Davídek, Pavel ; Kobesová, Alena (advisor) ; Kolář, Pavel (referee) ; Matoulek, Martin (referee)
INTRODUCTION: The aim of this thesis is to identify the effect of trunk stabilization training based on Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) on maximum kayak ergometer power output and reported self-disability in the shoulder girdle area. METHOD: Thirty flatwater kayakers of both genders (17 - 25 years old) were randomly divided into two groups. Crossover design was used for this study. Subjects in the experimental group (group A) integrated DNS exercises into standard flatwater training during the first phase. The control group (group B) conducted only common flat water training at the same time. After 6 weeks, the groups were switched. Then group B underwent the same DNS exercise with the same intensity and the same time. The intervention was the same for both phases and took 6 weeks. Group A performed only standard off-season training during the second phase. The maximum power output on kayak ergometer was measured three times (before study, after 6 weeks and after 12 weeks). Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) were analyzed at the same time. RESULTS: Initially, no significant differences in maximum power output on kayak ergometer and the DASH questionnaire score were identified between the groups. During the first phase the experimental group (group A) improved the maximum...
Smoked meats in human nutrition
Hansová, Lucie ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Hromádka, Róbert (referee)
Smoked or processed meat is an important part of dietary pattern of czech citizens. Particulary nowadays, its consumation is rather controversial, mainly because of excessive consumation health impacts. Meat in general play an irreplaceable role in our diet. Its a unique source of whole proteins and some mineral substances such as iron. One of the most discussed negatives is, that excessive consumationnof processed meat is linked to development of certain diseases such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, certain types of cancer and type 2 diabetes. We have researched aspects of consumation of certain types of processed meat products specifically portion ratio, mean portion size and consumation afinity according to gender, age and BMI. Following results were found: Largest portions of smoked meats is consumated during lunch with an exception of "vídeňské párky". Men consume more smoked meats than women. Highest affinity was observed in age group till 25 years. In case of BMI - results varied according to the type of smoked meat. In case of prevention is necessary to examine the issue comprehensively and focus not just on eating habits but also on the whole patient's lifestyle.

Introduction: The main goal of the diabetes mellitus type 1 (DM type 1) therapy is the achievement of the best compensation of this disease. One of the tools to attain this compensation is the correctly carried out self-monitoring, from which can be the right dose of the Insulin derived. To estimate the correct dose of the Insulin is the essential knowledge of the actual dietary records, especially the amount of the carbohydrates. The thorough dietary record is in this case another tool how to significantly improve the compensation of DM type 1. Objective: The main objective of this thesis was the description of the influence of the dietary record for the compensation of DM type 1. As the evaluating parameters were set the value of HbA1c before-and-after the observation and the glycemia variability during the observation. The observation had been provided during one month where in the beginning of the observation all patients took part in the educative stay. Methods: The examined sample included in total 34 persons, but 2 of them were excluded for health reasons. The final examined sample was consist of 32 persons, out of them 18 females and 14 males, which suffer from DM type 1. This bachelor thesis is aimed to find out nutrition indicators of performance triathletes and to compare them with non-sportsmen. The next aim is to point out the importace of proper balanced diet in endurance sport and to evaluate the usage of food supplements. This thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical part and a practical one. Main individual nutrients are described in the theoretical part in connection with energy metabolism and with emphasis on influence of nutrition in triathlon. The practical part summarizes results obtained from an analysis of a four-day nutritional intake of 8 performance triathletes and 8 non-sportsmen. A range of the respondents' age was between 26 and 37 years. The results point out that both groups have higher energy intake than recommended rate. Both groups' intakes of proteins and fats of animal origin are approximately twice higher than recommended as well as their results of micronutrient intake are not balanced. Furthermore, a brief questionnaire shows that 50 % of respondents were not satisfied how they can gain information about nutrition, at the same time 54 % use the internet as a main source of information and only 13 % read a scientific literature. Key words: triathlon, sports nutrition, endurance performance, food supplements, drinking regime
Pharmacotherapy of metabolic syndrome and nutrition
Nesvadbová, Eliška ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Bartošová, Olga (referee)
Introduction: Metabolic syndrome is considered a proatherogenic, proinflammatory and prothrombogenic condition, high-risk especially in terms of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. Presence of metabolic syndrome is connected with plenty of other disorders. The prevalence in adult European population is 20-30 % and it's expected to rise in the future. In metabolic syndrome treatment and prevention non-pharmacological therapy including regular physical activity, keeping of optimal weight and rational diet has essential importance. Principle of pharmacotherapy is a choice of optimal antidiabetics, hypolipidemics, antihypertensives and eventually anti-obesity drugs. For long-term compensation of metabolic syndrome, pharmacotherapy of associated diseases is also essential. Some medicaments can have negative effects on glycemia, blood lipids, body weight or blood pressure, so the choice of medication isn't always easy. Objectives: The main objective of this thesis includes the description of pharmacotherapy of metabolic syndrome and associated diseases in questioned patients. The research is focused on medicaments and combinations of medicaments with positive effect on metabolic syndrome components, and also on substances potentially inappropriate for patients with metabolic syndrome. The secondary...
