Everyday Life of the Czech (Czechoslovak) pilots in the Great Britain (1939-1945)

Author of this thesis analyses everyday life of the Czechoslovak pilots, members of the RAF in the Great Britain. Considering the large scale that encompasses this issue, the focus will be only on the specific field of life of the Czechoslovak pilots and other personnel in RAF. It will mainly include accommodation, eating, celebrating, uniforms, ranks and pays. Relationship towards the British women will not be left out either, regarding them not only as members of an auxiliary force but also as ordinary women. Author uses an extensive amount of literature an archive material, especially one from the Central Military Archive in Prague.
The character of "parvenu" in the French novel of the 19th century: The Red and the Black by Stendhal and Bel-Ami by Maupassant

The bachelor work deals with the analysis of the mains characters of novels The Red and the Black written by Stendhal and Bel-Ami by Guy de Maupassant. Firstly, we introduce a literature movement (realism) into which these two pieces of the work falls. We present the typical tools of this movement and clarify the historical context. We also present the life and work of the above mentioned authors. Furthermore, we define the character of novel and its characteristics. We explain the term parvenu which appears in title of the work. But mainly, we focus on the analysis of Julien Sorel and Georges Duroy made on the bases of their origins, appearance, character and relationships. Finally, we compare them and decide who we can call the parvenu.
The "Simpson Affair" and the "Annus horribilis" Contribution to the Changes of the Picture of the British Royal Family in the General Public in the 20th Century

In this thesis the author analyses the changes in the view of the British Royal Family in general public during the 20th century. Given the extensiveness of the topic, the author focuses on two crisis situations - so called "Simpson Affair" - the abdication of King Edward VIII in 1936 and his relationship with divorced American Wallis Simpson, and so called "Annus Horribilis" - the divorce of the successor to the throne prince Charles and princess Diana Spencer. The author analyses changes in perception of the role of British Royal Family in life of British nation and its role within British general public. Author works with unpublished sources (mainly from the archive materials gathered from the sources of the Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the National Archives in London - Kew, with published sources and extensive specialized literature mostly from British provenience. The thesis maps the principles of support of cultural projects and organizations from the private sector in the Czech Republic. It deals with the application of sponsorship and corporate philanthropy to the sphere of culture and the arts and its comparison with other spheres of corporate support. The objective of the thesis is to determine what motivates companies to give support, to identify the principles for the allocation of such support and finally to define the obstacles and problems hindering more private sector involvement in the area of culture. The thesis is based on surveys of marketing managers and company owners. Through the synthesis of the author?s own experience and research findings as described in the thesis, the thesis proposes a possible solution/departure point based on broader contexts with the aid of specialized literature and subsequent analysis.
