History of sports organization Orel in Bohemia between 1909 - 1948 In 1909, originated in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia sports organization Orel (the Eagle). Unified associations, which for Catholics organized gymnastic activities. Her ancestors were St. Joseph's unity, the Catholic companions and Christian Social gymnastic unions. Czech members of Eagle had a model of the Slovenian Catholic Orel, which was founded in Slovenia on beginning of 20th century by a priest and politician Jan Evangelista Krek. Organization of Orel established in the times of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, in the times of Czechoslovak republic (1918 - 1938) greatly intensified throughout the country, in 1935 reached over 160,000 members. Lifelong mayor of Orel was Msgr. Jan Šrámek, a Catholic priest and politician. Orel ran physical education for men, women, youth and pupils in the Christian spirit. Exercises organized in local groups and two major rallies: international gymnastic festival in 1922 in Brno and St. Wenceslaus days of Orel in 1929 in Prague. It studies who, how and why could have or wanted to have been involved in this process. The topic is viewed from the institutional perspective of an "exile party". It analyses how was the party organised and negotiated. Besides personal stories in the background of refugee everydayness it also looks into what it meant to a be a "social democrat" in "post-February exile" and whether the "exile party" created its own sphere of communicative space for formulating program and various demands and initiatives. The diploma thesis concerns itself with a struggle of the administration of the Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia to deal with the consequences of the German action of 17th November, when as a revenge for previous demonstrations Czech universities in the Protectorate were closed and more than a thousand of their students were arrested and sent to concentration camps in Germany. The thesis is divided into 4 main chapters. The first one concerns itself concisely with reasons, course and immediate consequences of the German "Special action of 17th November 1939". The content of the second chapter is formed by an exposition of a struggle to achieve liberation of the jailed students and their comeback home that was realised by the interventions of the state president Hácha and the Protectorate government at the representatives of the occupation regime; and then an inquest of their tactics and its successfulness at these interventions. The bachelor thesis Society in the Hlučín region between the two World Wars / National identity forming exemplified by the educational system deals with the theme of national identity of this specific region whose history was very different from that of the rest of the newly formed Czechoslovak Republic. It attempts to illustrate the development of local ethno- national tensions from 1920 to 1938 while demonstrating that these conflicts were driven more by general national and strategic interests than on real interests of the local population. From the broader perspective of the specific situation of the Hlučín region in the economic, political and religious sphere the thesis highlights the educational system as a key area of conflict, linked to the efforts to achieve linguistic hegemony. It describes the conditions and context that exercised a profound influence on national identity forming in the Hlučín region.
Repatriation of Czechoslovak exile from Great Britain after the Second World War

The aim of this work is to present how the repatriation from the UK to the liberated Czechoslovakia took place after World War II. The inclusion of the Czechoslovak repatriation to international repatriation action is necessary to emphasize the role of international organizations without this the whole event could not be undrstood correctly. Firstly, the paper focuses on many years of planning repatriation by London exile government which was incredibly tedious process not only for itself but also for the Allies. Planning is encountered a lot of problems and in addition to some conclusions had to wait until the end of the Second World War as it was necessary to know the current situation in the home country. Secondly, the work presents itself start, progress and conclusion repatriation focusing on individual transports and difficulties that accompany them. In conclusion, the paper presents several returnees with their life stories during the duration of their stay in England and after their return to their homeland. Reflection of political process in childern`s magazines between the years 1968-1970 in Czechoslovakia

Bachelor thesis aims to analyze magazines for children and youth, which were printed between 1968 and 1970 in Czechoslovakia. I will focus on the content and also formal aspects of selected journals, and both aspects will be examined in the light of the background of the political events of the period. The aim will be to point out any propaganda and to determine to what extent the magazines for children affected by contemporary political discourse. Author will also undertake a comparison of each magazine on the grounds of any differences, even pointing to the environment from which individual journals have emerged.
Economic and social life in Valašské Meziříčí in years 1939-1945

(anglicky): The bachelor thesis describes the economic and the social life in a Moravian town called Valašské Meziříčí during the years 1939 - 1945, which became a border town of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in those years. The thesis is divided into chapters, each of which is focused on a specific theme of the economic and the social life. The problem so-called the substitute existence for inhabitants, who found the asylum at the turn of the year 1938 there, is involved as well as the issues of education, culture, commercial constructions, industrial business and the Jewish question. Also discussed is the topic of the local resistance dividing into two stages - the organised resistance and the guerrilla resistance. The bachelor thesis analyzes the effect of political systems in 1938 - 1945 on the urban life in Valašské Meziříčí in the social and the economic sector. These changes in that period influenced the lifestyle of all groups of residents who lived, studied and worked there. In the thesis all available sources of information were used, mainly archival materials from Státní okresní archiv in Vsetín and Zemský archiv in Opava. The historical literature is full of information focused especially on the history of the town Valašské Meziříčí.
Scouting in Havlíčkův Brod in the years 1919-1940

This Bachelor thesis deals with the Scout Movement in Havlíčkův Brod since its founding in 1919 to the first Nazi prohibition in 1940. It mainly concentrates on the Scouts organized in Svaz junáků-skautů Republiky československé and their internal structure, it offers an analysis of the Scout troops and their meetings, camps and the membership, it also discusses the financial situation and the relationship with the Scouts in the surrounding towns. The second part focuses on the influence of the Scout troops on the public and it tries to answer the questions, how the Scout Movement was viewed by the society in Havlíčkův Brod and how the Scouts influenced it by their public activities, what sort of relation it had with other organizations and how it was reflected in the local press. In the final part, the work exceeds the specified topic and it considers the end of scouting and some Scouts continuing their work in illegality.
Rakovník in the 30th the 20th

The presented thesis describes the life in the city of Rakovnik in 1930s. It deals mainly with political situation in the Rakovnik city including the hectic end of 1930s, especially the important problem of refugees. The work is also focused on military and police affairs that were located in the city during the given time. The last part of the thesis is devoted to the city's social life, economy (especially with the focus on big companies), education system, culture, health care and situation in church. The work describes the overall development of the city of Rakovnik till the 15th of March 1939.
Strike of Strakonice Textile Workers in 1933 - social-economy conflict during the great depresion

The thesis, whose content is based on social history analysis of specific historical event which took place in Strakonice town at the turn of 1932 and 1933, is focused on the issue of strike as social- economical conflict with regard to catastrophe of the Great Depression 1929 significantly influencing political opinions of individual citizens. The main aim is to depict the dichotomy between anti system features of strike (strike as a political tool designated to control social tenses which can be used as weapon against government) and perceiving the strike clearly like a mutual conflict of interests between employer and employee without political aims. Afterwards, there will be interpreted several strategies and motivations of historical players (workers movement, political parties, other local elites of the town), which led to a competition for dominance. Substantial emphasis is placed on the analysis of ideology and strategy of Czechoslovak Communist party which struggled for hegemony over the local community of workers. Conclusions bring evaluation of social credit of historical players in the time of its entering and exiting the conflict and also the causes of its profits or loses.
