Use of technology in optimization of event attendees' experience
Dokoupilová, Eliška ; Slussareff, Michaela (advisor) ; Ferenc, Jakub (referee)
This thesis connects the influence of experience economy and ICT on event industry in a research of use of technology in optimization of attendee's event experience. By combining primary and secondary literature with qualitative research we come to conclusions that an optimal event experience is complex assemblage of affective, cognitive and conative aspects, we prove the benefits of event technology as one of the means to achieving this copious experience and identify concrete methods how to use technology for this purpose.
Theory of contemporary web design and its application to development of responsive websites
Ferenc, Jakub ; Procházka, Josef (advisor) ; Fuglík, Viktor (referee)
By theoretical analysis we regard web design as a digital, design field, which is inherently creative. That is why we analyse it on the background of research in creativity, design and new media. We demystify the romantic view on creativity; analyse the componential, evolutionary and other views on creativity; find out that expertise and context are important for creativity. By analysis of theories of design we discard the perception of a designer as a "decorator"; define design as solving "wicked" problems and as a distinct type of thinking which is suitable for integrating art and technology as well as for innovations in the postindustrial society. We also analyse the relation between design and the user. We discuss code as "material" for web design. After the historical analysis of the evolution of Web we define an "axiomatic system" whereby we analyse Web. The axioms are: Web as a technological platform; Web as a new medium; Web as interface, consisting of code and the human side which exist in the broader sociocultural context; Web as interaction design; Web as a work existing and changing according to the immediate (spatiotemporal) context of use. With the analysis and axioms we elucidate why the current web design is responsive, "mobile first" and what role the mobile context...
The Future of Tram Driving towards Autonomous Technology
Petrásek, Kryštof ; Šlerka, Josef (advisor) ; Ferenc, Jakub (referee)
The text of the diploma thesis focuses on autonomous tram transportation in the context of Prague. The goal of this work is to map out Prague tram transportation and autonomous technology and then suggest its implementation in future service. The outcomes will bet hen projected into the role of a tram driver. The theoretical part consists of historical synthesis of tram transportation and the role of drivers and conductors. It introduces the current state of autonomous technology research for road vehicles, which provide inspiration for tram technology and also current pilot projects of autonomous trams in the world. The practical part includes a prognostic research with professionals with focus on the future of prague trams in the context of autonomy. Another research included observation of interaction between citizens and trams in the field. The outcomes of the research are projected with the background of the theoretical part into a concept of process of autonomous trams implementation for Prague. This process is then reflected from the point of view of tram drivers.
Algorithm driven graphic design
Kabilka, Richard ; Slussareff, Michaela (advisor) ; Ferenc, Jakub (referee)
The diploma thesis inquires into the use of A.I. - artificial intelligence in the field of graphic design. This thesis aims to describe the current state of A.I. use and algorithmization in graphic design and, based on the conducted study, to evaluate the potential of this type of tool and possible impacts on graphic design. The theoretical section will introduce basic principles and concepts of graphic design and its relationship with art and technology, based on professional literature and current research. Furthermore, it will describe the current possibilities and specializations of artificial intelligence. Findings from these two chapters will serve as a framework for critical evaluation of the currently available A.I. driven tools for graphic design. In the research section, a quantitative study utilizing a questionnaire will be conducted among the professional public and examine the opinions and experiences of Czech graphic designers with tools for design automatization. Its results will be used to test the formulated hypotheses utilizing appropriate statistical methods.

Voice User Interface and Democratization of Technology
Ther, Lukáš ; Šisler, Vít (advisor) ; Ferenc, Jakub (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the accessibility of a voice user interface (VUI) for digitally illiterate people. The first part summarizes the principles of VIU design, the standardized methods of usability evaluation and analyzes empirical studies of the accessibility of VUI. The second part of the thesis describes in detail the proposed experiment which uses the OZ method. It deals with the segmentation of digitally illiterate people and describes their typical representatives. The third part is devoted to the analysis of the research results, the evaluation of the usability of interaction systems and analyzes recorded dialogues between participants and the prototype of the voice user interface. The last part discusses the results of the research and formulates preliminary conclusions on the accessibility of VUI for digitally illiterate persons. In addition to the preliminary conclusions, the product of this work presents new hypotheses concerning this specific area of human-computer interaction. Keywords human computer interaction, voice user interface, digital literacy, accessibility, usability 1
Postcognitivistic HCI: Seeing interface as a sociotechnical relation
Ferenc, Jakub ; Brejcha, Jan (advisor) ; Malečková, Dita (referee)
(in English): This thesis focuses on the theories of Human-computer interaction, called by the selected authors "postcognitivistic", that react critically to the cognitivistic approach of the first- wave HCI. The working hypothesis of this work is to view the broader context of interface of technological objects as a medium of a sociotechnical relation between technological artefacts, human actors and the society. The goal of the thesis is to develop a theoretic-philosophical analysis and the comparison of how the primary sources focused on the HCI theory and sociotechnical systems, together with the chosen literature on the new media theory and philosophy of technology, contribute to the contemporary discussion about the contextual aspects of HCI, including the question of how seeing the interface as a sociotechnical relation influences the work of the designers who have to deal with the complexity of contemporary design problems.
