The needs analysis of the clients in drop-in centre with a drug consumption room in Berlin.

Background: Drug consumption rooms are a service where clients can consume illegal addictive substances under the supervision of trained staff. In some countries, drug consumption rooms have been in operation for over 30 years, and various studies provide positive results that acquaint us with the benefits that drug consumption rooms provide. However, this master thesis does not aim to focus on the already confirmed, but on the specific experiences and needs of individuals who are in almost daily contact with this type of service. The research was done in a low-threshold facility with a drug consumption room in Berlin named Birkenstube. This facility has been in operation since the beginning of 2004 and is thus one of the first facilities with a drug consumption room in the city of Berlin. Despite its long history, tradition and constantly changing needs of its clientele, the activity of this facility was last evaluated in the year 2015. Drop-out of patients with substance addiction from hospital treatment

Background: The drop-out phenomenon is a common occurrence in addiction treatment, despite playing one of the most crucial roles in achieving desired treatment outcomes for addiction. The issue of drop-out is associated with both the healthcare facility and the patient, making it necessary to examine risk factors and learn how to respond to them. Aims: The aim of this study is to map and describe the factors that led patients in medium-term residential treatment to prematurely terminate treatment at their own request. The specific objectives are to assess the treatment program's design from the perspective of both patients and members of the therapeutic team, focus on patient needs, describe common characteristics of these patients, and identify potential interventions suitable for the treatment adaptation phase. Methods: Data were collected using a qualitative method of semi-structured interviews. Interviews were conducted with respondents who met the selection criteria, including patients and members of the therapeutic team. The research sample consisted of a total of 11 respondents. Attachement disorders predicted by ECR, case studies of teenager girls with addiction problems in institutional upbringing

BACKGROUND: Attachment disorders have an impact on the future quality of interpersonal relationships and are related to disorders in adolescence, such as the tendency to engage in risky behaviour. Clients who are placed in the diagnostic institute and affiliated units have disturbed relationships and at the same time have been shown to exhibit risky behaviour. The family backgrounds from which clients come are often dysfunctional or disrupted, and attachment disorders may also play a role. OBJECTIVES: Determination of the percentage of attachment disorders in girls ordered into institutional care due to substance use and subsequent development of case studies for selected disorders predicted by the ECR (Experience of close relationships). Thus, the aim is to take a deeper look at the issue of attachment disorders and adolescent girls with ordered institutional education METHODS: Quantitative research - submission of a questionnaire survey to ECR and subsequent statistical evaluation Qualitative research: case studies of clients with proven attachment disorder in the form of semi-structured interviews. Case management in the addictology service and in the mental health center with clients with a dual diagnosis

The bachelor thesis focuses on comparison of working methods in social services (in the addiction support service and in the centre for mental health), which work together with clients with dual diagnosis, using the case management method. In the theoretical part, I am concentrating on the topic of the dual diagnosis, including integrated treatment as one of the most effective approaches in treating individuals with dual diagnosis. Further, I am describing basic principles of case management, also the use of case management in the addiction support services and in the services specializing on mental health issues. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to map out and compare the usage of case management in the addiction support service and in the centre for mental health, while working together with clients with dual diagnosis. The information were gained with a qualitative method through half-structured interviews with various service workers. The research group includes four workers from two different addiction support services and four workers from two different centres for mental health. Evaluation of the Addiction Multidisciplinary Team pilot project from the perspective of interested workers

Addiction care is currently affected by the ongoing reform of mental health care, as part of which the Addiction Multidisciplinary Team pilot project was launched in 2020. This pilot project was set up to work with drug users in the form of case management. Four organizations operating in the Czech Republic participated in this pilot project. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the pilot project of the Addiction multidisciplinary team from the point of view of the workers who were interested in the project. This thesis is focused on the evaluation of the preparation and progress of the pilot project, it is also focused on the evaluation of changes in the system of addiction services after the launch of the project and on the benefits and negatives of the pilot project from the perspective of the employees. The research tool was the method of formative evaluation of the process, within which the interview method was used with six workers from two interested organizations. Interviews with employees revealed that, even though they perceive certain barriers and shortcomings of the pilot operation, they consider the changes in direct work with clients and the formation of multidisciplinary teams to be beneficial and innovative. Factors predicting remaining in medium-term addicton therapy.

Background: In patients starting mid-term addiction treatment, similar psychosocial and demographic factors can be identified, which subsequently influence patients' motivation to continue treatment. The main factors include social background, age, history of incarceration, type of primary addictive behaviour. Aims: The aim of the thesis was to identify baseline factors influencing positively or negatively the probability of regular treatment completion, the factors predicting early treatment drop-out and factors predicting remaining in treatment long enough to complete it properly. Methods: All patients (total number 411) who voluntarily entered medium-term addiction treatment in psychiatric hospital Havlíčkův Brod (PNHB) from 1st January 2016 to 31st December 2019 were included in the study. To assess regular treatment completion the entire group was analysed together. To assess the factors influencing the length of stay in treatment, patients were divided into three groups according to the number of days spent in the hospital (0-60, 61- 120, 121-183). The whole work tries to elaborate the theme of addiction on addictive substances in focus on bio- psychosocial-spiritual part of the whole problem. Human personality has the deep based predisposition to be addictive and it has a complete potential to become addictive in all ways. The occasions of this addiction are able to be found in all domains of human being, beginning with physiognomy and ending with spirituality. The reasons why the subject becomes addictive or eventually only tries the addictive substances are able to be found in looking for transcendent experience, sense of existence, in escaping from problems, pain or killing the bore or solitude. If the human becomes addictive he starts an inescapable way leading straight to total destruction of personality in all its qualities. Spiritual part of personality, the self-awareness, the unity and the normal values are damaged by the addiction and the human is moving himself to his own animalism oriented to acquiring substances. The way back devoid of sleeks of nonsensicality is not easy but possibly to be found. The most of addictives go through the resocialization centers on their ways and so these centers could play a key role in changing the life and abstinence. University education of social workers in addictological issues in Europe and USA: a review

BACKGROUND: Academic training of social work students is fundamental to the development of quality workforce. Social workers have worked with drug users and their families since the formation of social work field. Due the diversity of target groups and a number of services in which social workers can act, many of them are employed in services for drug users. Education and training of social work students does not focus enough on the field of addictology. AIMS: To provide a systematic overview of the results of published research studies, dealing with university education of social workers in the field of substance abuse in Europe and the USA. To find out how the training of social workers in the field of substance abuse is organized. METHODS: The resulting product is a systematic review of scientific articles. Articles have been searched in national databases according to the specific criteria, keywords and their combinations. The target group consists of studies dealing with the university education of social workers in the field of substance abuse.
