OpenBSD on PDA

In the present work we study a process of porting the OpenBSD operating system kernel to a Palm Tungsten T|5 handheld device. The begining of this work explains main characteristics of the ARM architecture as well as the principle of internal workage of the OpenBSD kernel. The further part is then about porting the kernel, starting with bootloader development, necessary modifications of the kernel, explaining a process of developing custom drivers and installing the system. This work also explains possible common problems that may arise alongside the process. At the end is also explained a basic post-installation system setup and directions to rebuild the system from source codes on the PDA.

This master thesis covers implementation of a suitable algorithm of transaction processing existing in DBMS environment into the fulltext search engine Egothor. The thesis consists of analysis of functionality of the Egothor system, of the processes being executed during creation and management of the index and analysis of the original source code of the search engine project. Description of the existing algorithms of transaction processing follows along with their evaluation and comparison. Evaluation of the described algorithms is primarily concentrated on the environment of the web search engine Egothor and the most suitable method is chosen for further implementation. As a part of the thesis the chosen algorithm has been fully implemented along with some other project functional requirements. Description of the final implementation closes this master thesis.

Visualizer of the Web Structure

Web crawler generates web structure including the notes (anchor texts) which belong to individual links.Thesis target is to analyze and implement method for visualisation of this oriented graph structure. Implementation language platform is Java. Implementation must be able to denamically change the view according to defined criteria - showing only certain links or web pages. Grouping of links or web pages must be also available.

The WWW is dominated by search engines such as Google. They are inseparable part of everyday search for information. Theoretical research field interested in searching, the information retrieval, focuses mainly on the natural language constructs - words. During the last years the field has been extended to other searchable content as well. The world of mathematical knowledge on the WWW has grown enormously. The importance of a general mathematical search engine is clear. However, this research field had been abandoned until very recently. Despite the fact that an active ongoing research is in progress, few practical results have been presented. The main goal of this thesis is to fill this gap. A new mathematical search engine was proposed with the focus on applicability. As the only capable search engine of indexing WWW effectively is the full text search engine it was used as the basis. The mathematical extension was designed as an extension which allows it to exploit and use all the advantages of the full text search engine. Most of the mathematical documents do not contain semantic information. The solution to this problem was one of the main goals of this thesis. Dmoz.org Search Engine

dmoz.org is the largest human-edited directory of the Web. It is possible to get database of this directory by the public from the project web page. The main purpose of my work is to design and implement fulltext search engine for the directory database dmoz.org. In my work I deal with directory database processing that will make the web portal readable by any web browser. There will be also possible to search in categories of the directory. It is necessary to implement e ective updating of the portal because of often changes in the directory database.

Network Repository for Performance Evaluation Results

Benchmarks of software systems produce large amount of data that need to be stored and processed. The goal of the thesis is to design and implement a repository, providing also functions for presentation of the results. Repository implementation which is part of this thesis works as a web application and supports parsing of various result formats, including plaintext and XML. Presentation functions include generation of plots as well as HTML pages describing extracted values.

Node Alias Resolution

IP alias resolution is a common problem of all Internet mapping efforts based on traceroute tool. Routers often utilize multiple interfaces. When such a router is placed on administration boundaries, these interfaces can have non-adjacent IP addresses and DNS names. The challenge of this thesis is to find out which of the revealed router interfaces are aliases, meaning they belong to the same router. Because grouping of interfaces can have various granularity (router, ISP, geographical areas, etc.), we use more general term "Node Alias Resolution".

Detection of Duplicates in Huge Web Databases

This master thesis analyses the methods used for duplicity document detection and possibilities of their integration with a web search engine. It offers an overview of commonly used methods, from which it chooses the method of approximation of the Jaccard similarity measure in combination with shingling. The chosen method is adapted for implementation in the Egothor web search engine environment. The aim of the thesis is to present this implementation, describe its features, and find the most suitable parameters for the detection to run in real time. An important feature of the described method is also the possibility to make dynamic changes over the collection of indexed documents.
