The link between happiness and health- ESS data analysis
Vansáčová, Ivana ; Lustigová, Michala (advisor) ; Hnilicová, Helena (referee)
Happiness is a hard-to-define abstract concept, under which each person can imagine something different. However, we can agree that happiness is a state of being in which we feel good. This thesis explores the links between happiness and health and other variables that may influence this feeling using individual ESS study data. The aim of the thesis was to find out which of the populations of the studied countries are the happiest and which socioeconomic, demographic and health characteristics are related to feelings of happiness. The population of Denmark was found to be among the happiest of the studied sample. The respondent's highly rated subjective health, the absence of depression and a life alongside a partner are some of the most significant factors related to the feeling of happiness. On the other hand, the respondent's country of origin and their level of education does not have a large effect on those feelings. Key words: happiness, health, population of Europe, ESS study

Fruit and vegetable intake and self-rated health in the Czech republic: the HAPIEE study
Hrežová, Eliška ; Pikhart, Hynek (advisor) ; Lustigová, Michala (referee)
This thesis deals with self-rated health and consumption of fruits and vegetables in the Czech part of the HAPIEE study. The recommended amount of 400 g of fruit and vegetable consumption was met at 49,2% of men and 70,1% of women participating in the study. In the case of a higher 600 g recommendation it was 23,3% men and 42,6% women. The relationship between self-rated health and fruit and vegetable consumption was analyzed using the logistic regression method. Health was better assessed by those who consumed fruits and vegetables in the interval of 258-549g (2nd and 3rd quintiles of fruit and vegetable consumption). Those who consumed less or more fruits and vegetables rated their health worse. There were no differences in the relationship between self-rated health and consumption of fruits and vegetables among the sexes, although men had a higher chance of rating their health as bad than women. Key words: self rated health, fruit and vegetable intake, fruit, vegetable, regression
Analysis of a selected groups of psychiatric patients
Päckertová, Barbora ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Lustigová, Michala (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of selected diagnoses of psychiatric patients in 2019, specifically diagnoses from the category F30-F39 (affective disorders) and F40-F48 (neurotic, stress- related and somatoform disorders). The aim of this work is to approach the topic of mental disorders, related concepts, and to analyze selected patients receiving outpatient health care with a focus on the Czech Republic. The work uses anonymized data from VZP ČR for selected diagnoses. Within the monitored diagnoses, data for the number of uniquely treated patients (UOP), the number of contacts / visits to outpatient health care facilities and the costs of outpatient care for selected diagnoses are analyzed. Descriptive analysis of selected diagnoses is performed on the basis of two expertise (305 - psychiatry and 901 - clinical psychology). The data showed that the proportion of VZP ČR's patients with selected diagnoses differs according to outpatient health expertise. The highest share of patients in expertise 305 is visible within middle-aged patients, on the contrary, in expertise 901 is the largest share of patients within younger age categories. Based on both expertise, the highest average costs spent by VZP ČR on 1 UOP and number of average contacts on 1 UOP for selected diagnoses also differ.

Impact of physical (in)activity on Health among Ageing population - analysis of the SHARE study
Csurillová, Michaela ; Lustigová, Michala (advisor) ; Žejglicová, Kristýna (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the influence of physical (in) activity on the health of an aging population using the data of the SHARE study. The first aim of the work was to find out which sociodemographic factors and health and lifestyle factors are related to the level of physical activity. Age and subjective health were found to be the most important factors related to the level of physical activity in the aging population. Another goal was to determine whether there is a relationship between the incidence of selected diseases (myocardial infarction, stroke, diabetes mellitus) and the level of physical activity. It has been shown that regular physical activity at least once a week reduces the risk of incidence of these diseases in an aging population. In the case of diabetes mellitus, even any physical activity reduces the risk of incidence of this disease. Key words: physical activity, health, ageing, SHARE data
Tobacco control in the CR and Canada aimed especially at socioeconomic, political and environmental aspects
Fraser, Keely ; Králíková, Eva (advisor) ; Janout, Vladimír (referee) ; Lustigová, Michala (referee)
(English) Smoking is the leading cause of premature mortality and morbidity globally (WHO, 2018). Within the Czech Republic (CR) tobacco consumption ranks among the highest in the world, and tobacco control measures rank among the poorest globally (Joossens and Raw, 2014; American Cancer Society, 2018). Smoking related chronic diseases and the loss of active part of life are an enormous and growing burden on the Czech system. There is urgency to invest in efforts that will control and decrease the demand for tobacco products (OECD, 2017). Experiences and lessons learned in tobacco control (TC) by other countries, such as Canada, may provide valuable insight to help guide Czech decision makers in identifying policy best buys moving forward. The basic research carried out as part of this PhD project focuses specifically on a comparison of TC in Canada and the CR. It also includes: 1) a national cross-sectional survey of all organizations involved in TC to describe capacity and involvement in TC measures outlined by the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) (Fraser et al. 2019); 2) a prospective cohort study which describes the results of intensive smoking cessation treatment offered by Centers for Tobacco Dependent (CTD) (Králiková et al. 2014); 3) a cross sectional survey of patients...
Determinants of the circulatory system diseases among the Czech population
Lustigová, Michala
Determinants of circulatory system diseases among the Czech population Abstract The determinants of circulatory system diseases are very well known, modifiable risk factors and factors widely spread among populations are in focus for the public health research. The aim of this thesis is a quantification of main cardiovascular risk factors in the Czech population using the survival analysis and HAPIEE cohort data. The epidemiologic situation, trends in the Czech population health including "the cardiovascular revolution" is discussed in the first part of the thesis. Among the Czech population high prevalence of many risk factors were found. The education had the strongest impact on cardiovascular health from sociodemographic characteristics. The negative effect of smoking, prevalence of high blood pressure, prevalence of diabetes and physical inactivity was confirmed. On the other hand the impact of obesity, binge drinking and high blood cholesterol level was not significant among the Czech population. The population approach in cardiovascular epidemiology and cardiovascular health promotion as well are discussed in the last chapter.
