The impact of neuoropretection on brain metabolism and cognitive function during carotid endarterectomy
Mraček, Jan ; Choc, Milan (advisor) ; Chytra, Ivan (referee) ; Náhlovský, Jiří (referee)
The impact of neuroprotection on brain metabolism and cognitive function during carotid endarterectomy Introduction: Neuroprotection is a strategy that works against the biochemical and molecular manifestations that lead to ischemic brain injury. The aim of neuroprotection is to protect the hypoperfused brain region through influence upon ischemic cascade and by reducing the progress of injurious reperfusion. The development of neuroprotection has been proceeding alongside a growing understanding of brain ischemia pathophysiology. In spite of the demonstrable effects of many agents in animal models, until now none of the tested neuroprotective agents have been shown to improve the outcome in a phase III clinical trial. Objectives: Primary objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of neuroprotection, administered before carotid endarterectomy, on brain metabolism and cognitive function. The potential influence of metabolic changes within the brain on clinical outcome was assessed. The secondary objective was to assess the satisfaction of patients with the type of anesthesia administered (general or local) and to consider the preference for general or local anesthesia during similar operations in the future. Methods: A total of 35 patients underwent carotid endarterectomy with prophylactic combine...
Supervision of the training process in preparation for the Taekwon-Do ITF representation
Mraček, Jan ; Pavelka, Radim (advisor) ; Venzara, Jan (referee)
Title: Supervision of the training process in preparation for the Taekwon-Do ITF representation Abstract: The aim of this diploma paper is to analyse and evaluate the Taekwon-Do representative's motoric tests. The paper consists of two parts. The first part contains the history of Taekwon-Do, the contest's disciplines, history of Czech national team and the team's success. Then, there are prepared guidelines for the development of fitness, developmental patterns of juniors and seniors. There is also a theoretical part, where the methodology of development capabilities, testing's significance and methods of work are elaborated. The second part contains the research results of motor tests of individual representatives. The results are evaluated and graphically displayed and compared with standards UNIFITTEST (6-60). All of the motor testing took place in early 2010 in two stages at the beginning of national team training camp. The first stage of the testing was held in January in preparation period and the second stage in February in the pre-race period. By comparing the results of these tests it has been demonstrated that the senior team has the highest level of fitness. In comparison with the standards UNIFITTEST (6-60) it was detected above-average performance in all tested probands. Keywords:...
Deriving predictive pathophysiological markers from ICP analysis

Deriving predictive pathophysiological markers from ICP analysis RNDr. Arnošt Mládek, Ph.D. December 13, 2021 Abstract Intracranial pressure (ICP) is an irreplaceable neurointensive care parameter and is an area under intensive research. The great diagnostic importance of ICP is underlied by two factors: (1) the central nervous system (CNS) is placed in a rigid cranial vault and even small local expansive processes (e.g. tumors, abscesses, bleeding) may lead to intracranial hypertension; (2) a specific property of the CNS is a rather uniform response to various pathological events since many etiologically heterogeneous diffuse injuries of neural tissue lead to oedema elevating ICP. The complexity of ICP monitoring stems from the neurosurgical insertion of the pressure sensor into the intracranial space and the associated risks of bleeding, neuroinfection and brain tissue damage. Intracranial pressure is more than just a number on a bedside monitor, even though in clinical practice this simplification is rather common. Similarly to electrocardiogram (ECG) signals whose information content goes well beyond heart rate calculation, understanding of ICP dynamics can provide us with insight into the current clinical status as well as prediction of further evolution. The mainstay of the dissertation thesis are...
Osteoplastic Decompressive Craniotomy
Mork, Jan ; Mraček, Jan (advisor) ; Vachata, Petr (referee) ; Kalita, Ondřej (referee)
Osteoplasic decompressive craniotomy Background: Decompressive craniectomy (DC) is a essential medical procedure used as a treatment of the patients with a refractive intracranial hypertension. It is accompanied by a high rate of postoperative complications. Along with a cranioplasty, these procedures might burden the patients with a significant morbidity, thus lowering the potential benefits of the surgery. Osteoplastic decompressive craniectomy (ODC) is an alternative surgical method suitable for those patients, for whom a DC might be too radical. The aim of our study was to introduce the technique of this often-ignored surgical procedure, to compare the outcome of the patients with DC and ODC, to confirm the ability of ODC to effectively lower the intracranial pressure (ICP) and to attempt to define indications for this surgical procedure. The secondary aim was to investigate possibly lower morbidity of the ODC patients, lower costs of provided care and to try to define causes of the failure of the method in patients, in whom it proved to be insufficient. Patients and methods: In the study were included 33 patients, who underwent a hemispheric ODC. This group was compared with a retrospective control group consisting of patients, who underwent a hemispheric DC. The proportion of intracranial...

Current trends influencing development and implementation of sport and locomotive activities in hobby groups in the region České Budějovice
MRAČEK, Jan
The main poit of my bachelor thesis is to find out how big is the interest in after-school activities in hobby groups, that are offered at primary schools in the region of České Budějovice. To prepare a list of sport branches and activities for the traditional and well known games and sports as football, volley-ball, basketball on one hand and on the other hand a list of untraditional sports as korfbal, frisbee, badminton. I decided to make some training plans that could be used by teachers in their lessons and practised with their students afterwards. In my work I would like to compare how much do the students and their teachers know about these sports. First I asked students and teachers at small school in the coutryside, then at school in small town and at the end I compared them to the school in the centre of České Budějovice. I used list of questions to find out which equipment for these sports is available at schools. My work should also find out which games are popular at students and teacher and if they would appreciate some trainings and workshops about traditional and nontraditional games at their school and if those trainings could be a benefit for the lessons of physical training.\\
