Developmnent and characteristic of the media mix in Japan
Klozová, Dominika ; Švelch, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Švelch, Jan (referee)
The thesis is about development of the media mix in Japan and its characteristics from the history to the present. The core points are the key elements of the media mix - manga, anime and video games. These media are described within the historical context in connection with the media mix. Beside the historical development and interconnections of these media, the thesis compares the media mix with the term transmedia storytelling. It defines both of these terms and illustrates their similarities. Practical research shows concrete examples of media mix, their mutual comparison and classification within the defined terms of media mix and transmediality. This is achieved by selecting samples with different media source from the media mix that are used as a demonstration for the media mix or transmedia storytelling practices.

Antonín Brinda Vedoucí práce: PhDr. Kateřina Svatoňová, PhD. Abstract (in English) The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse Japanese antiutopic animated movie The Sky Crawlers directed by Mamoru Oshii. The work tries to research the ideological structuring of this film's fictional world. The ideological background of the movie is analysed using Louis Pierre Althusser's ideology criticism together with Lubomír Doležel's fictional worlds theory. We combine these (structuralistic) tools to examine the impact of ideology in the movie as a whole. Design of this picture is examined in relation to its antiutopic genre. That is why we put emphasis on the picture's wider (anti)utopic/dystopic context. For a better understanding of the genre we define two antiutopic conditions which serve to make its definition clear. The neoformalistic theory as formulated by Kristin Thompson and David Bordwell is used as a complement to the approaches mentioned above. The theory is used to analyse the...

Gender, Identity and Sexuality in Japanese Anime
Hoffová, Michaela ; LANGEROVÁ, Viera (advisor) ; PAVLÁTOVÁ, Michaela (referee)
This postgraduate thesis called "Gender, Identity and Sexuality in Japanese Anime", will be dealing with the depiction and grasping of the meaning of gender, sexuality and identity and the overcoming of their traditional borderlines in Japanese anime. The meaning of the word "gender" in this thesis, is primarily referring to it's original meaning, typically used with reference to social and cultural arrangements of gender roles rather than biological differences between sexes, which is how the word "gender" is often misused. This thesis will primarily be an in-depth research of the diverse interpretation of gender, sexuality and identity in Japanese animated film from an anthropological point of view, incorporating history, tradition and social development in Japan, ranging from its very first mythological beginnings up to present day. Japanese animated film is characterized by its broad range of genres and it's diversity, which is derived not only from the richness of its own unique culture and way of thinking, but also by adopting western concepts, which are then moulded together and joined in a new original form. This manner of adopting certain aspects from other cultures and their uniting with Japanese tradition and culture created a rich fertile ground for growth of new concepts of gender, sexuality and identity. It is also thanks to this aspect, that Japanese anime has obtained a huge enthusiastic and devoted fan base all around the world. The aim of this thesis is to illuminate the background of the emergence of different concepts of gender, sexuality and identity in Japanese anime and to point out these aspects in individual film and series productions, which best depict these different concepts.
