The influence of hip mobility on the performance of a long-distance runner
Dubjáková, Kateřina ; Herbenová, Alena (advisor) ; Krchová, Zuzana (referee)
The main objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of hip mobility on the running performance of a long-distance runner, change in dynamic ROM of the hip joint in sagittal plane and running time of 5 km run. To compare the differences between experimental and control group. Methods: Participants in this study were long-distance runners divided into two groups (experimental and control). Both groups underwent baseline and outcome measurements including a kinematic analysis of the hip joint on a treadmill to assess the dynamic ROM in the sagittal plane and a measurement of running performance during a 5 km time trial. The experimental group underwent an intervention programme combining developmental kinesiology and yoga positions. All outcome data were first tested for normal distribution. Statistical significance level of 0.05 was chosen for all tests. The paired t-test was used to test the difference between the input/output values of the hip ROM and running times for each group. The unpaired two-sample Welch's t-test was used to test between-group differences in the hip ROM and running times. Results: The experimental group had increase in dynamic hip ROM (p<0.05) and decrease in running times (p<0.05) after the intervention programme. There was statistically significantly...
Hyperpronated position of the foot in students of classical dance
Vacíková, Alexandra ; Herbenová, Alena (advisor) ; Marenčáková, Jitka (referee)
The main objective: The aim of this bachelor thesis was to find out the frequency of foot hyperpronation among the students of classical dance and to compared how this foot position changes depending on length of study at dance conservatory. Secondary objectives were to compare size of calcaneal angle depending on length of study at dance conservatory and to find out the frequency of valgus position of calcaneus. Methods: Participants in practical part of this thesis were female students of dance conservatory in Prague aged between 11-20. Students were divided into three groups based on the year of study. In group 1 were students from the 1st and the 2nd grade, in group 2 were students from the 4th and the 5th grade, in group 3 were students from the 7th grade. Hyperpronation was evaluated by the Navicular Drop test. Calcaneal angle was measured by the goniometer and the position of calcaneus was evaluated by aspection. Participants who were evaluated as hyperpronators, received to fill in questionnaire which was focused on whether they are aware of the wrong position of the foot. Frequency of hyperpronation was statistically verified by the Chi-square test and frequency of the valgus position of calcaneus was tested by the Fisher exact test. Comparison of hyperpronation, evaluated by the Navicular...
Fascia and chornic obstructive pulmonary disease in physiotherapy
Syniavska, Mariia ; Herbenová, Alena (advisor) ; Honců, Pavla (referee)
The bachelor's thesis is focused on the use of fascial techniques in COPD therapy by physiotherapists and on determining their effectiveness. It is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The first of them deals with the characteristics of COPD as a disease and the role of fascia in its pathophysiology, also fascia and techniques of influencing them. At the beginning of the practical part, the goals of this work, hypotheses, material and methodology are stated. Furthermore, a questionnaire with the results of the research investigation is presented. At the end of the work and in discussion, an analysis of the research results and their comparison with the stated hypotheses is presented. Key words: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, COPD therapy, fascia, fascial techniques
Function of iliopsoas muscle
Kazda, Vojtěch ; Herbenová, Alena (advisor) ; Vacek, Jan (referee)
The main purpose of my study is to sum up the function of iliopsoas muscle in terms of present literary sources. The function is analyzed especially in course of the most frequent and common human activities, and also in the other activities typical for this muscle. That is why I try to analyze its activation during upright standing, walking, running and the other movements. I separately focus on the effect of psoas muscle activity to the lumbar spine, and then I mention kinesiological relationships of lumbar spine, pelvis and thigh-bones. I use these analyses for considerations about functional disorders of iliopsoas muscle, so that I suggest possibility of using these analyses in practice.
Morbus Perthes and posture in adulthood
Doubrava, Ondřej ; Herbenová, Alena (advisor) ; Dušánek, Tomáš (referee)
Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease is an aseptic necrosis of the hip head occurring in childhood with the risk of arthrosis in the future. The treatment lasts from 1 to 4 years and is either conservative or operative. Part of the treatment is always rehabilitation and physiotherapy which increase its efficiency and reduce the risk of movement deficits of the affected hip joint. Nevertheless the function of the joint can be damaged and it can influence, due to secondary changes, the posture in the following years. Physiotherapy procedures have positive impact on these changes and help to prevent further deterioration of functional status of the patient.
Physiotherapy options in dialysis patients
Vernerová, Lenka ; Herbenová, Alena (advisor) ; Honců, Pavla (referee)
The aim of this work is to point the benefits of physiotherapy and the possibilities of its use in dialysis patients. It present basic information about the kidney disease, dialysis treatment and possible complications that may arise. It focus on the physical examination and possibilities to join the activity program, which takes place during the dialysis treatment or beyond. The exercises are divided into three basic phases. Each with a different structure of the excercise unit and different intensity of the given physical activity.
Options for psychophysical development in primary school children
Klika, Petr ; Maryška, Jan (advisor) ; Herbenová, Alena (referee)
This bachelor`s thesis describes options and methods for the psycho-physical development of primary school children as well as techniques for facilitating such development. The goal is to share the author's theoretical and practical approach to the topic. Practice directs our attention to perception and movement leads to our ability to develop. We learn how to improve basic body principles.
