Neolithic settlement in the Libišany register (Pardubice district)

This thesis inquires into conditions in the southern part of the Hradec Králové neolitic settlement. Based on dating of the archeological material from the Libišany register (Pardubice district) almost continuous settlement activity was detected, from the Ib/c degree Linear Pottery Culture up to degree IV of the Stroke-Ornament Ware Culture, with the only discordance in the III degree of the Linear Pottery Culture. The studied territory represents a steady area in the neolitic settlement network in eastern Bohemia. Its lacation on the edge of an uninhabited enclave of Pardubice district assumes that the surrounding uninhabited areas were used for agricultural purposes, which is supported by findings of stone tools in the landscape outside of the settlements. It also might have been used as a base for further colonization of previously uninhabited areas during climate changes. The integration of the studied territory into the super-regional distribution network is illustrated by findings of stone materials from Krakov region and from Jizera region. Local material of baked clay from Kunětická hora was also frequently used.

The contribution to the knowledge of chipped stone industry in the district of Cheb

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to summarize the existing knowledge of the chipped-stone artifacts in the district of Cheb. The thesis provides a revision of a collection of findings located in Cheb museum, localisation and the manner of acquisition of the findings. The revised artifacts are mostly examined from the typological and material viewpoint. Certain selected localities are revised by the archeological non-destructive research through the method of surface prospecting. The same method is then applied on the newly predicted localities.

The Structure and the Chronology of Stroked Pottery Culture Settlements in Eastern Bohemia; This work covers the period of the Stroked Pottery Culture (5100/5000 - 4500/4400 cal BC) in a spatial context that in accordance with the current territorial administrative division corresponds to the Pardubice and the Hradec Králové Regions (Central Europe, Czech Republic). It describes and compares the forms and the composition of the two adjacent areas of Neolithic settlements. Attention is focused primarily on the Hradec Králové area, where two main sites are being studied, i.e. Jaroměř and Plotiště nad Labem. Through analysis of the archaeological material and contextualisation of the results within the wider framework of the Eastern part and subsequently also the entire area of Bohemia it is seeking to identify the hierarchical structure of the settlement. On the basis of the documents of remote distribution it also seeks to identify within this structure any evidence of the presence of groups or individuals with exceptional social status.

Chipped industry from Obříství (distr. of Mělník) in the contects of Central Bohemia

The bachelor thesis deals with the basic methodology of processing of 103 pieces of chipped stone industry, which were obtained during rescue archaeological research at polycultural site Obříství (distr. of Mělník) in 2008-2011. The results of the morphological analysis of artifacts, their drawing documentation and the layout of the type of used raw materials are presented in a catalog of findings. Settlement of Stroked Pottery Culture at Čelákovice

This presented thesis summarises findings from a rescue excavation at the site Čelákovice - "V Rybníčkách" (dist. Prague - East), with an emphasis on the trans-regional contact in the form of the Bavarian Jurrasic chert. The field research has been conducted by Municipal Museum in Čelákovice in summer 2011 due to the construction of a trade centre by the firm Tesco. In the area of 1,4 ha was uncovered a total of 86 features belonging to the stroked pottery culture (StK). Features were mostly constituted of longhouse postholes, further bigger pits and loam pits. They contained more than 6000 ceramic fragments mostly of cauldron- and beaker- shaped vessels, dated on the basis of ornamentation to the younger phase StK IVa. There was also found a large number of chipped and polished industry (450 and 456 artefacts), concentrated mainly in three sunken features interpreted as workshops. Production activity is proven beside fragments of the blades and flakes also by different kinds of sandstone abraders as well as drilling cores. The most important raw material in the collection of chipped industry is represented by the silicite from glacigenic sediments (48 %) and Bavarian Jurrasic chert (38 %). The Stroked pottery site Jaroměř in the light of the settlement of eastern Bohemia in the younger neolithic

The present work describes the results of processing the excavations obtained during the research of habitation at a Stroke-ornamented ware culture in Jaroměř (Náchod county). The inner chronology of the habitation was studied using spatial relation analysis and the study of the ceramic collection. Through the study of the stone tools, the habitation was set within the wider distribution relationships of the region and it was also possible to observe the manufacturing activity in the researched location. With the help of the ceramic remains, three residential phases were identified which correspond with the shift between the older and the younger degree of culture. This chronology also corresponds with the changing building tradition of the houses of the habitation. The existence of an independent manufacturing region was not proved. The present study looks at the form of the pottery at an important time when the Lengyel influence started to permeate from Moravia to Bohemia.
