A Peace of GDR Literary History: Jurek Becker between "Jakob the Liar" and "Bronstein's Children"

The topic of this diploma thesis is the literature of the GDR from the 50s to the 70s, whose character is formed by the remnants of the Holocaust and the dominance of socialism. After the Second World War, a considerable amount of works with a Jewish theme as well as works dealing with everyday problems in the socialist milieu appears. The East German writer of Jewish origin Jurek Becker is an example of the author who has experience with both the persecution of Jews and the socialist regime, and therefore incorporates them into the main themes of his literary works. The aim of the thesis is to find out how was contemporary literature influenced by these facts, not only by examining the political and cultural context, but especially through the mentioned author and his four novels.

These parts are not presented separate, because in practical part I tried to suggest and validate experimentally my own pedagogical project in conjunction with the theoretical part and it's content, where in the text those two parts support themselves.

A comparative study of contemporary morning broadcast Radiozurnal and Radio Impuls

The master thesis called "A comparative study of contemporary morning broadcast Radiozurnal and Radio Impuls" presents broadcasting comparation of this two radio stations. Both of them are the most listened stations in the Czech Republic, they are also the biggest competitors. Radiozurnal is Czech radio's public station and Radio Impuls is commercial station, therefore, thesis is based on the assumption that their program is different. The main part of this master thesis is content analysis, which was made between two weeks in the end of January and in the beginning of February 2019. The morning broadcast of both stations was analyzed on the basis of three reasearch questions, in terms of thematic focus, local focus and genre focus. The analysis includes a comparasion of language style. The research results are compared and shown in charts and graphs. Based on literature, the master thesis also defines specific features of radio broacasting and its genre forms. The specific methodology of morning broadcasting of both station is based on interviews with the editors.

Revenge or Forgiveness in Jurek Becker's "Bronsteins Kinder"

This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of the work Bronsteins Kinder written by a German author of Jewish birth Jurek Becker. The historical context is introduced at first to enable better understanding of the novel, whose main task is the answer to the question: "What happened with Jews who survived in the GDR after the World War II?" Then, the thesis is focused on introduction of the author and finally on the work itself with the main theme "Revenge or Forgiveness", where Jurek Becker offers a view of two generations which are separated by experiences from a concentration camp and so creates a different view of this subject matter. After more detailed analysis of the work with the interpretation, it follows focusing on the important elements which constitute the plot of the novel.

A comparative study of contemporary radio news Radio Impuls and Radiožurnál

The main target of this study is to compare content of the news in two radio stations in the Czech Republic. Those include commercial Radio Impuls and public radio Radiozurnal. Introduction is devoted to theoretical foundations of radio news in our territory. In this part is the history of radio news, definition of radio news, its principles and forms, language style and genres of news program. Based on interviews with the editors of these two radio stations there is characteristic of their news program. The most important part of this work is content analysis. The results of research comparing the orientation and preferences of these radio stations - thematic and local focus and genre forms. The data are shown in each chart.
