analyze forms, subjects and target audience of their teaching activities. It further analyzes their skills, the ways these skills have been developed and factors affecting this developement. Research assessment provides comparison of case studies of teaching librarians in Czech republic. Comparison is complemented by structured summary of competencies of teaching librarian which includes findings from both theoretical and research part of the thesis. The typology of the technopesimism in Czech novelistic creation of the 19th and 20th centuries

in English: The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is to explain the term techno-pessimism through the perspective of various fields of study and historical periods. It also analyzes Czech fiction of the 19th and 20th century and points out pieces of work related to the topic of techno-pessimism. The thesis mostly concentrates on the negative aspects of the man and machine relationship. The research part of the work analyzes a relevant sample of fiction novels with the aim to define their most significant and frequented themes of the man and machine relationship. These themes are formed in a typology of model situations of this relationship and the thesis summarizes what had been the real reason and inspiration to the artist in each case. The final part of the work compares the typology with modern lifestyle and tries to find out if there are any correlations between the situations displayed in the literature of the 19th and 20th century and the real situations people are experiencing in our time.
