The topic of labor camps at uranium mines in the teaching of geography (using Jáchymov and Příbram as an example)

This bachelor thesis focuses on geography teaching methods at elementary and high schools in Jáchymov and Příbram regions. Specifically, the research deals with a topic of uranium labor camps, between 1950s and 1960s. The first part of the thesis analyze how geography is being taught at elementary and high schools, based on the curriculum framework and textbook research. Next, there is a chapter with a focus on the labor camps from the point of view of geography. The thesis also contains analysis of the researched locations, especially their mining history. The next section of the bachelor thesis discusses the socio-historical context in the 1950s and 1960s, uranium as the key raw material of the Cold War, labor camps and their characteristics and the inmates' daily routine. The practical part of the thesis is represented by questionnaire research conducted at the elementary and high schools and its results. The final chapter contains worksheets designed for high school students which could be used during outdoor education sessions. Perception of Landscape Heritage by the Local Population of Plešivec

This bachelor's thesis deals with perception of landcape on the example of the Plešivec area located in the Příbram district. The main objective of the thesis is to evaluate the perception of the area by the locals. In the thesis, the locals' visit rate and their knowledge of the place, is analyzed. The thesis than concerns itself with perception of the visit rate and assesement of the landcape's elements. The research was done via 50 half-standardized interviews in the closest circumscribed area in the Plešivec surroundings. It was found that the locals percieve Plešivec positively ond that the most valuable elements to the hill is eg. outlook "Čertova kazatelna" on "Velká skála", the lake "Smaragdové jezírko" ort he rocks "Krkavčí skály". Therefore the Bdry's dominant "Olympus" Plešivec has a great impact on its surroundings. The locals use it for recreational activities and view it as a symbol of their place of residence.
Land use changes in the test area Radvanice v Čechách in 1845 - 2015

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to evaluate the development of land use change of the model area Radvanice located on the edge of Broumov hook located in the northeastern Bohemia district Trutnov. Another aim is to find out what social driving forces had a major impact on the change in the type and size of various categories of land use. Model area is specific to its location in the border region, which was part of the so-called Sudetenland and the reason was in the postwar period affected by the transfer of Czech Germans. The important feature of the area is undoubtedly many years of mining coal in the cadastral area of Radvanice and beyond, which contributed to the formation of the local landscape. Comparison of the use of reclaimed areas in the North Bohemian Brown Coal Basin for the needs of recreation and tourism Abstract Revitalization of industrial areas in the form of recultivation has been on the increase in the last several years. The recultivated sites are becoming significant regions for tourism. This bachelor`s thesis is a comparative study of recultivation projects in the North Bohemia brown coal mining region. The goal is to evaluate the recreational function of selected recultivation projects. Further determined were the types recultivation, area of the recultivated region, and the type of area utilization. Also, an analysis of web pages was made with the target of comparing promotion and engagement of the public and private sectors in the examined recultivation projects. The work evaluates activities of interest and attractions in the areas. The first part of the work includes a list of literature and terminology. Also described are the individual recultivation projects. In the last part, projects are evaluated within the framework of activities of interest and attractions and the importance for the tourism. Transformations of Kladno in the Period of Industrialization and the Great Depression Key words: Kladno region, industrialization, The Great Depression, Poldi Hut, Kablo, railways, coal mines, historical geography, industrial landscape This bachelor thesis deals with the transformation of Kladno region since the second half of the 19th century to present. The main objective of this work is to evaluate the extent to which the Great Depression has affected the development of the mining and metallurgical center in Central Bohemia, the territory of Kladno region and society in this area. For this reason, much of the work is devoted to the development of the area from the second half of the 19th century to the economic crisis. The Kladno region has developed and expanded rapidly to the surrounding landscape, as it has become dominantly industrial due to social changes due to its originally agricultural area. The economic crisis manifested itself in the Kladno region in 1932. The settlements ceased to penetrate the surrounding landscape and support the families of the unemployed from urban budgets. Changes of functions and land use in the model areas of Czechia

This diploma thesis deals with the development of land use from 1845 to 2015 in three different model areas of different functions. It examines which driving forces effects on the functions of the localities and which had a major influence on the change of the landscapes of the model areas, and at which time the greatest change in the structure of the land fund occurred. The research localities were selected to verify whether were the same or different driving forces of changing the landscape, and whether their development differed from the national trend of gradual reduction of arable land. In the model area of Chvaleč, this issue was examined up to the detail of individual parcels. Basic social driving forces include the agricultural revolution, the scientific and technological revolution, the expulsion of Germans after the Second World War, the socialization associated with the collectivisation of agriculture and the return to the market economy in the 1990s. The work uses a wide range of statistical sources, in particular the LUCC Czechia database which contains data of land use of the Czechia at the level of cadastral territories, which form a background of research in the mentioned localities.
