ABSTRACT: The topic of the diploma thesis is a distance teaching of natural history at primary schools during emergency measures in the second half of the school year 2019/2020, when, in response to a pandemic situation, the physical presence of pupils in schools was banned, both in the Czech Republic and in the most of the countries in the world. This was a completely new situation, to which it was necessary to respond flexibly and systemically in order for teaching to continue to work, at least to a limited extent. The aim of the work was to summarize the experience of science and biology teachers at primary schools in the Czech Republic coming from distance education in the second half of the school year 2019/2020. Moreover this thesis is focuing on naming critical points in distance education of given subjects, defining distance learning opportunities and examining whether such a situation will have further implications for the future form of our education. Comparison of Attitudes of Primary and Secondary Schools Students to Large Carnivores, Especially the Common Wolf (Canis lupus) and Domestic Dog (Canis lupus familiaris)

Today, the issues related to the presence of bears and wolves in the Czech Republic are more frequently discussed due to their occasional occurrence. The significant part of the public still considers these predators dangerous and they even think that a man is supposed to be their potential prey. A lot of surveys confirming this have been already taken, but none of them was focused on the views of primary and secondary schools students. As they are a part of the school education system, their views on the large carnivores should be mainly shaped by it. A questionnaire-based survey was used to find the attitudes of students. The first part of the questionnaire focused on the students' opinions about the dangerousness of predators, its reasons and common wolf presence in the Czech Republic. The second part of the questionnaire is focused on the domestic dog, which has wolf origins. It deals mainly with the attitudes of students to selected dog breeds, dog domestication awareness and views on the so- called "fighting breeds". Using of Teaching Methods in Lessons of Zoology at Lower Secondary School

The approach to teaching zoology in Framework of the education programme for lower secondary schools is analysed in this master's thesis. In the thesis, the particularities of active teaching methods, which are currently preferred in modern education, are described. In the theoretical part, the activities which might be used in the lessons of zoology were suggested. The activities are in accordance with the Framework of the education programme for primary and lower secondary schools. The objective is to develop pupil's key competences such as cooperation in groups, formation of student's attitudes and opinions, consolidation of working processes and development of fantasy. The outlines of lessons are focused on recognition of animals living in the Czech Republic. It is emphasized that pupils should be in contacts with animals in the wild nature which they learn theoretically at school about. Suggestions for organising excursions are aimed at certain type of animals. The goal is to motivate pupils to explore the nature. We suppose the more knowledge about nature we have, the more protection to the nature we are able to provide. Project Based Learning of Vertebrate Zoology at Lower Secondary Schools

This work deals with project teaching of vertebrate zoology at the 2nd level of primary schools. First, it outlines the reasons for students' lack of interest in science subjects and tries to find a way to make teaching science more attractive to students through research-oriented methods and project-based teaching. Project-based teaching and enquiry based science education are methods that activate pupils and increase their motivation to engage in science subjects. For effective science teaching, it is essential to use teaching methods that are based on self-observation and experimentation, search and processing of acquired information, and students are actively involved in the process of learning about various facts and laws. These teaching methods have their roots in empiricism, sensualism and rationalism. The role of the teacher is also changing, who becomes a kind of guide in the teaching process and lets the students work independently on the chosen topic. In addition to setting out and explaining basic concepts such as inquiry-based instruction, this work also presents instructions for elaborating a separate research lesson from hypothesis formulation, planning and execution of the experiment to data evaluation and drawing conclusions. Application of the Activating Teaching Methods in Biology at Lower Secondary Schools

This thesis deals with activation teaching methods used during biology classes at lower secondary school. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The first part deals with curricular documents and its relationships to activation methods, to a goal of elementary education and to a goal of activation teaching and above all to a characteristics of individual activation methods. The second part describes a selected topic of food chains. At the beginning, there is an enumeration of selected food chains from eight different environments. Furthermore, a suggestion for a teaching method, which complements the list of food chains, is presented here, as well as drawings of images, which have been created specifically for the purpose of the thesis. As a component of the second part of the thesis, there is an evaluation of a form, which has been presented to children electronically, since the suggested teaching method has not been practicable as a consequence of closed schools in the second half of the school year due to the coronavirus epidemic. The goal of this thesis is to prepare and to test a selected teaching class on the topic of a food chain and drawings of images, which might serve as a teaching material for current as well as future teachers. Use of Historical Hunting Statistics for Collecting Zoological Data

This works investigates zoological findings, especially the species and quantity of game, preserved in gamekeeper statistics of the second half of the 19th century. The information is sorted by the year of the shooting and by the kind of animal; and further by the location of the shooting. The relevant locations here are the three great regions: Kingdom of Bohemia, Moravia, and Duchy of Silesia; which, with minor territorial changes, constitute present Czech Republic. The data used in this work were gathered from the corresponding regions' archives, that is from the National Archives of Czech Republic, the Moravian regional archive in Brno and the Regional archive in Opava. One of the introductory chapters depicts the territorial development of these regions. The acquired data are organized into tables and graphs. The focus of the theoretical portion of this work is to systematize and clarify the data about game-shooting during a specific time in our history for selected game species. The aim of the practical portion is to highlight unexpected and surprising connections between zoology, gamekeeping and history.
