Ladmanová, Petra ; Ferrarová, Eva (advisor) ; Crofony, Timea (referee)
Food is an important part of our lives, not only is it a basic human need, but it is also an important function of our identity from a cultural, biological, social, gender, age a religious point of view. Food is always present in religion as it serves to preserve tradition, and it is the rituals associated with it that play the most important role as it connects believers to their ancestors and gods through food. Tradition and rituals serve to sustain the community, so this thesis examines whether the perceptions of respondents of different generations in practicing Jewish families change depending on the age of the respondent. My own belief is that the younger generation observes kosher dietary rules less than the older generation. In this thesis, I attempt to find out through qualitative research whether there are differences in the observance of the kosher diet and its rules in different generations in Jewish practicing families. Among other things, I draw on the findings of several authors who have touched on the hypothesis of my undergraduate thesis. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first focuses on theory, discussing what kosher food is, its roots, rituals and traditions. In the second part I rely on qualitative semi-structured interviews with eighteen respondents. These are...

Archival research, collection of wartime and period materials, especially recipes, which are part of this work, are used as a collection method. The work answers the questions, in what ways and whether it is even possible to replace bread. It looks at the ways of its transformation during the war years and to answer the question of whether even the drastic change in living conditions brought about by the First World War can lead to its demise. In such a situation, does culture come before biological need, or does not? Keywords: Bread, Culture, Shortage, First world war, Recipes.

Culture, gender and power
Ferrarová, Eva ; Soukup, Václav (advisor) ; Matějů, Martin (referee) ; Pavlík, Petr (referee)
The dissertation focuses on a theoretical analysis of feminist theories in the context of social and cultural evolutionary changes. Special attention is paid to the culturological connections between gender, culture, and power. The aim of my reflexion is to describe concrete solutions offered by various feminist theories and schools from the perspective of improvement of the women's position in the society. The key of understanding the women's position in the society are gender behavioural patterns and gender stereotypes accepted and further reproduced by the majority culture. Hence attention is paid to a transformation of these patterns and stereotypes and a study of reasons why women were excluded from public life. Theoretical and empirical analysis of the women's exclusion from public life and searching for an answer to the question why women and the femininity are on the value ladder in the society behind men and the masculinity is a significant part of the dissertation. The results obtained by this research were used to verify how much gender influences basic social institutions (family, education system, labour market, and politics) in the contemporary Czech society.
Paradigm of Czech modern and postmodern feminism in the context of European culture
Fuxová, Bohuslava ; Ferrarová, Eva (referee) ; Pachmanová, Martina (referee)
This study presents an anthropological and historical analysis of the women's movement in Europe and its interaction with and influence over the development of the women's emancipation movement in Bohemia since the romantic period. Specifically, this study focuses on and understands European feminist literary achievements as crucial to instigating and informing the various developmental stages of the emancipation movement in Bohemia. In mapping the features of the Czech women's emancipation movement not only onto major works of European feminism but minor ones as well, this study examines the full range of influence had by feminist writing in the Czech lands, including that of works that have fallen into obscurity. By reconstructing international feminist writing in its historical context, this study is able to identify "lost" texts and consider closely their movement between feminism and romanticism, liberalism and capitalism. Against this backdrop, this study brings the individual efforts of both known and relatively unknown feminist pioneers in Bohemia to the fore in an attempt to grant them the public recognition they deserve. Thus, this study traces the currents of global feminism in order to achieve a powerful local effect.
