New ligands for applications in medicine
Holá, Kateřina ; Kotek, Jan (advisor) ; Holzhauser, Petr (referee)
The aim of this Thesis was the preparation of macrocyclic ligands (Figure 1) for the complexation of lantanoides 3+ . Their complexes can be used in nuclear medicine (in case of ligand L1) or as MRI contrast agents (in case of ligand L2). Ligand L1 was designed to increase the rate of complexation due to the weakly binding pendant group based on iminodiacetic acid (IDA). The complexation mechanism was spectrophotometrically studied with Ce3+ . Spectrophotometric kinetic measurements proved that ligand L1 not only shown no improvement in the complexation rate but its complexation is rather noticeable slowed. Ligand L2 contains amino group whose protonization/coordination could be influenced by pH or temperature. It can be utilized in determination of physical status of different tissues. However, it is difficult to obtain the ligand L2 in sufficient purity for further studies N N NN COOHHOOC HOOC N COOH COOH P OH O L1 N N NN COOHHOOC HOOC NH2 L2 Figure 1: Ligands prepared in course of this Bc Thesis
Hygienická kvalita mléka
Holá, Kateřina
This work deals with the hygienic quality of milk, the possibilities of its influence in the barn in the process of breeding and in its acquisition. The theoretical part describes in detail the various components of milk, such as proteins, fats, carbohydrates and focuses on hy-giene of the milk before and after milking. There is also described heat treatment of milk, including cattle diseases that affect milk production. In the practical part evaluates the qual-ity of the milk sold in selected farm. Starting from the results of laboratory analyzes of milk, which are assessed according to the season and the state of health of dairy cows.
The effect of MCT on endurance performance
Holá, Kateřina ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Brandejský, Petr (referee)
MCT oils are triglycerides whose fatty acids have an aliphatic tail of 6-12 carbon atoms. Within the gastrointestinal tract, MCT are digested to their respective fatty acids (MCFAs) and rapidly absorbed and transported into the portal vein which then takes them straight to the liver, therefore MCTs are not stored in fat deposits in the body as much as LCTs. In addition, MCTs can pass through the mitochondrial membrane of the liver and muscle not depending on the carnitine transporter, what makes them a very readily available source of energy. Endurance athletes try to maximize their ability to mantain glycogen stores during exercise, so that using these supplements as a quick source of energy should lead to improved endurance performance. The aim of the work is to provide a more objective view of the prevailing trends and different conclusions of particular scientific studies and to clarify the impact of MCT on sport endurance performance. The work includes meta-analysis based on data collection method from previously published scientific studies following the use of MCTs in relation to sport endurance performance. Medical database PubMed and multidisciplinary databases EBSCO and Google Scholar were used to search for these studies. The meta-analysis does not show any specific effect of MCTs...
The Power of Fiction: enviromental issues in American cinema
Holá, Kateřina ; Soukup, Martin (advisor) ; Moulis, Ladislav (referee)
This master thesis deals with one of the current trends in cinema - the so-called climate change film. Film as a popular medium is able to influence public debate and this paper's main objective is to explain how environmental issues can be portrayed in film and how such films shape the climate change debate. In the first, theoretical part of this thesis, the aim is to briefly introduce the history and context of climate change debate from the 1970s to the present day based on sources primarily from interdisciplinary cultural and environmental studies. It also explains how environmental problems started to arise in different art spheres, above all in American cinema from 1995 to the present. The second part analyzes four American feature films of different genres: The Day After Tomorrow (2004) directed by Roland Emmerich's, The Road (2009) directed by John Hillcoat, Before the Flood (2016) directed by Fisher Stevens and Darren Aronofsky's mother! (2017). The final chapter summarizes the findings, explains the currently prevalent apocalyptic narrative and discusses why such approach is not effective and how filmmakers need to transform climate change stories into positive narratives that inspire change and hope.
Contemporary British climate change plays
Holá, Kateřina ; JOBERTOVÁ, Daniela (advisor) ; KYSELOVÁ, Eva (referee)
This master thesis deals with one of the current trends in contemporary British drama – the so-called „climate change plays“. In the first part of this thesis my aim is to briefly introduce the history and context of climate change debate from the 1970s to the present day and explain how environmental problems started to arise in different art spheres, above all in Anglophone literature. In the second part the focus is on the climate change plays that emerged in English speaking countries in the past 15 years. The core of this thesis are analyses of four plays premiered in major London theatres between 2009 – 2011: The Contingency Plan by Steve Waters, The Heretic by Richard Bean, Mike Bartlett’s Earthquakes in London and Lungs by Duncan Macmillan. The main objective of these analyses is their approach towards climate change science and their shared ideologies, motives and themes. The last chapter attempts to evaluate this social phenomenon and to consider the difficulties artists have to face when dealing with such complex scientific problems like climate change.
The governing bodies of the association of owners of (residential) units and their decision/making
Holá, Kateřina ; Oehm, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Eichlerová, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis deals with the governing bodies of the association of unit-owners and the way of their decision-making. It is focused on usual interpretative problems, which appear in practice in association with this problematic . An association of unit-owners is an legal entity, which originates on the grounds of The Act of Housing Property. Its existence is always connected with a concrete building divided into residential (in some cases also nonresidential) units. Membership in the association of unit-owners is inseparably linked to the ownership of each unit in this building. The Act of Housing Property also establishes that the association of unit-owners has only special legal personality. It means it can execute that kind of discretions and duties which deal with an object of their activities, such as administration, operation and repairs of common parts of the building (in case The Act of Housing Property states, also other associated activities) - this whole area is called administration of the building. The Decree of the government, which issues the model statutes of the association of unit-owners, offers more exact features of the activities, rather than The Act of Housing Property. These activities can be summed up as the building administration. Chapter one and two of this thesis deal with...

Mariusz Szczygieł's Gottland on Czech stages
Holá, Kateřina ; JIŘÍK, Jan (advisor) ; MUSILOVÁ, Martina (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with so far the only two Czech productions of Gottland based on a book of reportage of the same name written by a Polish journalist and writer Mariusz Szczygieł - the Czech premiere at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava in 2011 and the later production at Švandovo Theatre in Prague. It focuses primarily on their analysis and compares different approaches to the dramatization of non-dramatic literature and by analysing dramaturgical concepts this thesis concentrates on the usage of the montage principle on stage. The thesis also includes a brief introduction to the life and work of Mariusz Szczygieł and the tradition of Polish School of Reportage.
