Social motivations to conservation of nature in the Czech Republic until 1956: the analysis of selected (protected) areas
Léblová, Kateřina ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Pojer, František (referee)
15 Abstract The main focus of this thesis is to discover psycho-social motivations leading to nature preservation. During the research almost a hundred of (protected) areas were selected and subsequently analysed to determine what variety of psychological/social motivations are decisive for preserving the nature in the Czech Republic. The localities were selected in the way that each region of the Czech Republic is being represented. The work explores a period since the beginning of purposeful preservation activities (circa 1800) until 1956 when the first Law on Protection of Nature was adopted by a socialist government. The objective is to categorize revealed motivations and to determine their significance as well as to find the most common initiators and scopes of environmental protection. Based on the results we shall be able to define tactics for the encouragement of civic and private activities. This revival could subsequently lead to a further protection of nature, to enhance interest in local events and to take responsibility for the condition of the environment. This research acknowledges what kind of environmental objects will most likely be protected in the future, what initiators are most often involved or whether education is of great importance. Key words Nature conservation, protected area,...
Large-scale Nature Conservation Areas in the Czech Republic and Selected European Countries in the Legal Context
Mazancová, Eva ; Damohorský, Milan (advisor) ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (referee) ; Müllerová, Hana (referee)
The main goal of the thesis is to analyze and compare the degree of protection of the large-scale nature conservation areas in the legal orders of the Czech Republic, the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and, in the conclusion of the thesis, to answer the question of whether these countries' regulation provides a sufficiently effective protection to these areas. Legal orders of the examined countries are analyzed with regard to the scope and effectiveness of the large-scale nature conservation legal instruments. Administrative instruments are examined and compared, including the degree of proprietary rights restrictions and related compensations of property loss. Furthermore, the conceptual and economic instruments (both positive and negative stimulation) are also examined. The analysis also focuses on the regulation of legal liability in regard to the large-scale nature conservation. Next, the thesis focuses on the institutional framework of the large-scale nature conservation in the examined countries and on the evaluation of the scope of the nature protection authorities' competence. Another point of interest is the degree to which the rights of the relevant subjects (owners, municipalities, environmental NGOs) are affected by the designation of a...

Evaluation of economic instuments used in nature protection, with special attention paid to the landscape care programmes (case study of the Třeboňsko PLA and South Bohemian Region)
FRYŠOVÁ, Jana
The Bachelor Thesis also includes mapping and assessment of economic instruments supporting nature protection and landscape conservation emphasizing the related programmes which are demonstrated on the example of the Protected Landscape Area of Třeboňsko and South Bohemian Region. Background materials were analysed and interviews with the relevant employees working for the given authorities were conducted in order to acquire all necessary information and required analyses. The result of the analysis examining the period between 2006 and 2011 proves the difference of the financial acquisition for different organisations subject to the given survey followed by the possibility of influencing their amount as a consequence. It also emphasizes the difference in ?price ceilings? for the activities concluded within the actions related to the conservation of landscape and natural heritage and values and the preserved specially protected territories and areas belonging to Natura 2000 network. The period subject to the survey reveals that financing of common nature conservation and landscape protection of specially protected territories and areas belonging to Natura 2000 network was concentrated on national programmes and financial means provided by local administrative units. By comparing the scopes of competency of the Regional Authority ? South Bohemian Region and the Administration of Protected Landscape Area of Třeboňsko led to the conclusion that both entities were using similar instruments for nature and landscape protection.
