The History of Salvation by Gregory of Tours and Eusebius of Caesarea
Holeček, Adam ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (advisor) ; Ventura, Václav (referee)
This thesis deals with the comparison of theological approaches of classics, such as Eusebius of Caesarea and Gregory of Tours. The aim was to compare their conception of salvation in a given historical period and to find out whether there is any relationship between them. The result was an action based on a thorough examination of both works. The result itself is: Both authors have an identical view of who is the saving force in their time period. However, Gregory came to this end on the basis that Eusebius' empire, in his time, was already extinct and was only a shadow of its former glory.
The Council of Chalcedon and its position in the history of Christology
Blahová, Andrea ; Ventura, Václav (advisor) ; Milko, Pavel (referee)
This diploma thesis will deal with one of the most important church councils in antiquity, which significantly influenced the further development of Christianity and whose conclusions became, among other things, the immediate cause of the First Great Schism of the church. Its starting point will be the existing contradictory situation in Christian theology after the Council of Ephesus, the course and results of which I discussed in detail in my bachelor's thesis entitled Christianity and the Church in the 5th century AD from the perspective of the Council of Ephesus. In this context, the work evaluates the causes and circumstances of the convening of the Council of Chalcedon, maps its course and analyzes the specific conclusions that this, in many ways groundbreaking, church council has reached. Due to the fact that Christological issues have become one of the central themes of this 4th Ecumenical Council, attention will also be paid to this branch of Christian theology and the position which the Council of Chalcedon occupies in its history.

The criminal personality profiling
Bartoš, Jaromír ; Luptáková, Marina (advisor) ; Ventura, Václav (referee)
In this diploma thesis I deal with the criminal personality profiling of criminal acts. I have tried to summarise this subject in an integral form and have emphasised forensic psychological use in practice. A kernel of an entire methodology may be sought in some of the scientific disciplines, especially in psychology, psychiatry, sociology, and demography among others. This methodology arises from human behaviour and, thus, cannot emerge as an exact science. I describe the process of the compilation of a profile and, in some places, I recap the repeated symbols of the criminal acts and, specifically, I characterise a perpetrator of diverse criminal activities. My goal is to draw this theme to the attention of otherwise uninterested people, to stress the interconnection and the possibility of its use in criminal practice and to mention further associated methodologies such as computer databases and geographical profiling. Offender profiling is undergoing rapid development and is subject to constant new developments from specialized investigators.
Monasticism of Martin Luther and some of its echoes in the history of Protestantism
Vodičková, Kateřina ; Ventura, Václav (advisor) ; Hrdlička, Jaroslav (referee)
The writer in his work deals with the question, if the ideals of Catholic monasticism were preserved also in the Protestant movements and Churches. Theoretical backgrounds for this research were the thoughts of Martin Luther, who wrote several papers on the topic of monasticism. Work is introduced with historical overview of the beginnings of Christian monasticism and a brief biography of Martin Luther to reach better understanding of his thought background. Consecutively begins the analysis of the Luthers works and other theological and historical writings, whose purpose is to bring information about the reflection of Luthers standpoints in later Protestantism. As a specific case is shortly described the community of Taizé. The result is the corroboration of the hypothesis and description of some distinctive residua of monastic ideals, particularly the chastity, obedience and poverty.
Christ and Salvation of Man in the Theology of St. Hilary of Poitiers
Ján, Jiří ; Wernisch, Martin (advisor) ; Ambros, Pavel (referee) ; Ventura, Václav (referee)
The submitted study "Christ and Salvation of Man in the Theology of St. Hilary of Poitiers" deals with the theological teaching of St. Hilary of Poitiers, the representative of the Golden Age of the Latin Patristics, especially with his Christology and Soteriology. The study is divided into two parts. The christological and soteriological teaching presented in his work Commentarius in evangelium Mattheiy is examined in the first part which is dedicated to the period before St. Hilary's exile. The second part discussing the period after his exsile, deals with the chosen theme in his masterpiece De Trinitate. The aim fo this work is not only to present St. Hilary's teaching on Christology and Soteriology but also to clarify some of its problematical aspects by examining them in the wide context of the Patristic theology. The short study about the Pneumatology of De Trinitate is attached in the end of the work. Its purpose is to make clear how St. Hilary uses the notion of the Holy Spirit.
