Sensitivity analysis in distributed-parameter systems

The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to familiarize with calculation of modified nodal analysis and its application in distributed-parameter systems. Realize evaluation of sensitivities with respect to a primary parameters R0,L0,C0,G0 and length l of transmission line. Then apply this technique on example in Matlab language using graphical user interface GUIDE. Selected technique is accelerated method based on efficient computation of matrix exponential function. The results are sensitivities of circuit values with respect to a primary parameters R0,L0,C0,G0 and length l of transmission line.

OCR module for recognition of letters and numbers

This paper describes basic methods used for optical character recognition. It explains all procedures of recognition from adjustment of picture, processing, feature extracting to matching algorithms. It compares methods and algorithms for character recognition obtained graphically distorted or else modified image so-called „captcha“, used in present. Further it compares method based on invariant moments and neural network as final classifier and method based on correlation between normals and recognized characters.

Shamanic Healing: An Analysis of the Process of Healing and Recovery in Contemporary Czech Shamanism

This dissertation examines the process of shamanic healing and recovery with an emphasis on client's perspective and offers an interpretive framework within which patients' experience can be understood. The thesis is based on field research and in-depth interviews with clients of shamanic healing. Based on their accounts, the thesis examines, how they perceive, describe and experience shamanic healing. Then seeks to answer the question of how and what shamanic healing "really" heals and cures. This thesis first examines the broader topics and then proceeds into deeper detail. The first chapter deals with defining and situating contemporary shamanism within the milieu of contemporary alternative religiosity. It understands "alternative spirituality" - through a definition focused on religious practice - as a "religion" and shamanism as its "configuration". The second part of the thesis undertakes a historical analysis of the discursive understanding of the word "shaman" and shows how the meaning of the word "shaman" has changed over time to the contemporary popular understanding of the shaman as a healer. Cortijeros en La Alpujarra: From the Lifestyle migration to Thinking about a Positive Anthropology

Lifestyle migrants from the affluent North move to the Mediterranean region intensively from the 80's. Lifestyle migration to Spain takes different forms: here we meet rich yacht owners in Marbella, retired people in the housing complexes in Almuñecar, or surfers in Tarifa. This work focused on people, who chose their new place in the region of La Alpujarra. They live in the remote houses called cortijos, which gave name to their inhabitants - cortijeros. Their lifestyles are the subject of this work, together with more general strategies practiced in lifestyle migration, the skills needed in such a move, and values they pursue. Ten years of research enabled to get together both, opinions and plans of the newcomers in the region, and their activities, stories, and imprints in the real world. I try to present different perspectives: the lens of lifestyle migration, counter-urbanization, material culture anthropology, history, positive psychology. At the end, I propose to think a positive anthropology that would focus on studying such practices that seemed to work towards understanding "the good life"; that work towards both individual well-being, and creating social structures considerate to humans and the environment.

Journey and ritual: through the anthropology of movement and the labyrinth of sacred in Hispanic cultures' imagination

This thesis deals with the subject of pilgrimage, movement or journey in general. The area of the study is the Hispanic culture. The study of pilgrimage has challenged anthropology so that the anthropology of pilgrimage and mobility has become an interesting and progressive field of study of our discipline. The non-instrumental and ritualized movement has an important role in all religious as well as secular traditions. The purpose of this study is to relate pilgrimage with other forms of movement such as travelling, tourism and ethnography, and to challenge the borders between religious and secular motion. It is used the notion of the rite of passage to stress the position of the traveler that moves from his normal, everyday life and enters the unknown, other world. Pilgrimage embodies the opposition of stasis and movement, of static and dynamic, of known and unknown, of regular and irregular, of ordinary and extraordinary. The aim of the study is to emphasize the significance of sacrifice - an important part of pilgrimage - which generates psychic and social power. In pilgrimage there is an implicit understanding of the ideas such as reciprocity, symbolic exchange, and the sacred that is the source of power.
