Israel's population policy
Benešová, Tereza ; Šťastná, Anna (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
The thesis deals with the population development of Israel in the context of individual population policy measures between 1948-2022. The basic concepts of population policies and theories are anchored in the literature review. Specific measures that have been taken in Israel are also discussed and the issue is placed in a political and historical context. The literature review is followed by an analytical part that examines indicators of fertility, migration and assisted reproduction in the context of Israel's birth and immigration policy. In the conclusion, space is also devoted to the possible future direction of Israel's population policies. In the results of the thesis, the influence of a specific measure on population development is not clear, but the partial connections between Israel's population policy and population development are primarily pointed out. Keywords Israel, population policy, population development, fertility, migration
Pharmaceuticals in drinking water and their removal
Benešová, Tereza ; Načeradská, Jana (advisor) ; Vašatová, Petra (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the presence of pharmaceuticals in drinking water and their effective removal. The first part of the thesis describes in detail the pathway by which pharmaceuticals enter surface waters that can serve as a source for drinking water. In the Czech Republic, these are sources of drinking water for Prague and its surroundings. Because filtration, flocculation/coagulation is not efficient enough, it removes only 20% of the drugs such as ibalgin, carbamazepine, naproxen and diclofenac. Therefore, it is necessary to supplement drinking water treatment plants with other processes such as adsorption on activated carbon, which removes up to 98%, ozonation and advanced oxidation processes, with an efficiency of up to 99%, and UV/chlorine removes up to 80% of pharmaceuticals. I found that monitoring of pharmaceuticals in drinking water is not systematic and there is a lack of setting of possible limits. The Želivka water treatment plant was found to carry out tests for pharmaceuticals only once a year, which I consider insufficient. I think that it is advisable to carry out more frequent analyses of medicines in drinking water in order to have a continuous overview of the situation. In addition, there are no long-term studies examining the effect of medicines in drinking water...
Morfologie a biologie velemyší
BENEŠOVÁ, Tereza
Morphology and biology of six species of Cloud rats (genus Phloeomys and Crateromys) was described in the following Bachelor thesis. Details about captive breeding were also introduced. Missing information about each species was pointed out because of opportunity of further studies.
Black Characters in British Literature of the 19th century
BENEŠOVÁ, Tereza
The aim of my diploma thesis is to analyse black characters in British literature of the 19th century. For the analysis, I chose Thackeray's Vanity Fair, Jane Austen's Mansfield Park and Sanditon, Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe, Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre, Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and Wilkie Collins's The Moonstone. To my analysis I also included the historical background and summarized history of slavery. I also considered the social question on the topic in my thesis.
Mechanistic Insights into Reactive Zeolite-Water Interactions
Benešová, Tereza ; Heard, Christopher James (advisor) ; Maldonado Dominguez, Carlos Mauricio (referee)
Title: Mechanistic Insights into Reactive Zeolite-Water Interactions Author: Tereza Benešová Department: Department of Physical and Macromolecular Chemistry Supervisor: Christopher Heard, PhD. Abstract: An in silico investigation of zeolite-water interactions was undertaken using a combined static and dynamic approach within density functional theory. Two periodic models of zeolite chabazite were used, purely siliceous and aluminosilicate in order to explain the different behaviour of water near Si-O-Si and Al-O-Si bridges. One or two water molecules per supercell of the model were used, corresponding to experimental conditions of steaming. Under such conditions, water can interact with zeolites by non-reactive adsorption but also by reactive interactions such as hydrolysis and oxygen exchange between water and the framework. The main goal of the study was to explain oxygen exchange at an atomistic level. The viable mechanisms of oxygen exchange were established. These mechanisms are different for Si-O-Si and Al-O-Si bridges but for both of them oxygen exchange is initiated by partial hydrolysis of the framework. After this hydrolysis, oxygen exchange heals the framework while incorporating into it the oxygen that originated from the water. Both established mechanisms are competitive with non-exchange...
Theoretical investigation of water-zeolite interactions under steaming conditions
Benešová, Tereza ; Heard, Christopher James (advisor) ; Fišer, Jiří (referee)
The thesis is focused on theoretical study of hydrolysis and isotopic oxygen exchange in zeolite chabazite under steaming conditions. The theoretical study was performed by the methods of computational chemistry, namely density functional theory. Reactions of water with zeolites were investigated within the periodic model with chabazite supercell consisting of 36 Si/Al tetrahedra. Reactivity was investigated for one or two water molecules corresponding to the conditions relevant to high-temperature steaming. Relevant mechanisms of isotopic oxygen exchange were found and their competitiveness with hydrolysis was discussed.
Population Development of Israel
Benešová, Tereza ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Kulhánová, Ivana (referee)
The aim of the presented work is to analyse and describe the population development of Israel between 1948-2018. Basic descriptive demographic indicators of fertility, mortality and international migration are used for the analysis. The space is also dedicated to the age and sex structures of the population. The indicators are calculated or taken from estimates that are based on previous censuses and population movement records. The work identifies differences and similarities in the population development of religious and nationality groups. It also includes an international comparison and an outline of Israel's future population development after 2018. The results show that fertility was highest among Muslim religious group for most of the period under review, however, in recent years there has been a decline and convergence with the Jewish population group. Mortality has improved in all population groups, which is confirmed by the growing life expectancy. The overall increase of Israel's population was predominantly affected by the mechanical change throughout the period under review. Migration has been an important factor influencing Israel's population development, with Europe being the main source area of immigrants. Keywords Israel, population development, religious and nationality groups,...

Vanity Fair in Word and Film: A Comparative and Contrastive Study
BENEŠOVÁ, Tereza
The study is an analysis of Vanity Fair written by W. M. Thackeray, its primary characters, dialogs and plot. The subsequent comparison to a BBC adaptation will pinpoint the main differences and alternations referring to the contemporary times and genre, to what extent the Thackeray's version is altered. Student will also consider the historical background of the novel.
